  • Sounds good , model no? Next g?

  • Do you have the model number etc? Any more information?

  • Wow, these devices are really dropping in price.

Note also this at Big W this week http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1389719&p…

Maybe Telstra is running out its older and slower models?

  • hmmmm, i bought the telstra 3g modem for $15 as part of a current deal. I dont know if it is the same deal… searching now

  • i got it last week from dubbo office works for $74 with $30 credit, its the white one with 3.6mb peak speed, next g now does 7.2mb peak speed, good card though

    • That sounds like the one now available for $69 (when purchased with a $30 recharge) from Big W. See Whirlpool link above.

      • yeah it is the same, mine was cheaper though, i meant it came with $30 credit in the pack and it cost $74 :)

        • Lucky you.

I'm sick of the slow, tired Optus network and am looking at NextG for data when I travel.

  • i dont know the exact model number, all i know is it is not one of the "turbo G" ones. just the standard usb wireless. this one does include a $30 recharge as well :)

  • I'm convinced Telstra is running these out for the introduction of a new model.

Maybe one that is Windows 7 compatible :)

  • If you can unlock the modem, then it is great value. This is because modems for Telstra network support both 850Mhz and 2100Mhz (some of them are quad band ones, but they are rare). This means you can use them on other networks in most areas.

If you cannot unlock the modem and you only use wireless 3G occasionally (low usage), then it might still be a good deal.

Telstra's 3G coverage is far superior, but the cost is just too much for me.

The $10 USB modem on sale last year supports Windows 7, but not OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

This is because modems for Telstra network support both 850Mhz and 2100Mhz

You need 900Mhz UMTS for Optus and Vodafone outside metro areas.

+1, tried it, it wont work for voda outside metro.
