They just took down the Sony 55" that I was in the process of buying.. wtf.

    • I was going to buy that too - I just had to confirm it with my parents (as it's for them) and now it's gone.

I'm struggling to work out what to get them instead.

Are you getting a different TV anyway?

      • I was actually ordering it for someone else, but we decided on the 50" Sony instead. However that one is also no longer available.

  • Hi Guys,

What TV would you purchase for less than $1000?

Is the JVC LT-55NU50A any good? It's only $758 which is hard to pass up on.

    • Trying to work this out also.
Let me know what you end up going with.

The Hisense is the same price but only FHD.

I have zero experience with either brand. I had decided I was looking for a good brand FHD and not UHD but since the 55 inch Sony got taken down I am not sure what to go with.

      • I ended up choosing the Hisense 50k321uw. I really wasn't sure whether or not to go for the UHD but figured for $716 i couldn't go wrong. Picked the set up last night, and so far I've got no complaints. The tv looks great, so i'm happy.

        • Do you game? Wondering how well it upscales PS4 content. Or even 1080p films.

        • +1

FWIW I bought the Hisense 65k321 UHD TV for a friend and I have to say it's a heck of a lot of TV for the $$$. 65" of UHD, 3yrs warranty (+1yr extra as used my Platinum CC), quad core processor, reasonably good SMART apps etc all for $1356.

Calibrated it using the settings that a US based professional service used for the 55" version (and yes I know that technically every panel will be a tad different BUT this atleast gets it a lot closer to 'calibrated' than the OOTB settings).

I have to say the picture with this done is actually pretty damn good - and that was just viewing some FTA HD material - so pop some proper bluray material in or better and it's a hard TV to beat for the $$$.

Was very pleasantly surprised by how intuitive and well laid out the remote control and menus were - generally on the cheaper Chinese TVs I find these to be nasty and confusingsly done - but this was very good.

The folks I bought it for, who were considering getting a FHD 60" Panasonic from HN for $1700 are absolutely elated with it. I'm not as blown away but the overall value of the TV for the money is very compelling IMHO.

  • Any deals on fridges and dishwasher?
    Thanks.

  • Been watching a Panasonic DMC-FT6GN camera but good guys have put the price up $50 for the sale :(

    • +1

they have it for $329 and then 20% off, that a great price. (yes they did have it for $298)
We bought one around September (good guys 20% off), we paid $279, so about what it is now. heaps cheaper than anywhere else we found.
If you are after one buy it , taken it to PNG, used at beach etc, great photos and hooks up to a mobile phone with app etc.

      • Ah they dropped it again, it was $349. Thanks for heads up :)

    • Been watching a Panasonic DMC-FT6GN camera but good guys have put the price up $50 for the sale :(

They didn't put it up $50 for the sale, it was a catalogue sale that ended and the price reverted back to it's previous.

How hard is it for you to understand that the Good Guys and other retailers have discounts that apply for short periods of time before they revert back to their regular price?

  • will anything be added to the items? or shall i just pull the trigger now.

Have to say TGG, FUTU & KOGAN have been pretty good in this sale overall possible something has changed with ebay covering more items, bing lee been the poor performer, upped prices, upped shipping costs, not delivering certain products to vic anymore

  • Anyones order from Kogan been shipped yet?

    • Bought a lens on 8th March from Kogan HK. No tracking information provided yet.

  • Shipping information approved by Australia Post

Well… looks like this will take a while.

    (Kogan)

  • havent buy anything! feel sad

    • That's because before the sale, they jack up all their prices. I wanted to buy a whole list of things I had on my watch list. Sale started and I actually ended up worse off for the 5 items I wanted. I should have bought them before the sale… There are some bargains to be had, but they are few and far between…

  • Got one of these from TGG as my washer is playing up

LG WTG7532W 7.5kg Top Load Washer
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141486682272?_trksid=p2057872.m27…

Beats the appliance online price by heaps!

    http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/75kg-top-load-lg-washing-…

Appliance online doesn't price match Ebay as stated in http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/our-prices.aspx

    • Exactly the same washer I have my eye on.
How are you transporting this back to your place? (Curious as I've never done it before)

      • getting it delivered, installed and take away old machine.

        I think delivery was ~$35
Installation and take away old machine was another $22

Still saved $244 compared to appliances online (who offer free delivery and takeaway of old machine)

        • Did you purchase via ebay c&c then called in store to arrange for delivery?

    • Does LG make good Top loader washer?

