isnt 120mhz american??? in aus ive seen the normal 50, 100, 200, 550, and 600 hrtz, it's got to do with muliplying the 50hrtz used in pal

  • It's actually 240V/50Hz of the main power in Aus. America uses 120V/60Hz

I think he's talking about refresh rates, not power. :)

      • The two are actually directly related (below comment mentions it).

        • Really? What about refresh rates of 75 and 85 Hz on a monitor?

  • +1

Yeah I know. I'm saying the reason for 120Hz or 100Hz in LCD "refresh rate" is not because 50Hz used in PAL but because of the voltage used to power the LCD device. I could be wrong though.

    • 50hz/100hz = PAL
      60hz/120hz = NTSC
100hz/120hz = marketing supposed better motion compensation

  • I saw a 42" 1080p panel at DJs (noname) for $899 and many other retailers are doing them for sub $900. Advantage being you can take it back there if you have a problem and you don't need to pay shipping.

    No deal CoTD.

    • -1

Negative vote just because its COTD? So it it was at Harvy Norman for this price it would be a good deal?

      • Its not a good deal for a 1 HDMI port Yum Cha brand TV which is no longer in existance.

And Stix gave negative in response to other questions.

        • yum cha cha
