    Caribbean Boxing Day Sale

The one at the MCG isn't doing too well…

  • which cruise ship is best?

    • Explorer of the Seas If you are talking about departures from Australia

aka Gastro Diarrhea of the Seas

just came back from the trip after the news. we were well and did not get sick.

recently refurnished. ice rink and flow rider on board. show almost every night. must try the speciality restaurant - best Italian, steal and Japanese in my experience.

bargain. nicer with a suite or balcony. booked already for another trip next year - Oviation has already been booked out and looking at 2017. these ships will not be back till end of 2016 as winter will repositioned back to Mediterranean.

    • +1

Explorer of the Seas, but all of these ships are considerably nicer Carnival/P&O/Princess ships.

      • would be interested to learn from others' experience.

        Check out the ships here
Explorer has just been fully refurbished. it is the biggest cruise among those and has a promenade in the middle of the cruise. 3300+ guests.

        RC is the upmarket line.
Once you get in the nicer and bigger cruise, hard to get back in the other classes.

  • seems like only two of the cruises are on "sale".

  • seems like a silly questions, but here goes. These are one way trips and we need to find our way back right?

    • +1

No. It's a round trip; they get you there & back. Have a look at the itinerary.

  • i can't find this deal - $571 7 Nights: Voyager of the Seas (Sydney - New Caledonia);

  • Couple of questions for you seasoned Royal Caribbean cruise goers;
-Tips, are they mandatory and will we be pressured into giving them?
-Can we eat at any time we feel like in the restaurants without paying extra?
-I see that there are wine and drinks packages available for purchase. Does that mean only water is included in the base fare?

    • +2

1/No tip are not mandatory you can go to the desk and remove auto tips and if you feel like it tip the people at the end in cash
2/ you can eat in the restaurant, buffet or other places like cafe no charge
3/ normally you can get tea, coffee, hot chocolate , water and lemonade/ ice tea and orange at breakfast for free

      • Thanks for the quick reply!

      • what sort of tip do you actually end up leaving for the ship staff in the end?

        • +1

          can tip in different ways:
          1. pre paid tipping when booking is made - around $138 per person (on my last trip), worked out from $9 per day per person - that goes to your dining room attendants, suite/stateroom carer…
          2. If no prepaid, tip will be auto added end of bill but can stop at guest service (as mentioned by @justhooked)
          3. envelope in room to leave extra tips or/and
          4. tip individually as you go.

        • @eatwell365:
          Thanks!
I usually leave $50 cash per person (2A+2C) for 2 rooms and dining staff.

          Was just curious.

Some staff do look after us well and go beyond duties to make us welcome and ensure a happy holiday.
Tipping is individual preference and based on your experience,

I wasn't a tipping person and hated to pay tourist price,
Then one time my wife told me that you are coming for holiday and be happy, don't be tight and enjoy.
This has changed my mindset since

prepaid tip and extra tip for suite attendant (the same one for the whole trip, like your butler), fine dining room attendants (same one if you choose the same table most of the night), speciality restaurants, "gaming" staff, bar attendants …don't want to count anymore …the service staff leave their family at home, work and live on the cruise on contract for 7 months on pretty lean US wages…
