Frequently asked questions
Why are your prices so low? Is this a scam?

This is definitely not a scam! We're selling VPN accounts at below cost to gain new customers. The lost is built into our marketing plan. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Do you offer a lifetime plan?

Unfortunately a lifetime subscription model is an unsustainable business model for us. Instead, we've priced our 3 year VPN plan (56 cents a month!) to be competitive with lifetime VPN promotions.

Will you raise my prices after the promotional period?

Nope! Your pricing stays the same as long as you remain an active FrostVPN customer.

Will you offer more Australian VPN Servers?

Yes! We're planning to add 3-4 more Australian servers next month. We'll add servers in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Will you offer more VPN servers?

Yes! Our plan is to continuously add VPN servers to our service. All existing customers will receive access to our new VPN servers for free.

Will you offer SmartDNS or Proxy services?

Yes! We're in the process of developing our SmartDNS and Proxy services. We will be began beta testing our Proxy services in Q1 2016 and our SmartDNS in Q2 2016. All current customers will receive access to our SmartDNS and Proxy services for free.

Do you offer a easy to use VPN client?

We're in the stages of developing a Windows, Mac, Apple and Android client. We're still in the developmental stages, we plan to release our first VPN client in Q1 2016.

I don't want to provide you with my information, is that possible?

Yes, if you pay by Bitcoin, you can enter whatever information you would like into our billing system.

Do you allow BitTorrent?

Yes, as of right now, we only allow the BitTorrent Protocol on our Amsterdam servers.

Will your servers slow down with due to too many users signing up during Black Friday?

We may experience a slowdown in our services servers if we gain more customers than we expect but we can resolve that within a few days by launching new servers in the overloaded locations. If you experience any slowdowns, please contact our support department and we'll take care of you!

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2015

rather go for PUREVPN it is cheaper also with more server. for deal just search pureVPN

  • Hi rep,

Read some decent remarks with your service on 'Reddit' however, only 1 server in Australia, can we expect slow speeds or is it going ok?

    • Hi TilacVIP,

The one server in Australia has some pretty low usage, so speeds will be okay. If we gain more customers than we expect, we'll speed up deployment of our Australian servers. They're originally planned for deployment during the 2nd week of December but we can always speed up deployment if the current server becomes too slow.

      Thanks,
      FrostVPN

  • Thanks rep.

If we sign up for say the promotional month by month but then stop for a couple of months [for whatever reason] then decode to re-activate that account again, will we still be on the 1.99 per month price?

    • Yes, as long as you were a customer and return within a year (from date of cancellation), we'll honor the pricing. We can't extend it any longer than that since we expect our network and service offerings to be double or triple what it is now within a year.

As always, let us know if you run into any speed issues at all and we'll either fix the issue or launch some servers with better routes to you.

  • Does this work in the same way as Getflix where I just change the DNS on one laptop rather than the all traffic going through the VPN? Thanks?

    • It does not, all traffic has to go through the VPN. We are planning to add HTTP proxy support in December/January, which allows you to only tunnel one of your browsers (example FireFox) to access geo-restricted content. Our SmartDNS offerings are a few months ago away from release (Q2 2016).

      • I like Split tunnelling since not all traffic needs to go through VPN.

        • There are a few methods to split route, either through your router or the OVPN file (very messy though). Please PM me or email [email protected] and we'll see if we can help you out.

  • Where is your company registered?

    • We're registered and based in the US.

  • Hi rep.
I plan to travel to China in near future and I know they block some sites there like Facebook, Twitter etc. can I use your vpn service from China to get around it?

    • Hi Cookie,

It has been hit or miss with our service in China, it seems to work in certain regions. I would not recommend relying on just our VPN inside China. If you need a reliable VPN/Proxy in China, I recommend looking at a obfuscated socks (Shadowsocks) or obfuscated OpenVPN service. I would avoid larger providers since it seems their servers are already blocked by the the chinese firewall.

We're planning to offer a obfuscated proxy or socks service in China but it is not high on the priority list right now.

      Best,
      FrostVPN

  • Do you have a warrant canary?

    • We do not provide a warrant canary right now but we may add it in the future. We've looked into providing something similar to rsync warrant canary.

  • Do you log IP addresses?

    • For our VPN servers -

FrostVPN does not monitor, record or store logs for any VPN user. We do not log or Store web traffic data including Websites visited, files downloaded, etc.

We do however record the following data: - time, date and location VPN connection was made. - bandwidth consumed during the connection - duration of the VPN connection This information is collected to protect our service from abusive users, spammers and crimes. We regularly cycle this information within our servers. All our servers utilize shared public IP address, which does not allow us to pinpoint a single activity to a single user.

Thanks to the rep for answering everyone's questions; excellent service which is helping me consider signing up. Since you're being so forthright, I may as well hit you with the standard TorrentFreak.com list of privacy questions:

    1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you to match an IP-address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold and for how long?

    2. Under what jurisdiction(s) does your company operate?

    3. What tools are used to monitor and mitigate abuse of your service?

    4. Do you use any external email providers (e.g. Google Apps) or support tools ( e.g Live support, Zendesk) that hold information provided by users?

    5. In the event you receive a DMCA takedown notice or European equivalent, how are these handled?

    6. What steps are taken when a valid court order requires your company to identify an active user of your service? Has this ever happened?

    7. Does your company have a warrant canary or a similar solution to alert customers to gag orders?

    8. Is BitTorrent and other file-sharing traffic allowed on all servers? If not, why?

    9. Which payment systems do you use and how are these linked to individual user accounts?

    10. What is the most secure VPN connection and encryption algorithm you would recommend to your users? Do you provide tools such as “kill switches” if a connection drops and DNS leak protection?

    11. Do you use your own DNS servers? (if not, which servers do you use?)

    12. Do you have physical control over your VPN servers and network or are they outsourced and hosted by a third party (if so, which ones)? Where are your servers located?

Seboya - I'll take a stab at answering these questions within the next few days. We're relatively busy with holiday promotions and answering these questions are a bit more involved.

      • No worries, Rep. Plus it can't hurt to have these answers on hand if torrentfreak.com come knocking for info..!

      • and… that's where the support ends?

        • I wouldn't say this is where support ends… We haven't had a chance to tackle these questions yet due to the holiday promotions, number of signups and preparation for our new network setup. These questions are a low priority right now, if you have any specific questions, please few free to contact [email protected] and we'll be able to assit.

well +1 for not offering Lifetime subscriptions - nothing yells scam more then that.

  • Yeah I spent a bit more for scotty's recent deal of Tigervpn (undefined lifecycle) after Pure's gave the finger to existing clients. They operate Czech and China respectively, outside of the Five eyes plus are small enough for my purposes.

    Just sign up …
try connect to several servers… not bad… pretty fast

2 other things I like: the price of 3 years subs (nice one, op!) & using Open VPN instead of proprietary software….
    just my 2 cents

    • Thanks for the feedback!

  • Signed up for the 12 month deal, installation was pretty simple, trying it out now, so far so good.

  • Thanks for extending the offer, I was actually able to get it!
Signed up for the yearly, good stuff.

  • Anyone tried the Amsterdam servers in terms of torrenting? (slow fast etc?)

  • Just a heads up, we've released our own VPN client, http://www.frostvpn.com/clients/knowledgebase/73/FrostVPN-Cl…
