It's still eMMC based. I don't think much improvement was done on CPU end as well…
CPU stuff: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9219/the-surface-3-review/5
eMMC stuff: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9219/the-surface-3-review/4Yep - the pluses are IPS screen and IPS, then the gloss wears a bit thin. "Multi-touch screen with digitiser", WTF is that trying to suggest??? It's a touch screen - ergo it has a digitiser. HP wouldn't perchance be hoping people may think it's Watcom enhanced would they? 4G? - right, one of the pick'n'mix HP options, so find the correct module model then chase down through HP's `under construction' web pages to find if the frequencies are listed somewhere, anywhere.
There is one advantage in the deal - you're ordering through Shopping Express, so there's a reasonable chance it's either in stock, or you'll be informed quicker than two weeks if it's unavailable, and probably won't have to wait a fortnight more for a refund.
Final nail - USB2.

Normally, a when a digitiser is explicitly mentioned it implies an active pen/digitiser. In fact, I cannot think of a single instance where this was not the case, and would be dodgy advertising at best even if technically accurate.

There are active digitiser controllers and pens available from other companies. For example, Surface Pro 3 uses N-trig. This particular tablet apparently offers an Atmel maXStylus active pen/digitiser.
Similar to hp omni other than LTE. Paid $284.
for those wondering why the high price, this might give you a clue, Built to last with durable, travel-tough hardware that passes MIL-STD 810G testing for durability just like Hp's Elitebook laptop range they are tough tablets that are a little more bulky for absorbing shock, use different materials/components and of course cost more
Actually, I think the CPU used in it is the one that's not subsidised as well, or at least, more expensive variety. The price on z3795 tablets were fairly high (i.e. ThinkPad 10), not sure whether that is because both of them are business tablet though.
Nice specs but i'm hesitant to spend so much on an Intel tablet when the new chips are just coming out.
The 14nm chips the ones released so far are showing to being a consideral step up in power with a low wattage use. Longer battery and grunt.
That seems ridiculously expensive for an atom based tablet. Surface 3 (with a newer Atom processor and SSD rather than eMMC storage) is the same price, plenty of Chinese/Acer/Asus ones for way less.
