Any good deals on galaxy s6?

  • now we have a real bargain!

  • Has anyone found the cheapest iPhone 6 16gb, any colour?

  • Anyone have any idea on whether phones sold on mobileciti are Australian stock?
Looking to pick up iPhone 6s plus, they have it more expensive than retail, but once you factor in the 15% it works out to be about $70 odd cheaper.
did a google search, didn't find anything recent in terms of experiences. I guess my main worry is something is wrong with the iPhone in the future and i take it to the apple store only to be told it's not Australian stock etc.

    • Anyone have any idea on whether phones sold on mobileciti are Australian stock?

      From mobileciti's home page

      AUSTRALIAN STOCK
      100% Australian A-tick Approved

From personal experience my purchases were Australia stock. You can always call them on 02 9893 8886 if you aren't sure.

    • -4

Don't buy an iphone then. I have no idea why you would want the 6s considering it's hardware specs are a massive let down.

      • +1

That flies in the face of just about every review out there, which say that this is one of the best "S" year updates ever: speed, breakthrough 3D Touch, best phone camera on the market, strong body, strong glass. I'm not seeing the let down.

You wouldn't happen to be trolling with your advice, would you?!

        • -6

No, I am serious. Anyone who is saying those things are not experts or are probably paid by Apple.
I cannot possibly see how that mediocre processor they use stacks up to the flagship Lumia or a phone like the Note 5.

There's a reason why Apple is a $700+ billion company. They pray off the stupid with their clever marketing.

        • @tendollar:
Lol, have you done your research properly? The Apple A9 benchmarks compare quiet well to most other leading phones with 8 cores.

And before you say why don't they include 8 core if you've done any mobile application programming before you would know multi-threading support is a b!tch to program into.

        • +3

@tendollar: Lol. Mediocre processor. You must be one of those "but it only has two cores" morons.

Its single-thread performance is off the charts (~2500 Geekbench, vs 1400 for a Note 5), multicore is very close despite having a QUARTER of Android flagships (~4400, vs 4700 for a Note 5), and unlike much of the competition, it can actually sustain its highest clockspeed rather than begin thermal throttling and/or switching to less powerful cores. The end result being for 99.9% of real-world operations (which are not easily parallelised and multithreaded out beyond 2 to 3 threads — the whole reason why Intels CPUs have turbo-boost when you use 1/2 cores), it smokes the competition.

There are many things you can criticise about Apple or iPhones (I'll start: high prices, historically low RAM, walled garden/lack of sideload/App Store policies, the 16GB model), their CPUs aren't one of them.

        • @tendollar: To be honest for me personally, I've had an iPhone for last 2-3years? (when iPhone 4s came out), prior to that to be honest I disliked the apple iPhone, I had never actually picked one up, but just wasn't interested, I thought it was a fad (and to be honest it probably kind of still is).

Anyway, long story short, went into an apple store once to buy a phone for my ex gf at the time for her 21st birthday, and once I started playing with the iOS - i just thoroughly enjoyed it, and never looked back.

I do agree, it's definitely not the strongest phone in the market (in terms of specs), but I personally just love it. Most of my family have samsung, and to be honest I hate the operating system. It's just not for me.

          Each to their own.

  • Can you buy multiple low cost items from different stores to make up the $50? Can't see on terms and conditions either way.

    • +1

Yeah just add to cart. I grabbed a $48 item and a $10 item at the same time.

      • Thanks!

    • Maximum 10 items per transaction, it's in the T&C's.

  • +1

Can you only use this coupon once?

    • +2

Twice. 2 separate checkout. I think is a max of 10 items per checkout excluding postage fee. Max $100 discount.

      • +1

        so total is $200 discount?

  • LG G4 or Galaxy S6 - Which one has better camera?

    • +3

LG G4 can be bought for less than $500.

I would say the S6 comes out on top in nearly every category, but it's more expensive.

      • Thanks buddy. I thought so but so many comments indicated ppl are buying more G4.

