this is a great watch. got one for my gf last year, didnt disappoint at all.

  • +2

Keep in mind that this watch is quite small at 37mm and will look tiny on the manliest of wrists. A solid, affordable watch though that punches above it's weight.

    • lucky i buy one

      • +2

You mean lucky you have small wrist? :)

        • +4

lol typo. Was meant to say lucky i didnt buy one.

    • It's 13mm thick though.

  • I understand having a prestige automatic watch and paying for the every 5 year service eg my seamaster , but wouldn't the cost of a service be more than the cost of this watch ? do people just buy them and throw away when no longer accurate ? wouldn't a quartz version be a more practical option ?

    • +4

These last for about 20 years without service, so it's not really a concern for $80

      • +1

        This!
The seiko 7s26 movement is one of the beauties of the mechanical watch world. Often compared to the Rolex Submariner as just about the only two robust movements that can go quite literally for ever without any servicing.

I have 6 '7s' movements. All bought from skywatches too.

Beware though. Once you buy into seiko automatic movements, you will think twice about allk other 'luxury brands' and their value.

  • I like blue. :) But 37mm is just too small for my wrist. Would of bought one otherwise.

Good bang for your buck 200m diver.

      • I want something like that with that strap or the (blue white red strap) but a better brand ? Any recommendations?

    • What do you have against automatic watches?

      • Nothing :/

But they're less practical. Not for me, as a watch is a watch, rather than something to bond over (you keep your automatic watch "alive" by having it with you)

  • +3

Seiko is without peer as the world's best pound-for-pound watch. They're incredibly well made.

I suppose having an automatic is an issue if you're not wearing it 3+ times a week, but it doesn't bother me too much.

I've sold my Swiss watches to invest in multiple Seikos and I'm so glad I did…although keeping them in regular rotation does mean the automatics do need a little wrist-work :)

    • Get a watch winder.

    • +1

      Wrist-work. LoL..

      • Funny

    • What about casios

    • I've got the green version of the exact same watch I got in 2008. Goes great and when wearing, it feels like you're not wearing anything at all!

  • +2

Thank you been living looking to buy this model for a long time

    • +4

So now you can die happy!

  • My watch is approx 40 year old Seiko stainless steel automatic. Still keeps great time when worn although after a day or two off the wrist it will need adjusting of the hands. It was given to me when I was 10 and was my Uncles who passed on in a car crash.
I'll replace it one day when it stops working and can't be fixed.
Same as the one in this thread but mine has the original stainless bracelet:

If this helps you guys make the purchase http://imgur.com/a/Y8IZl

It looks really nice with a 18 mm leather strap against a blue face.

    • thanks for the link ; i'm in love with the blue and leather strap.

    • Thanks just bought the cream one!

Where do you get your straps from?

      • I bought a hadley-roma 18mm brown leather with white contrast stitching off ebay for $31.50+ shipping

But if you look around ebay it'll range anywhere from $5-$40 with the cheapest ones made in china lol

  • Have one of these for over 12 months and love it. Keeps good time, easy to read and it's all mechanical which I like.

  • +1

    Thanks. Bought one

    • Looks like you got the last blue one.
The next best price I can find is at Timeparadise USD$59.00 Delivered Approx AUD$81.00.
Buy in USD if you can using your 28Degrees Mastercard.

    Doesn't sound too genuine.

  • glad I missed out on this deal, already have too many mechanical watches.

    • Blue one is back in stock.

  • Hah, I have this exact model. Had sat unused for about 9 months but I only just dusted it off last night to wear today.
It is a little on the small side for a man's wrist, but that's personal taste anyway.
A great "work" watch, especially if your job is the type that will give watches the occasional scratch or impact. Very solid.

  • I bought one of these a few years ago and it has recently died. Anyone have suggestions of a similar looking watch that isn't automatic?

  • Awww, I missed out. I've been looking at this for a LONG time, but at the one made in japan. But at this price, I would have just gotten this one.

    • It's back in stock now.

  • Green and cream still available

  • Hey OP tried to pm you but apparently I can't since I am overseas
    What a stupid script
    Anyways
    Hey man
Seems like you into watches ?

Currently I'm after exactly what you posted but with this band :
    https://www.danielwellington.com/global/classic-canterbury-4…

And yea bigger dial atleast 40mm

Personally I don't think DW is a good brand. So any recommendations?

Currently wearing Tissot Visodate leather or Citizen EcoDriver SS

Seiko make a model similar to this that is around 40mm -
      SNZG11K1 - Blue USD$93.00 Delivered
      SNZG15K1 - Black USD$90.00 Delivered
You might want to check around, can't be sure this is the cheapest price, but it looks ok.
As for the band, you will have to buy that on it's own, try ebay.

  • Here is another nice looking 38mm Seiko 5 with a stainless steel bracelet -

  • can you take off the stainless steel bracket off the Black SNK809K1?

    • Do you mean the bracelet? Yes it will come off, then you can put a nato strap on it.

  • Has anyone had any problems buying from them? im about to make my first purchase, just want some assurance.

    • I haven't bought anything from them but have looked into their reputation by doing a Google search like this
Have a look at the watchuseek links.
Everything that I have read says that they are legit & most people are happy with them. They have paypal, so be smart and use it.

  • Has anyone received their watches yet? Mine was sent on the 9th and hasn't arrived.

    • Did you get it? Anyone else get theirs? Please post some reviews.

      • +1

Yes I received it a couple of days after posting that comment. Great watch, I ended up ordering the beige version too (I have the black one currently), waiting for delivery. I have a vast selection of different coloured perlon straps and a couple of leather natos on the way. Love being able to customise the look everyday, to match my outfit.
