Dan Warner’s been playing gigs and singing on the radio for yonks. His voice is part of the aural backdrop of Melbourne.
It’s easy to forget that he’s very good at what he does.Dan’s latest cd Fall Into The Sky was released last year to critical acclaim. Often when stuff is “released to critical acclaim” it means it’s lofty, pompous and inaccessible. I suppose the cd is a little lofty but it sounds really good. Luxuriously good. And the band Dan assembled to play the cd live is top shelf. Surprised at how good they sound, they developed a hankering to do more gigs.
The sound and the look of the Winnebago Lounge will do Dan’s new band and new sound justice and more. You won’t find a better room north or south of the river. Jane Hendry from the Nymphs and Broads will be Dan’s MC for the evening. Jane sings like an angel. She can’t wait to take this band higher than the top shelf.