    • S6, but both are very good — G4 is second best according to DxOMark.
      http://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/LG-G4-Mobile-review-A-new-con…

But for the price? I'd definitely be grabbing a G4.

      • The issue is to make use of the bargain, I have to spend a minimum of $42.50 on stuff that I don't need.

  • Thanks OP. Finally ordered LG G4 for $458 from QD ebay.

  • anybody knows about the claim of TRS,
is it based on the original ebay price,
    or price after 15% discount?

    • +1

      Wherever the invoice shows

    • +1

      After discount

      • +1

        Before discount.

Because the invoice (show what the shop has received) will be from the shop, whilst the discount provided by ebay.

    • +2

A lot of the things sold on eBay wouldn't have GST attached, so be careful. There is no GST on private or secondhand goods.

For TRS, you need a specific Tax Invoice which will state the GST charged by the retailer.

I'd assume the 15% discount reduces the 10% GST component at checkout.

    • +1

What you paid, so after the 15% discount.

      • +1

        No.

if you buy from TGG, it will be whatever the full amount the retailer has received, and this will be on the tax invoice. ie $666, not $566.

        • +1

Well the invoice I received for a purchase shows the discount and the discounted total (this is the ebay and paypal order confirmations, if the seller sends a different invoice that's a different story).

If you're right and the seller will send their own invoice (which I think many will) which will show the before discount amount (this I'm not so sure of), then that should work for TRS since that's all you need to show. However you technically didn't pay that GST so what you are doing is probably fraud, but I can't see how you would get caught.

However, if you've got a business and are trying to claim back the GST like that then you definitely have to do the after discount amount because if you are audited they will be able to quite easily see you didn't pay that much and you're in trouble.

        • +2

          @CheapBrah:

          1. it's not fraud, full GST was paid on the item (someone has to pay for it), ebay in this instance has done it as a form a "gift voucher". TRS is based on GST paid on the item, not the person who has paid. This is not different to someone has given me a $100 prepaid credit card, and I use the prepaid CC to pay for the goods including its GST component.

          2. when you (as a business) get audited, you will get audited based on the tax invoice amount. you are more likely needing explanation on the "gift voucher" (ie. is the $100 taxable).

        • +1

@googleyahoo69: It comes down to the fact you can't claim GST back you didn't pay for. Maybe TRS is different (I doubt it), but I'm pretty confident you can't legally claim it as a business if you didn't pay it.

Now whether you can get away with it is a different story, with the TRS it's very likely you can. As a business, you can get away with it unless you're audited in which case you will be caught (because when you are audited for GST, they require both the tax invoice and proof of payment, so an amount in your bank/paypal account or a receipt if paying cash.).

        • +1

          @CheapBrah:

but i have paid for it with cash/cc + $100 ebay voucher

        • +2

@CheapBrah: You are wrong. Full price was paid on the item, it's just that eBay paid for a part of it, but regardless it's still been paid for in full. So the TRS is calculated for the full amount. The 15% is completely irrelevant as it is an internal thing done through eBay/Paypal.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

Tried to pick up a pool blanket, but got stuck in this catch22.

    Select item, add to cart
When I close transaction, it says
"Need to request a price from seller" - assume this is shipping which is free to my post code.
When I click on the cart to "ask for a price" it says, I only have one item in my cart, need at least two/….

    ARrrrrgghhhhh

Not participating in this one folks. I really don't have the energy or time this round. It is easy to get hyped up with all those votes and it's fun but at the end of the day you save more if you don't buy anything that you weren't going to buy in the near future anyway. Good luck everyone.

To add this item to you cart you need to insert the item number 371442293025 into the search box on the eBay home page.

This should apply to all group deals that only show a buy-it-now button.

      +2.5% cashrewards :)

  • Shopandmint has 4% cashback as opposed to cashrewards 2.5%. Or have I missed something?

    • +4

Minimum withdraw on shopandmint is $50 vs $5. You would need to spend $1250+ worth of goods before you can take money out. It's up to you to decide which is the better alternative.