  • Anyone got a vacuum recco for something under $250

How about an electric shaver? I just purchased the Remington F5800AU. It's the best budget pick per http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-electric-razor/.

$47.20 after discount is a good price.

      • +1

Good pick.. But still prefer the old school shave. Seem to shave a lot closer for me. Thanks though

Can anyone provide some feedback, I'm after a 27" Monitor and there is this LG IPS Monitor available. After reading the comments here about the postage of Futu and their 4 day lag in reply to my message asking how the hard drive is posted I don't have the most confidence in purchasing from them (FYI the reply I got was "I think it's in a box with padding").

Has anyone purchased a larger item like this in the past off them, how was it shipped? and how would a return work, it comes with 3 years, I am in Melbourne, so would I have to pay for shipping back to them? they don't even have a phone number, how would I make a cmaim in 2 years time for example? or even agfter 3 months?

I originally purchased it from TGG but after them not deeming Centercom a competitor to price match I got a refund, I think it may be worth paying the extra $30 from Futu's price and buying the monitor from Centercom directly, obviously the ozBarginer in me doesn't wanna do that though lol so feedback is appreciated!

their 4 day lag in reply to my message asking how the hard drive is posted

What sort of question is this? I cannot believe that you would ask this to any retailer.

Has anyone purchased a larger item like this in the past off them, how was it shipped?

In its box, they're not going to wrap it in three hundred layers of bubble wrap for you.

….how would I make a cmaim in 2 years time for example? or even agfter 3 months?

The same way you would make a claim with a bricks and mortar.

Stick to bricks and mortar, you clearly are not able to handle online sales. Sheesh talk about over thinking everything…….

      • you should really read the comments here once again to understand that FUTU had been shipping mechanical HDD's in a larger box than the retail box with no padding, the HDD bounced around and people had issues with them, someone even contacted WD and was told not to accept the item being shipped that way.

I also think it's very reasonable question to ask for a retailers shipping method and precautions (i.e bubble wrap extra padding etc.).

Given a bricks and mortar store you would walk into with the faulty item, maybe call them on a phone number on their website before hand to ask them the procedure and at FUTU there is no contact number and it is interstate, I would say it is very different.

I think I will stick to Centercom because I haven't gotten any constructive feedback thanks!

  • These are two great cheap simple camera deals I think.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Canon-IXUS180BK-IXUS180BK-Dig…

The canon is a new model as of Jan 2016. I bought it using the code to replace a more sophisticated lumix TZ40 that broke and I am actually quite impressed for $116. The main letdown is the screen, not good for camera reviewing. The photos look great once on the PC. The going rate on staticice is $185.

This sony was a canditate too but reviews were mixed. I Still think its alot of camera for $79.

    • silly questions, will there be more participated stores?

  • Anyone spotted 4tb internal drives?

  • Does anyone know of a top loader stainless steel fridge that doesn't have an ice box? I find the ice box to be a waste of space.
    Thank you

  • when i buy something and use the 20% off, will the receipt i get from bing lee have the full price or the discounted price? (need to know for TRS reasons)

    • Full price. Answered at least once already.

  • I bought a iPad mini 4 wi-fi 64GB from Kogan for $530. I'm an Android guy but that's about 25% below RRP so a really great deal. Only problem buying from Kogan is it's coming from Hong Kong and I now have to wait 2-4 weeks for delivery.

    • +1

And you only going to be covered with 1 year warranty instead of 2 years if you bought Aus stock

      • How come?

Is that extra 1 year cause of Auatralian consumer law….has that been substantiated by Apple, it always seemed like it was up in the air with no guarantee of 2 years warranty?

        Is it now guaranteed?

        • -1

It has been guaranteed, you just need to remember it to the genius guy ;)

        • -1

          Apple provides a 1-year warranty.
You will have ACL protection, but you might have to fight for it.

        • it always been the case with Australian Consumer Law, with 2 years. from the IMEI they can track down where it was purchased from. I know this from experience and its a 100% valid.

        • @eug: find the link under specific country law. the 1year is an international warranty.

        • @abc xyz: Nope. There is no time period set in ACL. It states a "reasonable time".

If your phone is on a 2 year contract you will definitely have a 2 year warranty.

If your iPhone was purchased outright, you will officially have a 1 year warranty, but Apple says they "will obey ACL" for the second year.

        • -1

@abc xyz: No it is not. Apple does not have an international warranty for iPads and iPhones. Some Apple stores may provide service for foreign devices anyway, but a customer is not entitled to it.

