Good plan for users who call less and use more data.

    • +2

And maybe also for those who Care…

"We use the profits to help others

We develop mobile solutions to help people be independent and involved in the community"

  • +2

Hi rep, how do I go about changing my parents current Jeenee plans to this one?

      • +19

That's exactly why I left Jeenee - kept on being excluded from all these good deals. Luckily I got on to the Optus $20 Click Frenzy deal for a few months and after that I can have a look at what you're offering 'new' customers like myself :)

      • +44

I've never understood this discrimination against current customers by companies.

So it's either continue to get the same payments from them but give them access to the extra inclusions everyone else is being offered, or lose the current customers' business and get no money from them at all.

Forenti - guess I better start looking at where to move them over to next too.

        • +5

Exactly - don't they say it's cheaper to retain a customer than to acquire a new one?

        • +6

@Forenti: Not if customer aquisition involves "posting on OzBargain (for free) and getting them to sign up online without any human interaction." In that case new customer aquisition is much cheaper than reducing your margins on existing customers.

The gamble here is that the reduction in revenue from customers who are annoyed enough to leave is less than the reduction in revenue from customers who would take up a cheaper plan offer if it was available to them.

        • +4

          @get-innocuous:

If they made changing plan like most isps, just log on to their website and choose one of their new plans, then it wouldnt cost them anything. Also only customers that know about new plans would bother changing, so you get to maintain your higher margins on everyone else. Its what most isps do.

Like this they may lose customers.

        • @cheesecactus: But it does cost them - if you move from a $22 plan to an $18 plan it costs them $48/customer/year. Thier gamble is that that cost is greater than the cost of lost customers from not being able to move to promo plans.

        • +3

          @get-innocuous:

Thing is though, the customers that know about the new plans are the same ones who would leave them.

So by adding the option to swap, they will retain their higher margins with 90% of their customers who wont bother changing, but they'll also retain the 10% who would have otherwise swapped away.

That being said theres probably a chunk of people who wouldnt have swapped, but if they found out about new cheaper plans, would probably switch. But i cant imagine this is many people. Hell i'm someone whos always on ozbargain and didnt notice for 6 months i could have swapped my telstra phone plan for one $10 less pm and over double the amount of data.

        • +1

          @get-innocuous:
It really depends on how you apply that phrase. If you're purely talking about one customer who is already with the company and one customer who isn't, then obviously it is cheaper to keep that customer as you save on the fixed costs associated with bringing the customer across such as labour and the sim + shipping. This is a simple model and we could make it more complex but I really don't think there's much point

        • +3

Made an account just to say this, but apparently Optus has been offering its resellers a bonus for each new customer they sign up. I assume that's why they can offer these plans so cheaply but only to new customers.

        • It's about figure, as well as bargaining power with supplier(s).

        • +1

          @Forenti:
A Social Enterprise should NOT discriminate
between New & Existing customers, IMO.

      • Not good enough, "Jeenee" lmao… How's Forrest?

Anyhow you should give us users a little more respect. We aren't some bottom of the barrel internet shopping scums, we are OZBARGAINERS of the greatest shopping experience in Australia!

      • that's pretty miserable then. its month by month, you should allow it.

  • +2

Just a quick question. Do you guys anticipate that you'll have international roaming capabilities any time soon?
Vaya = horrid customer service and I'm looking to change but need global roaming for banking whilst overseas.

    • +5

Hi, We are in the final stages of testing this and will be releasing international roaming and calls early in the new year

      • I just got a $25 acct…

Your web site, Social Enterprise concept & price impressed me.

Are your Help-Desk & Customer-Service both in AU?
(If not, Where? …and When will they be in AU?)

  • +1

    No MMS?

    • +3

Unlimited MMS to Australian numbers is also included.

I'll update the deal now to reflect this

  • +5

I've heard too many bad things about Optus network the last 18 months.
3 years ago it was Voda who sucked, now it's apparently Optus and Voda is half ok.

