Highly recommended by Vladimir Alexandrovich Zhadko …

    • Are you the Horse_Ebooks of ozbargain?

An electronic scale and thermometer together.
What a strange combo (to me). What do you think they can be used together for?

      according to: http://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/87259/does-decrea…

"decrease in temperature does decrease the mass, though in most cases that change is exceedingly small…", guess 50kg limit with a 0.1kg incremental won't tell much in this case.

    • Much like the "Wild Wacky Action Bike", there is no sense in trying to understand it.

  • Handy for butchers

    • pretty sure butchers wouldn't use cheap stuff like this.

    • butchers need reliable scales that are adjustable and able to be calibrated reliably. the National Measurement Institute periodically visits most butchers and assesses the accuracy of their scales relative to what they are selling product as. I believe they get fined if the scales are shorting people

      • '…the National Measurement Institute periodically visits most butchers and assesses the accuracy of their scales relative to what they are selling product as…' Sounds like a cushy job; drive around to butchers checking their scales!

A lot of the businesses either don't want the inspector there because they are deliberately doing the wrong thing, or just haven't kept up to date with their calibration schedule and are guilty through negligence. Either way their visits don't really bring anything good for the business. I was told by one of their staffers that they've been indirectly threatened with various butchers knives and been chased out of the shop in some rare cases. It's like being a parking inspector, it's a dirty job but someones gotta do it. They aren't exactly travelling in a luxury vehicle either, more like a utilities truck chock full of measures and tools. Plus if you don't like small, rural towns (I don't) you see plenty of those too.

Great thanks, been eyeing one off in ebay for a while and this is half the price.

Quite annoying they do not include a battery to use it out of the package :/

      blame the BS carrier restrictions.

    • agreed!

Yes, fishing does generally involve quite a lot of weighting for the fish to bite.

  • If this is of good quality it will pay itself in one international trip.
Otherwise you regret buying cheap product and end up paying unbelievable execess baggage charges.
I bought onfrom binglee and after 6 trips still very accurate.love it

    Cheaper on ebay - AU$6.30 delivered: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161752689700

    • it's true, why is he negged?

    • Thanks for the heads up, to eBay I go.

    • thanks :D

    • and you'll get it in time for your trip

  • I'd be happy to buy this but with only 1x 5 star review I'm a bit nervous as to how reliable this product is or what the quality is like.

    • My in-laws have one and it seems to be accurate enough and could comfortably lift around 30 kgs. The grip is not the best but for ~$7 its definitely worth it.

  • Thanks, bought one

  • I paid $6.98 thru PayPal!

Guess you didn't see my earlier comment? Would've negged the deal as a warning to others, but accidentally plussed it before realising the price I was seeing was in USD, and the item I've been watching on ebay is still cheaper, and no currency conversion involved.

      • Yes, cheaper on eBay, and it is not just about the price. With a seller with 14k+ review at 99.5%, that is a hell of a lot better than buying from gearworst. Not to mention cash back and such buying from eBay.

  • I just bought 5. Because OzBargain!

    • You're not planning to weight 5 luggage's, are you?

Thanks bought for $6.30 off eBay from your link

  • it could take a long time to receive the item from gearbest
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/211479

    • Or just never receive it and get dismissive emails in reply. Thanks for linking that thread, I thought it might just have been me that got ripped off by this bullshit company.

  • Fahrenheit degrees Celsius

You do know there is no such thing as Fahrenheit degrees Celsius right???

  • as of 0545 this morning, sold 37 in 24hrs. I bet the seller went "what tha….. "

    • +1

Ha! I should have teed up a commission for all the referral traffic/business I've sent their way :p

If people want to spread the love there are two other sellers with the same item at the same price:

      • #1 has about 82K feedback at 99.2%, but is only showing as 5 remaining
      • #2 has about 39K feedback at 98.8%, but probably won't post to your location (most of Australia seems to be excluded).

Note that there are cheaper alternatives (different design), such as:

      • #3, from $4.90 (pricier from other sellers). Main differences from what I can see are that it has a max load of 40kg, no thermometer, and uses a plastic buckle rather than a metal hook for securing the strap that the load hangs off.
      • #4, from $4.29 (pricier from other sellers). Main differences from what I can see are that it has no thermometer, claims to be accurate to 10g, and uses a metal hook that the load hangs off.

My own experience is from having one like this for ~6 years. It's been pretty accurate and quite handy, but difficult to hang larger/heavier items because:

      • not all items are easy to hang off the little metal hook - this is why I prefer the design of scales like #1-3 which use a strap you can use, and is more suitable for things like suitcase handles.
      • it becomes difficult to pull up/hold steady heavier items using the thin fabric "handle" on the scale - this is why I prefer the design of scales like #1-3 which are easier/more ergonomic to grip.

Only purchase if you're happy for it to arrive after 4 months…or never.

Many people still waiting on VR units from Gearbest bought 3-4 months ago and apparently shipped
