I would be surprised if a single person on OzBargain manages to take advantage of this offer

    • My in-laws are travelling around the UK in 10 days, so there's 2.

      • +15

Are they on Ozbargain though ?

    • +2

      Wrong :)

I'll be pointing it out to my mum (also an Ozbargain member) for her and my dad to take advantage of…so thanks TA!

She'll also probably send it on to all her friends and family over there.

If you see any other Scotrail bargains please, please, please post them TA (and other people). We're hoping to do a fair bit of travel on them next year and unfortunately are too young to qualify for this. I'm signed up for emails but with so many coming in from all the travel stuff I've signed up for it's hard to identify a bargain at times.

Well I'm glad to be surprised then! Maybe a PomBargain expansion is needed or is already in the works.

      • The best thing we did was to join the national trust, can't remember how much is was - check their website but we literally saved hundreds on entrance fees when travelling the uk.

      • If you are travelling with kids, you can buy the Family and Friends Card or if your a student you can get a student card, these cards will save you over a third off the normal ticket price.
However another way of saving money is the lessor known way of ticket splitting, if would take me to long for me to go into detail here. If you go onto this website Martin Lewis money guru and type in the search box, ticket splitting , it will tell out all you need to know.
This guys website is truly amazing and I have saved Thousands of pounds by using it, from ticket splitting, discount codes, vouchers for cheap meals, discount hotel accommodation etc etc. it's well worth having a look at it and no Oz bargainer should head to the Uk without looking here for inspiration!!!

    • Taking my 18 yo son there in Feb to see where I come from and meet his long lost extended family. I will turn 49 during the trip!

    • Family is going to the UK in December, so might be useful for us too.

      • lol

UK train travel can be very expensive.. make sure you check out how to fare split. https://www.splitticketing.com

        • Thanks for the link. Do you know of any equivalent systems in other countries?

        • @peterpeterpumpkin: no, I just got back from a few weeks in the UK so used it a little there. It may be unique to how the UKs train system due to different companies etc. If using ticket splitting make sure you research and understand how it works. It's easy but you need to know which trains your getting on. Ie they may be valid for a stopping all station to a destination but not an express to the exact same place.

Why? I'm sure that others on here will either use it or know someone going there who will use it.

Thanks to the OP for posting a very useful deal.

      I might…in about 30 years.

Hope i can jag a window seat!

  • Truely scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
The fact this has 16 upvotes highlights the flaws of this site's voting system, the shitty deals that get upvoted etc. Jus' sayin'

The voting system works fine, you already have two negative votes for your inane comment.

Agree 100%. This site is OZ bargain. For bargains in Australia. The only reason why people are voting for this is because tightarse posted it. He's got a sheep like following.

        You are wrong.

        1. If a deal is available to Australians then it's fair game for posting on OzBargain. Prior to voting I checked the membership sign-up page and ScotRail will allow signups from overseas and will post the photo membership card to Australia. Check the posting guidelines written by the site owner.

        2. Personally, I can't stand the "bargain martyr" drivel which typically frontloads a Tightarse post and I certainly won't +ve vote a deal just because it's his. This post is a legit deal and gets a +ve vote from me. My father is travelling to the UK in November and will be able to make the most of this offer.

        • Every deal on this site is valid, all those deals that get zero upvotes are valid. no need to justify on that basis of validity and potential use

        • @grasstown:

Wrong. Every deal is not valid for posting. Read the wiki.https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:rules_guidelines

Yes, a valid deal is still valid if it gets zero votes. Not sure why you felt the need to point that out in your response to my reply, but power to you.

The "need to justify" was in response to Jelko's misguided sulk "The only reason why people are voting for this is because tightarse posted it". Helping him/her understand that just because a deal isn't relevant to his/her needs doesn't necessarily make the votes by others "sheep" votes for Tightarse (though he/she has attained fandom status here).

        • @OzDJ_: wrong. Felt good aye? Wrong. Just wanted to get it out aye? I meant the other interpretation of what I wrote. The interpretation that was right. The one that made sense. Justifying this as a deal simply because it's valid and able to be made use of is weak. Same justification applies to deals with nil Upvotes. 16, now 35, upvotes highlights the flaws of this sites voting system.

        Baaaaaaaaaaaaa

If it was meant to help, put it in the Forums. Deals for other country's are quickly shoved there but since this is a TA deal it will continue to live on, like his free rides on PTV deal