I GOTTA move away from Telechoice (Telstra, re-sold, 3G only) I'm blown away by how frequently it drops out to no signal at all, really surprising. (Was good for the first year too)

    • +10

My experience with Optus 4G has been only excellent, only tested in Melbourne though.

      • +1

I'm in Melbourne, most of my friends with Optus report more issues than I do with TC. I'm surprised to say most of the time I'm having issues, it's the Voda friends without issue.

Considering TC is 3G only, I'm getting a bit over it :/

        • +2

Interesting. I currently use 3g Telstra and 4g Optus. Obviously I prefer the Optus since it has blazing fast net, and have had no issues with reception.
          ¯_(ツ)_/¯

        • +2

@skazclaw: Which Telstra reseller? Honestly I'm so sick of Telechoice, I can't believe I'm considering leaving a Telstra 3G network, not due to speed, but reliability, it's not what I would've expected.

        • +2

@hamwhisperer: I'm having the same issues but im locked into the contract for another 6 months :/

        • +3

@PGGP: What phone? Glad it's not just me. I'm shocked
They were good at first, it 'felt like' Telstra quality - no drop outs, regular good signal - but now, no @%!@ it actually ENTIRELY loses data connection and infact signal entirely at least once or twice a week, even for 10 seconds like.. WTF? That's bad.

        • +1

@hamwhisperer: Yeah I have the exact same scenario. on my Galaxy note 3, and my partner's S4. Also happened on her Sony Xperia so not just a Samsung thing. The thing is where I work I need a telstra network, so I really dont have much choice until the contract ends (they said about $400 to pull out)

        • @PGGP: I'm on a Note 2 (but the 4G edition) I've started capturing screenshots, it's occuring in places all within 3KM of the CBD too. Pissing me off.

So your signal drops ENTIRELY for like 10 seconds? I get no data OR bars, even the circle with the line through it :/ Glad it's not just me, wondered if my phone was dying.

        • +1

You actually know people on Vodafone?? Wow I tried them once never again worst reception ever.

        • +1

@hawkus81: How long ago tho? Voda SUCKED about 3 to 5 years back

        • @hamwhisperer:

I have the same issue. Very odd isn't it.

          I am using a Galaxy S6.

Reception was perfect until about 3 months ago.

        • @oswade: Well that kinda concretes it for me, at least 2 people agreeing with the same thing.
It's SUPER weird. Full signal dropout, it almost feels like my phones software for the antenna is crashing and reloading.

This is kinda really bad, I'm gonna switch to a 4G Voda plan as soon as I find one under $20 with 1gb data, unlimited SMS and reasonable call quantity (250+ minutes a month)

        • @hamwhisperer:

Agreed. The strange thing to me is that when the signal returns it's great again.

I'm still holding off moving. I find that there is a benefit to being on telstra when in crowded events (e.g. nye) you can actually use your phone unlike optus and voda.

          It's just really annoying.

If i did move I think i'd go for an optus 4g reseller. This deal is kinda tempting.

        • @oswade: Everything I've heard about Optus isn't good :/ Voda is apparently the #2 now.

    • +1

yeah my wife with optus constantly gone into emergency(no line)….. when my vodaxxxx still have 2 bars ……

      • Are Voda Resellers as good as Voda?
I just want 1GB data, 4G, unlimited SMS, voicemail (or voice to text) and about… 200 maybe 300 minutes for $20

  • +1

Awesome. Thanks Rep. Great timing for those jumping ship from Yatango/Yomojo.

  • -8
This offer is for 6 months only… You should make that bit clear!

The promotional discount ($2 per month) will apply for the first 6 months of your plan, and will only be applied to new services activated between the 1st Nov 2015 and 31st Jan 2016. After 6 months the monthly discount will expire.

    • +14

This $18 Pennywise Plan deal is not limited to 6-months but is ongoing

      • Ahh OK. I stand corrected.. Who would take on your other plans?

