4 Pack Ratchet Tie Down $4.89 at Masters

1770

First it was $9.99, then $6.99, now it's $4.89!
It's listed as $6.99 but when you add it to your cart, $2.10 will be deducted from the total.

Double-dipping price error? No idea, but my order went through!

I tried buying it in-store but the guy said it's $6.99. I went home and did a click-and-collect order for the same store. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.

If you're the die-hard bargain type, you can get it for $4.33 thanks to tonester and battler!

OK. seems part of online deal

30% discount applies in the online checkout

  • +1

catalog says 30%% off all tiedowns so my guess is the $6.99 price is the new standard price then minus 30%

bloody hell, just teach yourself how to tie a truckers hitch there are plenty of videos on youtube

    • +2

Would 14.6m of suitable rope cost less than $4.89? :)

    • +14

Fair suck of the sav, mate!

Truckers use Ratchet Tie Downs - when was the last time you saw a professional truckie use a rope?

      • 'fair suck of the sav'….love it :P

    • +2

In at least some states of Oz you must tie down a truck/trailer using AS/NZS 4380:2001 approved straps or you can be fined (and yes I know people who have been fined). If I uses some random piece of rope the cops aren't going to accept that. Incidentally, these straps are marked as aproved.

  • Thanks just bought 4 packs. These are on sale at Aldi next week for $20 for a 4 pack similar size. Massive savings here.

  • +2

Moving house next week. Perfect OP. Literally moving my house - will these be strong enough?

    • +7

Depends. Do you live in a house for ants?

      • +6

Otherwise you might need some that are at least… 3 times bigger than this!

    • Yeah should be surely.

    • Whack an extra ocky strap on just to be sure.

    • As long as you don't put more than 300kg of strain on them

    • +1

If you're in the doghouse, then yeah you'll be fine mate.

    • +1

  • Thanks OP … could not resist … cheaper than rope / ocky straps / string.

  • +4

    First it was $9.99, then $6.99, now it's $4.78!

    - 5% off 1st order - 2% cashback @ cashrewards = $4.45 :)

    • you forgot to pay with the 5% discounted wish gift card==> $4.33
(not sure where OP's 4.78 came from, shows as 4.89 at checkout)

      • +1

        yes $4.78 was a typo :)

  • Well spotted OP. Got 5, should do me for a while!

  • If I don't have a roof rack or tray, where would this become useful for? It looks pretty handy and I want to buy, but don't know what to use it for.

    • +2

      Don't think. Buy.

      • What's that?

        • Artistic knot tying

    • As I recall, can use the mechanism to make a folding sword. Or in this case 4 folding swords.

  • +1

No idea what it's used for, not a real handyman or anything….. But… ORDERED ANYWAY!!

    • +2

very amusing people buying these just because theyre cheap despite no use or need or even understanding of what they are…..seriously funny :D

    • +1

handy to strap the grandkids to the back of the ute.
I wish they had wider ones for the mouth - they're always complaining about swallowing flies

      • +2

I just use the simple duct tape hack. Keeps em real warm in winter too.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:
Haha, duct tape mouth believe it or not!

  • I paid 2 strap for 19.99 @ ALDI. Looks who got rid off

    • I have the Aldi ones. They are much wider and very good quality - can't vouch for these yet, awaiting my pickup sms.

  • Cheers OP. Paid $4.65 using staff discount.

  • thanks bud! ordered 4 packs :)

  • Any idea if this promo discount is being added to other items at checkout?

  • +1

These are shite but still decent for a dump tie down. Other than that I use my moto straps for everything.

  • +1 for deal, but i hate masters web site- 10 minutes to make a 1-item purchase.

    • +4

better than bunnings' crap web site …

      • +3

Yeah Bunnings has no online ordering and no reviews, I think Masters is way better for these two things alone.

    • Must be your crappy internet? Master's has always loaded pretty fast for me at home and on my mobile.

  • +1

ordered 11pm, sms @ 8am ready to pickup

  • thanks OP

  • Yippie, its Tie Up Weekend

  • thanks, just got 2

  • +1

Doesn't seem to show the 4.89 price anymore for me even after adding teh item in the cart

    • Oops see below too late!

    • proceed to check out it will show 4.89

  • +1

Lookout! The rep will be here to 'fix' this soon!

    • Too late…my order is already ready to collect… :p

  • Unfortunately seems they have fixed on line - when I proceed to checkout still shos $6.99.

  • Damn just missed out

  • Think from what the rep said in another post is that website pricing changes only take effect overnight. So in the future if we find a pricing error gem like this we'll have till midnight that day until the gold carriage turns back into a pumpkin…

For the record I bought about 6 of these 4 packs at 9.99 three months ago so 6.99 is still a great deal, and they have been ample enough to help me move the entire house strapping things in the back of vans, on trailers and on the roof racks.. Be nicer with wider straps and larger ratchets for ease of use but for the comparison in price it's hard to justify.

    • I was going to buy this morning at 8am and it worked at 4.89. but I didnt end up buying.

  • Pic looks like a guitar amp…

  • +1

Picked mine up this afternoon from Everton Park. There was another guy picking one up too. I wonder if he's an OzB'er.
Their pickup cupboard had a shelf that looked full of the tie downs.

    • +1

Looks like they were tied down with the sheer number of orders…

      • +1

i would have bought a shitload …..but im a bit strapped for cash

    • +1

      That's so ratchet.