        • @abc xyz: ok so I just bought a new ipad air via that GG / ebay deal….was going to get the apple care extra 1 year but then rembered I get extra cover via Amex credit card (i assume not effected paying via paypal?)

But now if consumer law says you get 2 years, then all sweet.

        • I refer to official "Apple Store". and that was based on my experience dealing with them directly (a) one with i bought from Kogan after 1 year… and (b) one that i bought outright in Australia.
At the end of the day, there are limitations on what its covered although within warranty period.

        • @abc xyz:

I refer to official "Apple Store"

I refer to the official Apple Warranty Statement.

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD AND APPLE TV SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

Two of my friends tried to get their HK-purchased iphones repaired here. They were both rejected. So as I said, some stores may provide service if they feel like it, but officially they do not have to.

  • Where to buy the good android phone for around $500?

    "Your payment is still processing

If your payment is declined for some reason, we’ll send you an email to let you know. You should then come back to your item(s) and try your payment again."

Can't seem to make payment via PayPal

    • Same thing happened to me buying a cpu. Very annoying.

    • Did you guys eventually get this resolved?

This happened to me as well when trying to purchase a 60" Sony for $1,400.
The next day I was informed that the payment had been declined, and when I checked the price on the tv it had increased to $1,700.

      Sounds dodgy…

      • Yeah, I did.

Eventually worked after about 5 goes over a couple of hours and received the cancellation confirmation.

        I didn't want to buy 5 phones :)

        • Happening to me now.

At least it's not counting the code usage.

          Hopefully it resolves itself tomorrow..

      • Yeah, it worked after the fourth try.

    • Happened to me 3 times yesterday and once this morning. Very annoying. I tried different cards through PayPal in case it was that and no difference. Hopefully it works at some point today, otherwise I will be getting them to still honour the code.

    • Happened to me to - I've emailed the Good Guys - will post any response I receive

      • +1

No point emailing The Good Guys, it's an eBay/PayPal problem.

        Just be patient.

It happened to me again this morning, after 15 mins, I got notification that my payment was successful.

        • Thanks, so do you recommend keep trying?

Has anyone ended up with purchasing multiple copies of the same item through this?

        • @Bossfan:

I kept trying, it took me 5 attempts to purchase a phone.. very annoying, but the $200 saving made me persist lol.

        • After 5 attempts of trying to purchase a phone for over 3 hours, I am getting frustrated and the deal is almost ending. I think it's time for me to give up and cry.

        • @dyli: did you get one or cry?

  • Does this monitor look alright for uni work/browsing/casual gaming? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkVision-T2424p-23-8-FH…

    • Good deal I think?

  • I'm constantly getting the following warning:

If your payment is declined for some reason, we’ll send you an email to let you know. You should then come back to your item(s) and try your payment again.

    Then the payment gets declined

    • I'm getting this too. Not exactly informative. They could at least tell you when they will declare it "failed", and what to do. Right now, I don't even know whether I bought it, should try again, or whatever.

EDIT: got through about 30 minutes later.

      • I tried 6 times to buy an iPhone from Kogan, I've given up and just went and got it from Apple.

        • +1

I think I know what's wrong. eBay bought the software used by Dick Smith for processing orders during a receiver's sale.

  • ordered the wrong item at good guys, they said i can cancel the order according to their t&c. i opted for click and collect, will they charge me any fees for cancelling an order?

    • no

      • is this from experience? on their site it says they reserve the right to charge you any admin fees :/

        • Yes, accidentally paid for the product without entering the 20% discount code.

Refunded without any hassles or fees.

        • i bought a washing machine that was $1188 (before 20% code) and now it's gone down to $988 (before 20% code) I just picked it up on the weekend. Do you think they will refund the difference? So annoyed!

        • @KupoHo:

I feel your pain, but no.

        • @JB1:

Yup, rang them and they said no and said will refuse refund if I returned it? Even though from their Ebay FAQs it states you can return within 30 days as long as its still boxed or in sellable condition. We have only unboxed it and have not even plugged it in. Quite annoying they don't price match themselves?!?!? Surely this doesn't sound right to me, it's irrelevant why someone is returning something as long as it's within the conditions of the return policy??

I recently ordered a fridge from Harvey Norman and a few days later saw it had gone down by $400 from a diff competitor. I rang up my sales consultant and he rang them n it was a pricing error (they fixed it before the consultant rang me back) but he still honoured the sale price. I was a bit apprehensive ordering from them as read terrible things but in my own personal experience, they have been MUCH better to deal with than Good Guys. I would have also ordered the washing machine from them had the carried the same model!
