Current Halloween special of 65% off. They seem to have 65% off every other month.
Use Coupon Code "metadata" to get an extra 10% off! Enter coupon code directly under shopping cart.

So total for you is $44.96 when signing up for a year.

Rated by choice as #1 VPN in June 2015.

If you use Netflix USA it seems you may need SmartDNS (at extra $2.99/month pre-coupon) if you need US access through a device a) that doesn't have a VPN client and b) you're not VPNing at the router level.

Located in Singapore, not USA. Singapore doesn't have data retention policies, unlike USA and Australia.

Get to it! Malcolm Turnbull is watching you.

UPDATE: Much thanks to UFO

Be careful with this company. They have a policy for a free refund after trying it but they'll use any excuse to not honour it. Very dodgy.

    • You made me do some more reading beyond the Choice article and obviously biased affiliate sites and to be honest I'm not sure if I should have given them my money.

They seem to have a really bad reputation on reddit for example - only positive comments I saw were from fake accounts that were obviously advertising. Like here:

      https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/2nnmfm/dont_use_purevp…
      https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/2gmple/purevpn/

They're also HK based, not Singapore.

Come on man… you disrespect Choice as some two bit 'article' and PureVPN as a company with "really bad reputation" from where? A site like Reddit?? Give us break :).

I pay for Choice because they are independent and thorough. I also listen to respected tech websites (NOT affiliates) and they all have no issues with PureVPN and regard it highly.

I just wanted to post after you to offer some balance to your Reddit inspired rant. If you really have given PureVPN your money as you say, you've got 7 days to try them out. Dont trash them an hour or so after buying… that's very unfair.

Like I've said earlier, I'm happy with PureVPN AND the reviews they've gotten. And I'd trust Choice and others over Reddit any day of the week.

Good luck in your VPN endeavours.

Uh… okay? No need to take it so personal.

Wasn't ranting and wasn't disrespecting Choice - I just used them to buy a fridge / washing machine. Just saying I should have done more research beyond that article, and I wasn't impressed with PureVPN's obvious fake account advertising on Reddit - no wonder they have a bad rep there. Nor have I been impressed with their support, who answered my ticket in broken English and ignored two of my questions.

I may refund if the speed doesn't improve, but I have to be careful with how much I use because lots of people seem to have trouble getting their money back, as above.

          @Tir:

          Apologies.

Re-reading what I typed it does sound hot and heavy (at least more than I intended).
The engrish tech is unavoidable in a foreign based company, so if they've missed something hit them up again in another ticket.

This 7 days is your test drive. MAKE SURE they suck before pulling plug is all I'm saying. Get tech to help, change settings, run it till it bleeds basically. Is it torrent speed that's an issue, or just general speed for other stuff?

I do know that some VPN's are better than others for catering to torrent users (and that Pure isnt rated as highly for torrent users). Maybe jump on Whirlpool forums for extra info? Stacks of torrent users there.

        • +2

          @UFO:

In order to go cancel they make you go through tech. Then they want remote access to your computer to then run a LOAD of more speed tests. Then, after they can't do anything, they say you have exceeded the maximum data limit (because of their testing) and aren't eligible for a refund. Very very dodgy.

        • +2

          @UFO: It's okay.

But for the record I just want to update my experiences in this thread.

At first with PureVPN I wasted hours just trying to access Google Music free radio (US only). I tried the old & beta client, changed many of my network settings, tried lots of different servers. Then I started running DNS leak tests, only to find out that all the DNS info listed for the US servers it assigned me were from random places like Taiwan and even Australia. I went on their support chat, and they told me that "sometimes happens", and gave me a specific server to connect to. Sure enough that worked, but I already lost any trust in their client and service. Besides that, the server speed for me has been all over the place.

I then tried the "free" VPN I have with my lifetime Getflix account and it just worked with Google Music first try, and passed all leak tests.

So I put in a refund request with PureVPN for which I'm still battling for 3 days later. It'll probably end in me having to do a chargeback to my credit card like most people (lucky I didn't use Bitcoins).

        • @Tir: To update potential customers in the future - I am now at 6 days, over half a dozen emails, 3 live chats and 2 tickets, and despite their last communication spouting nonsense like " I respect your decision to request a refund", I am still yet to receive it, and they seem to be now ignoring my emails.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY

  • How are the speeds off Aus servers? If positive will switch from PIA

    • 5mbps… pretty bad (US fastest server)

      • Ah really, i get about 30 down on PIA connecting through Syd or Melb server

        • Same… my speeds are 27 down pretty much constant, and I'm in Canberra.

    • From here it shows

      Fastest Server
      Country: Australia
      City: Sydney
      Speed: 61.85 Mbps
      Server: au-sd1.pointtoserver.com

      https://www.purevpn.com/speed-test

May need some Aussie users to check for us.

      • +1

Pure has some amazing speeds. Unfortuantely (for legal reasons) the closest p2p server for Aus is Brunei.

        • Bummer, cheers.

        • @rollo: Nice call! I noticed that this is dated 2 months ago….and there is still no server in Papa New Guinea. Any idea on how long until it's actually up and running?

        • @stevensx: Can use it now, but have to use the beta client.

        • @rollo: Ah that makes sense. Yeah I even double checked when you commented and it wasn't there for anything let alone 'anonymous filesharing' category for p2p. I'll wait until it gets moved forward in an official update.

I've read up more on that issue, just in case anyone's thinking this is flaw with PureVPN only, its not. It's pretty much every VPN available, and is fixable.

  • anyone using PureVPN with DD-WRT?

what server are we meant to select?

I've been with PureVPN for almost 6 months now.. and this price is actually their normal price sadly to say. I have never seen them take away the discounted price in the past year that I have been monitoring them. They have always been "Save 65% now" - $50 USD per year and there is always a pop-up that gives you a 10% discount to bring it down to $44.95 if you purchase within the next 5 minutes.

So to me, there is no deal in this instance.

The best deal was during their anniversary sale to get 2 years for the price of 1 ($50 USD)
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194018

Having said this, I do love PureVPN as a product and would recommend anyone to get this. Just make sure you only torrent in the countries where they let you or else they will bar and suspend your account.

I'm going to downvote this.. there is no deal when it is the normal every day price. #OzRRP

Almost every review website has their regular pricing as "$4.17/month" or "$49.95/year"

    • What about SmartDNS included?

      • +1

No. That's a new deal and only through VPNRanks by the looks of things. SmartDNS is really good for Netflix (US) via TV's and media devices since its much less configuration needed to get working especially on devices that do not support VPN. However, SmartDNS is not secure and does not form encrypted private tunnels, so do not expect it to "protect" you in the same way.

      • +1

SmartDNS does not seem to be included (followed the affiliate link).

It is asking for Activation and subsequently payment.

        • +1

read through posts bud, go to main page of VPN Ranks, THEN go into the PureVPN part for payment.

once you've paid and log in to your account, raise a ticket for the Smart DNS to be activated.

    Thanks
I went through vpnranks website and also had another 10% off code automatically applied.
    BVSAFF75
Brought the total down from US$45 to $40.50

  • Last year, when I was in china, I have successfully accessed social media through purevpn's software. I didn't take a chance to try it outside of the China but my little experience there was fruitful. one of the things it asks when it sets up the software is where you're based - with the two answer you can give being;
    1) China
    2) Rest of the world
The diversity of server locations were also outstanding. I think it worth giving it a shot.

  • Can someone please explain to me why you need the extra Smaart DNS to access netflix overseas?

Would I need that to hook up things like my playstation 4 to the VPN?
