  • shame you have to pay only with mastercard debit :(

    • u could always price match with jetstar.. :)

      • how do i ask jetstar to match the price

        • +1

just give them a call, and say "i would like to price match with tiger from for e.g. syd to melbourne."

and they will ask you the questions..to get it going!

    • You don't. You can use any card… just means you will incur $6 inconvenience fee per person per flight.

  • I don't understand why they do that!
I have a Visa debit card.. shouldn't that be good enough???!!!?

    • evidently not

btw a mastercard debit card still charge you a fee for conversion fee from AUD to SNG

Damn. Just booked Sydney to Melbourne last week.

I'm kind of liking how there is so much hatred towards Tiger. It means there's a far smaller rush on these type of sales compared to Jetstar/VB, as well as it prompting them to release even more sale fares!

  • Thanks just booked same day Melb - Hobart return for $42 with extra booking fee.

  • hate how they have it only for weekdays

  • +1

Price match with Jetstar and you will get them for $13.50 and you can pay by visa etc. for no extra charge - its what I always do.

    • thanks for the heads up.
A great way to get $20 off you next flight is to walk in to a flight centre and let them make the booking for you (and beat the price by $1) so the next time tiger has a fare for $30, you could get it for $10

      • Ah so theres no limit on the $20 voucher they give? Thanks for that.

      • How is this "flight centre" work? Isn't that they incur their fee & this cheap fair only for online booking? Could you please shed me some light.

  • [incur a $6 “Convenience fee” per person, per sector] who is this convenient for? not the consumer! why don't they just call it a CC surcharge or handling fee?

    jetstar's $1 is still better :(

I just called jetstar for a price match. I was disappointed to know that they can't match it. Apparently, the price is 0. Tiger is only charging tax and so, Jetstar can't match it. I checked Jetstar's policy on its price beat guarantee and it only says this:

If you find a published internet airfare on another airline that is lower than the lowest available comparable Jetstar fare on Jetstar.com, call us to book with Jetstar and we will beat the other airline's fare by 10% (provided we can verify the lower fare when you call to book). The comparable fare must be for a one way direct flight on the same route at a comparable time.

So, why can't they beat it???? So much for a price beat guarantee!

    • yeh. thats garbage.
I've used the price guarantee often for circa $20 flights.
Sometimes JEtstar bill me CC fees. But never been denied like you.

    • really? Did anyone manage to get the price match of $15?

      • Yes mate! Just got off the phone.
I have to visit adelaide once a month for business.
Just managed to book the following with jetstar price beat

Depart Mar 30-Return Mar 31 @ $15.84 return.(I could not believe tiger had it listed for $8.80 one way and jetstar beat it).

        Depart Apr 20-Return Apr 21 @ 27.00 return.

        Depart May 12-Return May 13 @ 27.00 return.

        Depart June 09-Return June 10 @ 27.00 return.

So all up i paid less than $100 for FOUR (Can you believe it!) trips.

I love the OP. All hail lord Skystar.

        • last night I frantically tried to call Jetstar to price beat but I kept getting some Japanese message. Did anyone get that funny message? Tried many times so figured they didn't want to pick up the phone anymore so went ahead and booked with Tiger. I don't like Tiger as they are heartless but I guess I should have booked earlier in the day rather than at night to get Jetstar to pricematch.

My horror story with Tiger: Passengers sitting at the front of the plane got to go in rain-free at Sydney airport. The other half which I happen to be in, walked through one of Sydney's heaviest downpour to wait at the stairs in the tarmac while they slowly checked the tickets. The plane was delayed for more than an hour so it was stupid of them to rush us through the rain. Some people got cold and tried to get a coat but they told them to sit down and buckle up. If it was flooding outside, wouldn't they have the decency to plan first before telling people to board and wait for nothing?

    • I had the same issue with them once.
Even threatened to go to ACCC for false advertising but the rep did not bulge.
Same thing you said……"the price is 0. Tiger is only charging tax and so, Jetstar can’t match it".

Called them back straight away and got a different girl on the phone who beat the price and booked it straight away.

So if you get someone who thinks he is paying the difference from his pocket just call back.

    $15?? try $8.80!

Seems to be weirdly inconsistent (adioso has an index of available fares at this price, though it's probably selling so quick it'll get out of date quickly):

    Madness!

    • Yes, syd to mel, syd to ade, mel to ade. $8 !

    • Sorry, slightly corrected URL should read: http://adioso.com/au/australia-to-domestic-under-aud20.html (though the results are much the same)

      • Why is it so cheap? I've never seen it like this without any special advertisement like yesterday's $15 sale. So tempted but the return trip is expensive.