        • Our most popular plan is the $35 Unlimited Talk & Text plan with 5GB of data

      • +1

Is the $25 pennywise plan limited to 6months only?

    • -1

Fail comprehension, thats for the old plans which gave a $2 discount for 6 months if you sign up now.

  • +1

    What about international call allowance?

    • none. nil. nada.
you cant even roam. read post from the top.

    • +2

International calls are not included in these plans. We will be adding international calls to all Jeenee Mobile plans early in the new year - but international calls (when they are offered) will NOT be included in the call allowances

      • -3

        Booooo!

      • What is meant by "adding international calls to mobile plans but will not be included in call allowances?"

        • +2

Sorry. I could have been clearer.

What I meant is that at this stage Jeenee Mobile does not allow international calls. We are in the process of changing this and will allow international calls and roaming available early in the new year.

When we do make this available, we are not intending to make international calls a part of the included call allowance available within the plans (ie - international calls will not be part of the 300 minutes of calls available in the $18 Pennywise plan).

        • @Jeenee Mobile:

          Thanks for the clarification

    • +3

The reason we are only offering this plan to new customers is that we have received some support from a supplier that is only available for new connections. Existing customers can contact us individually by logging onto their My Jeenee Mobile Account and send us a message via the Contact Us Form and we are happy to have a look at their account to see what we can do.

  • Isn't this identical to Vaya?

    • +4

jeenee is miles ahead of vaya.

      • +3

really? Same network so I would imagine much the same experience. I've been with Vaya 2 years with no issues and am yet to see a better deal. This is the first I've seen to really get close.

      • +2

In what way is it miles ahead? (serious Q)
How is their customer service compare to Vaya?

        • +5

customer service alone. go read the vaya thread on whirlpool. was so glad to finally be rid of them after months of incorrect charging and terrible customer "service" reps.

      • +5

As a past customer of Vaya (4 accounts, more if you include liveconnected) and a current Jeenee customer (1 account, used to be 2 but moved one as needed even MORE data), I can honestly say Jeenee are in a totally different league.
Jeenee answer their phone near instantly on a clear line with a competent staff member who knows their products and can achieve things while you're on the line, emails (like my one to them this morning about a nano SIM) are normally answered within a day if not hours.
90% of emails to Vaya disappear into a black hole, if they eventually answer their phone it's a low fi VOIP line with a high chance of cut off and a staff member who can't help you.

        • +1

my last 3 contacts with vaya have bee great and they answered my mail yesterday in less than 24 hrs

        • my LG G4 with vaya says YES OPTUS, does your Jeenee mobile display Jeenee or Optus? Thanks

        • +1

@CanadianBeaver: why is this can make a difference? You don't like name jeenee on you mobile?

        • @eisniwre:

not for me, for someone else, i personally might stay with vaya

    • +3

Call allowance is more with Vaya and data less at 1.5GB. Vaya do charge $20 for the SIM card but there are regular offers where this can be avoided.

      • 300mb vs $350 calls - same $18
Vaya require $20 deposit (haven't tried getting it back), bad service unless you spam their facebook for an answer loll

        • +3

Vaya is $650 worth of calls ($350 more) for $18 and only 300mb data less.

For me more than double the calls is worth more than 300mb.

        • @hawkus81:

          That's what I'm comparing… 300mb or $350 worth of calls

  • +2

Jeenee, you are losing another customer here. I'll port my number out. It's time to use my $5 telstra kit

  • This is perfect,
was waiting for a good deal to jump over from Amaysim Flexi plan.

  • +1

    How much is excess data?

    • +4

Excess data is 4c/MB or can be purchased as a 1GB data bolt-on for $10 (or 2.5GB for $20)

      • -2

Can be purchased? Hmm. Vaya will automatically bump you to bolt on if you go over excess.

So…. If your system requires the user to manually buy s bolt on, then the vaya system is more advantageous.

