This was being shown on the morning show on Friday and looks really impressive. I've read a couple of reviews about it from over seas and locally. It seems to be real handy because this pen like thing can actually file, buff and shine all in one. Really excited to see how good it actually works.

The item in this deal is primarily for polishing the SURFACE of nails.
It's "better" for the same reason that people buy an electric toothbrush, or professionals polish cars using a buffing machine, or using a power drill, or a jackhammer, or a blender, or any other mechanical device.
One comment - this thing is only "electronic" in that it has a switch to activate the 2 speeds.
The entire thing is mechanical (powered by an electric motor and AA battery), not "electronic".
I mention this because I thought maybe it was some kind of piezo or ultrasonic (electronic) polishing system.
This. It's not electronic. It's powered by a single AA battery that is not nearly enough. Even moderate pressure while buffing nails causes it to stall. It would work better if it was modded to take two batteries. An appropriate price for this item would be around the US$10 that AliExpress selleers are charging for the other Scholl gadged. (This nail care thing is only just beginning to appear on AliExpress, price is still too high).
I'd also check chemist warehouse or the like instore. The last scholl product (foot buffer thingy) was half RRP when first released to get the product out there.
