  • As expected… site is down. :(

    • Site worked ok for me 5 minutes ago!

  • Would have been awesome - but I've waited for the sale page to load for 25 mins now :/

2 for 1 deal is the cheapest deal for Jetstar Japan flight so far.
However, flight connection used to be better (like 1 hour in Gold Coast).
Now it looks like 2.5 hours waiting at GC and there seems no 1 hour connection flight available.
    Correct me if wrong.

Gold Coast airport is so tiny you have nothing to do to kill 2.5 hours there.

    • you could practice your head spins and fly kicks.

    • I went there when they were doing renovations and there was even less to do. I think i had to kill 4 hours after a delayed flight. But putting things in perspective you could get a psp with the money you save.

Going in April-September is very hot

    • +2

August is the hotest… I was there in 2008 and it was crazy!!! Nearly 40..

      • +1

August / September 2008 was an absolute schocker. I felt every one of those 40 degrees in Osaka. 2009 at the same time was a lot better.

        • Best time so far me is April and late November :)

Well the fare looks very cheap and attractive. I did through the quote and got a total price included tax $1,038.56 for two persons. (Melbourne to Osaka)

However, you will see many been sold out (I serch from June to Sep, 3 days in each serach, the date and flight available to choose is very limited.

For entire Aug, I only found one day has fare available!!! This is telling us they actually blocked many seat across many particular date for this promotion. When I do a normal fare search, I still can find many seats are still available through Sep. This is why they ask you must click that ad banner to get the fare becuase that actually runs fare search in differnet set of criteria in their database.

So, although it is cheap but it is very limited and very small choice. You just got to stick with whatever date they give you or skip this promo and run a normal fare.

If you've missed out, remember that Friday Fare Frenzies often have similar or lower fares to Japan, well at least from the Gold Coast. I scored a couple of seats last week for under $800 return all fees / cc ripoff included.

Just bought myself two tickets for $931.54, what a steal!!!

Bought it about 1.5 hours ago, from Sydney to Osaka, travel from 30Aug to 8th Sept.
I saw plenty of tickets available during Aug to mid Sept.

Now its time to find out where to go, what to do and how much my bank account would hurt :~(

    ENJOY YOURSELF! :D

    • As discussed above, the reason there are many seats available during this period is it is scorching hot with high humidity in most areas in Japan (except northern parts including Hokkaido). I would definitely avoid late July/ whole Aug/early Sep to fly. But if you don't mind muggy weather, then enjoy your holiday!

  • Do you have to name the 2nd person travelling or can you leave that blank if you can't find someone yet??
These deals are great, but also very annoying. The thing is you and the other person have to be extremely flexible (go on a whim's notice). It's kind of hard to grab this kind of bargain, when you have to ask your boss, and your travel companion does too, if they can get the leave first. And then by the time you go book, there's no more tickets. You just have to be able to do whatever, whenever. Sadly life is not that way … : (

    I just got 2 tickets:

Melbourne -> Osaka $548 (inc card booking fee + taxes)
Tokyo -> Melbourne $584 (damn shoddy exchange rate)

    BUT, I'm going to Japan!

The ones you got by clicking through the banner sold out SUPER fast - especially the return flights. I managed to find the Tokyo -> Melbourne flights by NOT going through the banner and clicking on the side area where you originally find tickets. They may have fixed that now (def changed back to normal fares for June 29 travel), but it's still worth checking out if you're trying to find a flight on a particular day.

    I'm going to Japan!

  • they should just do 50% off tickets not to for 1. Then i would have a better chance of taking up the offer.

  • I still can find Sydney to Tokyo in May for $200 one way and $200 return.
Does this means total of $400 to go to Japan and back for 2 persons? Crazy stuff.

    • Why don't you proceed to the next page and look at the total for yourself?

  • Do you need a visa to go to Japan?

  • I took up this offer during their birthday sale last year. The flight was acceptable considering how cheap it is - just don't expect much service, or even TV unless you pay. Brought my own food on to the flight.

  • Now to find someone to go (only got back from Japan 2 months ago :))

  • Japanese tourism is collapsing so Jetstar is taking pretty drastic measures to ensure planes are full. That's why Jetstar now annually launches these 2-for-1 sales. It's no good to offer half price airfares, as it's better to force all the seats on a plane to be filled up by making every purchaser buy two.

Do customers have to nominate a real person for the second seat? It would be an awesome way to get a cheap airfare and lots of room :-)

Japan is a great holiday destination. June is usually wet while July/August are humid and hot, but it's a welcome change from cold southern Australia. For the lucky few who got tickets, I hope you enjoy the trip.

  • i just got back from america on a jetstar sale like this - i paid $950 return including taxes and charges for me, hubby and infant (he sat on our laps)

  • I flew with them to Japan last October. The prices were great but the service was really bad… Unfortunately bad service is typical for Jetstar, so one has to expect it.

    • +1

It's a budget airline what do you expect?

    • What exactly do you mean by 'service'? Are you talking about what's included for the price you pay and what you have to pay extra for (food, pillows, entertainment units, seats with more legroom, etc), or are you talking about the quality of the service provided by the staff members?

For my part, I flew Jetstar to Japan a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. Flight attendants quickly helped with requests for food, entertainment units, etc and the flight had an adequate number of staff on board. The /service/ provided was great.

As stated above, you're flying a budget airline. You cannot have an Emirates-like experience for a basement price fare.

  • +2

By "bad service" I mean their staff attitude and sometimes even rudeness.
I flew with Jetstar 6 times. 3 times out of 6 had problems with them.
It looks like they are trying to make you feel that since you have bought the tickets at a low price then you deserve bad experience which comes with this price. In other words: get what you paid for.

    • +3

I believe now Jetstar has customer gurantee (charter).
I would seek official way to file your complaint.
Let their manager to know your unpleasant experience due to their rude attitude.
Surely they want to improve their customer service.

      • -1

Thanks for the tip, and maybe you could even also ask for a few shopping/discount vouchers from them :D

    • exactly, its the big reason why I don't fly with Jetstar. Also I think they get this way because we (the customers) probably think we deserve more service in which case, there is none.

it really is common sense. I've never had qualms with jetstar service on flights cause i just dont expect any but its more the check-in and australian operators that are most annoying. dont be surprised to lose your bags for a week ;)
