Can this be moved across multiple PC's as you upgrade?

Edit: looks like you can as indicated in the older post.

The trial version is good enough for amateur users and people who don't visit shady sites.

I'm really sick of this mentality.. Have you never heard of compromised ad servers, zero-day vulnerabilities, cross-site execution, et al?

It's not just "shady sites" that will cause problems. And not everyone is smart enough to avoid the avoidable problems either (eg. no that isn't your power bill/iTunes account/etc.)

You can keep your head in the sand, but please don't encourage others to join you.

      • I'd love to see them all get a rootkit and try to remove it with their crappy "flawless" AVG while claiming they didn't visit any "shady sites".

No one wants to access your porno or whatever other crap you have on your computer.

No, but people do want to spread their Cryptolocker virus or infect your computer to use it to do nefarious things.

          @MrFunSocks:

Rarely happens to the average user.

        • @tendollar: Maybe, but it happened to a guy I work with the other day. He opened a "pdf" email attachment and it encrypted everything on his computer (which luckily was only a few days old). It does happen.

        • Run malwarebytes free through your computer and let us know what the results are please.

          @abacus:

Been doing that for over 5 years. It does the job

precisely what my mate at work always said, then he got a virus on his PC last week and had over $500 taken from his credit card. Which bank returned a few days later, but he had to cancel his card and he decided to reformat his PC (so lots of downtime).

The trial version isn't live protection though. You have to manually kick off a scan for it to find any malware. The full version stops it in its tracks before it gets on your computer.

  • Thanks for this! Hopefully something similar pops up for Anti-Exploit soon.

    • +1

It's called regular patching. Also a firewall.

      • Cool reply! Doesn't Anti-Exploit protect you from Day Zero exploits through various layers of sandboxing? Protecting you from something that may not even be patched yet?

        • My brain does that. =)

        • @Lukian: Your brain is sandboxed?

        • +1

@ryang: Yup. No other brains can get in =)

  • I just bought a 1 year subscription from MalwareBytes a few months ago - is this the exact same product that you get if you buy directly from their site, or is it an outdated version?

    • +1

This is a perpetual license, for all versions of the product, for 1 PC only.

I believe the new subs cover 3 installs?? 5?? Something like that.

      • Good stuff. Guess I'll buy this to replace my subscription. You only get 1 PC with a subscription now.

Malwarebytes not nothing like it was in the past. I wouldn't recommend it anymore as a standalone product.
Try HitmanPro for active protection or ad-hoc scans and ADWCleaner for ad-hoc scans. BitDefender is also quite reasonable.

    • Ditto

    • On the plus side they recently incorporated Junkware Removal Tool, but that's nowhere near as good as ADW.

    • links don't work, I click and they stay at an ozbargain 404 page..

why is malwarebytes not good anymore? what does it do wrong now that it was OK before?
or maybe a better question for me is what makes the hitmanpro better.

I was gunna buy malwarebytes (I usually just use free but thought I would pay this time when the trial runs out)

Not sure if this site is any good but did a quick search and found this site where its ~ 16 bucks

    http://www.ecrater.com.au/p/22377427/malwarebytes-anti-malwa…

PCAuthority is reputable. Not sure if ecrater is? Any feedback/experience with ecrater would be helpful. Seems to be like an Amazon, Alibaba/express type setup. Conduit for sellers.

    • Ecrater not polling well on net… especially trustpilot and PayPal community…

  • Be mindful that if you are using this product, you also need to have an anti-virus software running side-by-side.

Personally I would rather go with Avast (there is a free edition) which guards against both malware and viruses. Moreover, it has been found to be one of the least memory-consuming AV products in the market.

    • Meh, i have 16 Jigabytes of RAM. If this sucker can get up to 88 then good for it.

  • Thanks Op. I had a 3-PC license which is all used up. Need another seat for another PC so this one comes in time.
