  • Very tempting

  • Windows 10 takes up around 20GB. Microsoft Office is around 4GB.

If you don't mind having only 40 GB to use, then go for it.

    • Not too much of an obstacle depending on your needs. Buy a 128GB MicroSD card, toss all your media on there, can even symlink where necessary (this is what I do with my SP3 i5 128GB). The only things an i3 won't have capacity for are video games, but SP3s aren't great for those anyway. SP3s are great devices otherwise.

      • watchout on which brand of SD Card you use… I've got the Sandisk Ultra and I get Device not Ready errors fairly regularly.. when I take the sd card out an put it back in, it works again. It looks like a fair few people are getting these issues.
        I wouldn't go for 64GB

        • That's weird. I've also got a Sandisk Ultra, although it's a 64GB, and haven't had any issues using it with the SP3. I do think an i3 is a bit limiting and it's the reason why I went the next tier up, but SP3s are expensive devices and people who could really benefit from them, such as cash-strapped students, shouldn't rule out i3 as they're perfectly adequate for notetaking, research, or just being a rather affordable ultrabook. Visual art or comp sci students may wish to upgrade a few tiers though…

Why does Windows 10 take up that much??

My Asus x205TA is running windows 10 and "System and reserved" is 7GB.

          How about online delivery?
You order tonight, we dispatch tomorrow (via startrack express) and you'll usually get it on Friday (if you live in Metro).

That is your own problem mate. Just blame yourself why you do not know how to teleport or why you do not live nearby. Sorry.

    So surface 4 is coming?

    • +2

October 6 Microsoft have a big event on - I think so yes.

  • -4

Surface 4 would want to have cellular internet access.

Hard to believe MS made a "tablet" without it as at least an option…

    • You mean a USB port? Just plug a 4G dongle or little modem to access 4G.
You can also use the 4g on your phone as a hotspot for the surface. It's not hard. lol

      • -1

Not hard to add a little slot to put in a SIM card too. Lol

        • +8

..and all the antennas and radios that it needs, which all take up room and drive up the price.

You'd have double the number of SKUs, I see why they didn't do it.

        • +4

What do you mean it's not hard? There's actually a really complex regulatory requirement for putting sim cards on computers.
Why would you want to turn your surface into a phone? 4G capability does not arise from having a sim card slot.
It's a silly idea and won't achieve anything that can't be done already.
          VOIP is already a thing.

        • 80 dollar tablets have them. And tablets have had them since tablets hit the market. The surface isn't a thin/small device compared to ipad.

        • @Gavman: The $80 tablets that have them are largely sold from foreign sellers and haven't gone through the regulatory process required for a cellular device in Australia.

If rep can do the same price on the I5 version,, I will buy one surely.

  • Very tempted to buy the i5.. urgh..

  • So does it have one year or two years warranty? Can u please confirm Rep?

    • The SP3 has a 2 year warranty in Australia

  • Great price for a great product but yea 64GB of space is very limited..

    • +1

It has a SD card slot, and you can use regular USB sticks and external HDDs. This isn't an ipad. I have a 128GB i5 with a 64GB microSD in it, have installed VS2015/SQL Server and still have 50gb free on the HDD and haven't even touched the SD card. 64GB is fine.

I Dont get how people can use such a timy screen as a laptop! Not sure i could get used to it- its an expensive risk to take

    • 12 inch FHD is plenty for most people, unless they need cokebottle glasses.

    • I am not sure I could go back to a 2kg laptop. I've become very accustom to my 1kg 11.6" laptop (not a surface, didn't want to drop that much coin).

    • Oh I should have mentioned its for programming. That I think would be uncomfortable?

      • rumors that surface pro 4 might include a 14 inch version.

  • I am looking to buy a Surface3 or Surface3Pro tablet…with the 64GB one and if I upgraded to windows 10, do I end up with more space on the SSD or less space…i.e. is Windows 10 going to eat up more space than the current 8.1? Anyone has a surface 3 and put on Windows 10 to know? Thanks

    Not the Pro though…

    • You've linked to a Surface 3. This deal is a surface 3 pro.

      "Not the Pro though…"
      Its a big difference mate.

  • Thinking about buying a SP3, what kind of user would an i3 be suitable for compared to an i5? Any features on the SP4 worth waiting for?

    • Any features on the SP4 worth waiting for?

      We'll tell you once it's released… :)

  • Would this be able to stream XB1 to a TV VHIGH and no LAG?

    • There will always be lag, but it might be small enough to not cause too much dramas. I've streamed my ethernet-wired XB1 to my SP3 on Wifi and the lag was negligible. I played Forza 6 and had no problems, and that's a game that's pretty sensitive to any lag.
