What? Lasers shooting out in the eyes of those behind, even if they are angled down! Who'll monitor their correct mounting?? Pfft.

Also, the only colour light that should be on the rear of any forward moving vehicle is RED making these illegal in Australia.

    • It's not a great light, but it only has RED lights, and those 'lasers' don't point at 'those behind', but at the road below you.

      So not a valid neg!

      • Pretty valid from this pic: http://img.td-imgs.com/images/77/35/167735_13089109138279042… and especially this vid: http://www.tinydeal.com/index.php?main_page=products_video_i…

Looks to be two types available, one with a clear lens and another with a red lens but unfortunately no mention of which version we'll get.

Reviews (your link) are often for a series of products in range & indicate operation of product in general, not just the tail light. I've come across this confusion with that site.

Photos in deal only show RED in use, although confusingly a clear plastic (headlight) version is also shown.

The one in the video is of the clear (headlight) rather than the red tail light version.

Description is of tail light Color: As shown in the picture which is red tail light.

@Infidel: Yeah, fair enough but the problem here is that I cannot find the 'headlight' version elsewhere on their site so I still feel this would be a lucky dip and you wont know which one you'd get until it arrives. Not good enough and the REP really needs to specify which version will be shipped.

          @SteveAndBelle:
I don't think anyone would seriously consider entrusting their cycling safety to a toy such as this.

But product description is tail light, the product photo is of a red tail light. When you order, the product photo is a red tail light. Don't think there is any question about what they should send - a red tail light.

Headlights may sell out before tail lights (as I found before), so not be listed.

        • @Infidel: Ha yeah, going by the lack of Greenie votes I can't see these being too popular anyway ;)

          @SteveAndBelle:
At least it's using AAA batteries we like, not button cells as in some units. That's about all I can say positive about this product.

Another job for the Eneloops :-)

Sharks with laser beams - you people in the West know how to live dangerously.

No Idea where you got the idea this was nay colour other than red from… Also the lasers point at the ground to show a safe passing distance for other drivers. No need to neg this deal.

      • Nah, no idea where: http://www.tinydeal.com/index.php?main_page=products_video_i… & first review: "This bike light has a powerful red laser beam (if you press the Laser mode), the other mode uses the leds (blue, red, green leds) woth different flash modes." Meh, neg away at my comment all you like :)

        • Pretty useless 'laser beam' comes with headlight & tail light versions of this product. Reviews are for both versions.

Deal does not describe multi-colour setting (if it was a feature of this unit, I'm sure it would be described as a hyped up selling point).

The one in the video is of the clear (headlight) rather than the red tail light version.

The lasers will only be visible at night on unlit roads. What is it supposed to achieve?

If cars are passing too close, better to have a flag sticking out the side, or wear a ponytail wig.
(Research shows that drivers allow more space when passing women or children.)
    http://www.bhsi.org/walkerstudy.htm

    • Maybe that's why it needs the multi-coloured lights ;)

    • +1

The trouble is a gullible user (young child) may think those 'laser beams' may actually give them some protection. When they look down, they might see them & assume a driver can also see them.
They won't show in the bright glare of a car headlight, so are just for novelty not safety.

  • Wouldn't this be confiscated by customs due to the laser?

    • +1

Somehow, I think at this price they will be very underpowered & only lead to Customs staff having a laugh at product description ;-)

I have investigated a similar product. Its purpose is to have that line on the road to indicate "THIS IS MY SPACE"

However I feel that if someone is going to run me over, they are either doing it on purpose, or they are oblivious to their environment.

So now I am investigating in another laser that can create a shield around me that can vaporise anything that passes the laser shield

You should launch this concept on Kickstarter. I'd buy that for a dollar!

Lasers are dangerous for anyone's eyes, regardless of claimed mw power, and even if reflected off other surfaces.
A review of 44 Internet-purchased laser products showed only one met Aust. standards. Most power levels were dangerously high above the set power limits, regardless of the 'token' sticker on the item.
    http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4122619.htm

Comparing high powered (up to 110mW) laser pointers with this toy is a bit much. All but 1 of those reviewed devices are not legal to use in most of Australia (mainly 1mW max).

Yes, lasers can be dangerous, but I can't imagine a toy costing a few dollars contains that type of high power device. If these had 2 good lasers for $3 , people wouldn't waste their money on more expensive laser devices ;-)

With both 'laser beams' & all 5 LEDs on, the 2 AAA batteries reportedly last 9 hours. That's a fair indication of the low power output of these 'laser beams'.

It's more useless gimmick "laser beams" for marketing than high powered threat to the eyes raised by the neggers.

Besides, cheaper on eBay! Au$2.99 delivered
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281699615584
    & possibly other cheaper deals

    • … and all images indicate it's RED only too :)

      • Thought you might like that ;-)

      • Were you after a pink one?

    • You need to pay for the shipping and no batteries included.
But we offer free shipping and two batteries are also given.

      • That includes shipping ("Free
Postage") as I stated & most of us have plenty of Eneloop rechargeable batteries so don't need the batteries ;-)

So that's a large 50% premium for 2 standard AAA batteries most don't want!

There are probably cheaper deals - that was the first 1 I found in a quick search of eBay.
