  • Haven't used the railways for long-distance travel in years. Not that I regret missing the inevitable intoxicated troublemakers and other undesirables who are travelling on government-subsidized tickets.

    • They are strict on alcohol and will throw you off if you cause any trouble. The last time I caught a regional train they also gave a stern, behave, no drugs we will have you arrested by the police warning when I got on at Strathfield.

      First time I've heard that.

  • There's a few shady sorts that ride in the economy cabins. Much better to shell out a bit more for First Class.

    • You would think first class would let you avoid the shady ones but last time the wife took a train first class to see her mother in hospital, she had an older man creeping on her.
Lucky she was able to deal with it in a respectable manner but she could have just paid for economy and not deal with that crap.

      • That sucks :(

It's free if you don't pay. Some consider that a bargain.

    • lol. i see what you did there

  • Most of the people of trains are pretty passive oldies. Not sure, are the prices on that link pre or post 40% off?

I think the 50 bucks deal is better, and there is still a couple weeks left in it.