        • +6

from what I know, Jeenee disables and then gives you the option for bolt on. So it's actually superior because Vaya auto bolt ons whether you want it or not

        • -2

          @Astro551:

?? So even if I don't use the data, I pay for it?

        • @watwatwat: sorry for which carrier? As in the moment you go over your data allowance (1kb or however small Vaya applies the $10 bolt on)

  • $18 plan in pretty good, if you don't make many calls.
The $25 in unbelievable value, $5 cheaper than lebara and also full 4g. Cheapest 2.5gb plan around.

    • -2

How is it unbelievable value? It's $2 cheaper than vaya.

      • I cant see any vaya that gives all unlimited plus 2.5gb at $27. Also even if you are saving $2 a months it means you get 12 months value instead of 11 with vaya. I don't think it's bad. Vaya had bad customer feedback plus jeene is non profit… Just a shame I'm still with lebara for a while as I bought vouchers, but if you can't be bothered moving around this jeene is the cheapest 2.5gb

        • -7

I was referring to data. And so what? If your idea of unbelievable value is a saving over 12 months of which I make the same amount in an hour. Plus vaya has promotions where you get the first month free.

        • +2

@watwatwat: well so you are paying $27 for vaya 2.5gb but no unlimited sms/calls. Please if you find someone that gives you 2.5gb and all unlimited for less than $25 let me know. Sounds like your name is quite appropriate watwatwat.

  • Are there any restrictions on access to Optus' network? Like are there any 4G frequencies excluded for example?

    • +1

Unlike Telstra, I believe Optus don't restrict network usage for MVNOs on a per-frequency basis. With Jeenee, you should get all 4G frequencies offered by Optus.

      • Cool, thanks!

  • If I'm porting my number across when does the billing period start, is it when I activate the sim or is it when I order online?

Also if it is when I activate the sim can I order a sim now and activate it just before the end of January and this will be when the billing period begins?

    Thanks :)

    • I was reading whirlpool it starts when they ship sim :(

      • Hmmm that would actually benefit me since I'll be overseas until the 5th of Feb so purchasing on 31st of Jan would suit me.

Found this on their website, it seems you are right yet the conditions of this offer says "Services must be activated before 31st Jan 2016." So it seems regardless of if the sim has been activated the billing would continue but I hope they don't cancel the service because the sim hasn't been activated.

When does my billing cycle start?

Your billing will commence when your service is added to your account. It is important that when you receive your package that you call >Jeenee Mobile on 1300 054 631 (8am – 6pm AEDT Monday to Friday) to activate your service.

  • +2

beats vaya by 300mb.. better than nothing i suppose

    • +1

Yes but also 300 minutes might work better than $650 depending on usage.
Anyway vaya has very bad customer feedback

  • I am with dodo prepaid i spend $10/month for 1gb of data and $50/6month for $50 credit.. Should i swap to jeenee?? I had no problems with dodo.. I am light user with sms and call but heavy usage with the internet.. Dodo charges per mb and no personal hotspot for ios.. Would there be personal hotspot for jeenee on ios?? What would you guys think?? To join jeenee or no??

    • +1

Not clear how much do you spend?

      • $18.33 per month?

        • If he spends $18.33 I reckon jeenee is better value as 1.8gb and tethering allowed. So spends less and more perks.

        • @fozzie:

          Fair assessment

$10/month for 1gb of data… heavy usage with the internet

With 1.8GB there's gonna be some extreme usage

        • @Steptoe:whop whop

        • @fozzie:

i think i will be porting out of dodo to jeenee next year. thank you for your comment guys

  • +1

    Overseas calls not included?

    • -1

No international calls, but 50c for international sms, 74c for mms.

  • +4

Is data per kb like vaya is now?

    Update… found it.

Data will be counted in kilobytes, and includes both uploads and downloads. After you’ve used your included data allowance, each megabyte of excess data within Australia costs $0.04/MB.

Next question, do Jeenee usually grandfather plans or force customers over to new plans and pricing?

P.s. I'm a TPG customer looking to move.
