  • Can't seem to find any flights that match those $$ from melb to Osaka or Tokyo in the may period shown

    • Very limited dates. I've given some examples but even directly on the Jetstar site, they're hard to find, AND they're limited (eg a handful) on each date. All were accurate when I found them overnight/this morning.

  • Need Jan '26 flights :(

    • +1

Nah you're late, should've booked the last 2023 for '26 flight.

      • Hahahaha

  • -5

Any sale on New Zealand flights?

  • +9

Had a horrible xperience with Jetstar last Japan trip! Never again!!!!!!!!

    • Do tell

      • +12

Returning flight was cancelled at last min. Stayed therefor one more night with no compensation or hotel arrangements or any food provided. No one look d after you.

        • In those situations arrive at the airport anyway and speak with a manager to get help

          • @freeb1e4me: There is no Jetstar 'manager' there. It's contracted out to some other mob who don't show up if flight cancelled. You get the pleasure of talking to an Indian call centre.

            • @hardya: Of course there is a Jetstar manager if you arrive at the Jetstar international airport

              • @freeb1e4me: @freeb1e4me, not in Tokyo. There have been numerous instances of passengers having to sleep on the floor at the airport due to no support from Jetstar.

                • @mjref: I didn’t know you can sleep at airport. That would be hard if you had kids. Best not to leave from Tokyo. Try Osaka next time.

        • thanks for sharing, was always tempted to book with jetstar's aus-japan route but after our horrible experience with jetstar delaying the flight to 3am only to cancel it without any explanation or compensation, we became hesitant to book with them again

        • Yep, never again at any price.

        • So do they put you on the next flight out free of charge? Or did you have to pay for a return flight given the free one was cancelled? Also how much notice was given? A couple hours?

        • Interesting, my flight with them from Singapore to KL was cancelled and I got rescheduled to the next day with free accommodation, food and transfers that night.

        • +1

Next time use A.N.A. and enjoy the difference

    • +1

Have gone 4 times now with Jetstar never had an issue. Going again!!!!!!!!

      • +3

Hope you are lucky again next time. Finger crossed for you

  • +1

had a ~4 hour delay with Jetstar on my return flight from Seoul to Brisbane last November lol

  • +9

Man, just save up few dollars and fly with ANA/JAL.

Still remember my headache with them flying to Tokyo via Cairns.

    • +2

I just found a jetstar $490 there and $159 back.

Added on baggage at $89 each way and apparently meals included.

It was only $50 cheaper than the QANTAS deal I got last year. Flight was direct from Melbourne too.

    • Must be nice to say 'just save up a few dollars' in this economy!

      • +3

If you can afford to go overseas, $200-300 really isn't much more

    • +1

Yep, cant beat ANA/JAL for service. Worth paying that bit extra to avoid the inevitable disappointment and penny pinching by the clowns at Jetstar.

  • +8

Come on mate, at least curate your AI art before you lazily throw it onto the website.

"EXP̷͖͌LOR̴̡̼̫̉E XP̵̨̄͝O SE SEL OL TOK TKO Y O" indeed

    • You've never been to Toktkoyo before?

  • +2

Sydney to Seoul is a bargain. Might be a risk with how bad Jetstar is becoming though.

  • +1

qantas is abandoning the Syd-Seoul route soon too (from July I think) so jetstar will be the only aussie option soon. Good price though I agree, I paid almost that in taxes (but used points for the rest) on qantas last year

  • -1

Damn, nothing inline with NSW School holidays :(

    • funny like that - discount deals tend to be associated with when nobody wants to fly … 🤔

    • No surprises there!

  • I am looking at dates in November for Sydney to Osaka. I can get a direct flight to Osaka but not Osaka to Sydney under the return for free sale. Anyone have any luck?

  • +1

Booked last night as part of early release. Always wanted to fly with JAL, but this deal seemed really good to ignore.

    ~$1,900 for 2 adults and 1 child.

Late Oct - Early Nov 25

    2 x 20kg.

    MEL - BNE - TOKYO
    TOKYO - CNS - MEL

    • What’s the weather there at that time?

      • Autumn. Heard nothing but positive experiences in that period

  • +1

Missus wants to go thanks for posting this. I'll put up with shit star just to get me there.

  • Any way to get a good deal flying into Osaka, then back from Tokyo (to Melbourne)?

  • +1

do you need a return flight to take advantage of this deal?
like i'd want to fly into tokyo and then fly out from say osaka because the train/JR pass is a bit exy

    • do you need a return flight to take advantage of this deal?

Well the name of the sale is "Return for free".

      • oh sorry i didn't see the "return for free" part - i must be blind my bad

  • +1

booked for nov, 5 adults bne incheon, around $1700 inc seats and checked bags. with no seat and bag its $309 pax.

  • Ended up paying 1550 for 2 adults with 2x20kg baggage. Not much of a deal :/

  • +4

Anyone else feel these deals aren’t that good?

By the time you add entertainment/food (food might be included, so my mistake if it is) and add your baggage you may as well fly Qantas

    • +2

Anyone else feel these deals aren’t that good?

I think these fares are so cheap they are barely making any money. Take in to account airport fees, GST etc.

      By the time you add

It's optional. I fly without these things but I guess if you need these things, then yeah the prices aren't too dissimilar from the sale options from other airlines over the last 12 months.

    • Very much depends. I flew Syd -> Osaka direct last year on a similar deal for ~$600 each including bag, whereas qantas/jal/ana for similar dates was around $1000. I can manage without free cabin snacks for a $400 saving.

If the price difference was much less or involved a stopover in cairns I would agree its not such a good deal.

    • Why add entertainment and food, bags?

      • +2

Food and entertainment I can go without but there’s so much cool shit in Japan to bring home. Every time I go I come home with a suitcase full haha

        • Japan isn't really made for big luggage anyway. Our family of 4 did 17 days in December with just carryon and bought a few cheap suitcases on our last days to jam all our shopping in.

        • +1

Most stuff is on AliExpress these days. It's not like back in the day when their electronics were made locally and you had to go to Japan to get a mini disc player

          • @belongsinforums: This is true. When I see people talking about filling suitcases, I am perplexed as to what they could possibly be buying.

And indeed some people are still stuck in the '90s thinking that Japan is futuristic.

    • these deals are so good! I had to book a one way return to australia for $800 this morning. Already got my next return booking done for japan for only $530 return from this deal!. I usually only pay extra for seats

    • They are good for me, I plan food around the flights/bring snacks and load up my own ipad for entertainment.

  • Got excited then saw it was the same deal from yesterday, bugger. Jetstar added so few dates, bah.

Looking like for the first time ever I'm gonna have to pay full price for my trip. (Gonna throttle the friend that locked me into these dumb dates, lol.)

  • Found flights for MEL - ICH return for just under $500. Thanks.

  • +1

Booked last night bne to Nrt return 2 adults 2 kids 2x25kg bags October $1600 return! Great deal

  • They are likely to cancel your flight and stuff up your itinerary.

Commenting from multiple experiences including this type of deal previously going to Japan.

No more Jetstar for us at any price.

  • How's the weather around Soeul in June?

    • June is hot, but not too hot, 26-28c, starting to get very humid though..

  • +3

Managed to book Melbourne to Seoul. 4 tickets in late October, 40kg up and 80kg return for just $1,755.64.

    • What were your dates? Trying to book something around October and can't seem to find anything close to your price

  • -1

Never go to Japan in Summer.

    • i agree with you. its also really bad now with the extreme cold…

  • I used Jetstar to Osaka, and had a flight delay for an hour but it eventually left and my luggage came safe so…..it's okay?
