damn it! Needed ipad and airpods.

    • +1

You’ll need to purchase a Mac and an iPad then

      • Already bought mac during black friday sales. The one i bought in 2017 died so had to replace.

  • +1

I thought the gift card deal from last year was better. Prefer the old fashioned pen and paper for taking notes over writing with an Apple Pencil.

    • +2

I have gone iPad pro and pencil only and no paper on the desk. Pretty handy in these days of hot desking. And does a lot more than a notepad. After twenty years in the one job the stack of notepads was quite large.
Other people use a remarkable for a more dedicated product.

      • What apps do you recommend on it for productivity? I’ve got a MacBook Pro but need something more portable

        • +1

I write most things in Good Notes

        • +3

I use Notability, goodNotes is another decent notepad

        • +1

Productivity? MS 365,SharePoint, Teams and OneNote for office apps, PDF expert and GoodReader for pdfs and sorting meeting papers
I use Nebo for my personal notepad and in meetings, and then transfer to OneNote if I need too (MS handwriting recognition sucks), but the above mentions are also good.

What's the promotion price of 3 year apple care+ for mbp?

  • +4

Education promotion and they misspell “restrictions”.
    “APPLECARE+ PROMOTION RESTRCTIONS”

    • +16

      Someone didn’t use Apple Intelligence

      • -3

or maybe Apple Intelligence doesnt detect it ?
This will cause a doubt on Apple Intelligence, if it trully didnt detect the misspell.

      • Maybe they did

      • maybe it ran out of RAM

      • Should’ve used a spell checker.

The M4 MBA should be out anywhere between now and end of March. It would not be eligible for this promotion, but still, with the AUD where it is the M4 MBA is likely to be more expensive. So an M3 MBA with this promotion is tempting.

    • The M4 Air might support dual monitors with the laptop display active like the base MBP can now do. That alone is reason enough to wait.

      • My understanding is that was a hardware limit on M1 and M2. M3 enabled two displays, so unless apple lock it out with software it will work.

        • M1 Pro & Max could do dual displays, unlike the base M1. Hence a reason to take MBP over the Air. Not sure if it changed in M2-4.

          • @kipps: The Pro and Max are significantly different chips with more integrated Thunderbolt 4 controllers to add more I/O bandwidth which allows them to support more displays.

    • any MBA is eligible :)

  • I bought an iPad Pro a week ago from the edu store 😢

Not sure if it covers a week ago but I just got the Airpods from support for a purchase on December 10th. Try calling support

      • Thanks called them this morning , they were happy to send me the Apple Pencil pro 😊

        • Good outcome!

      • what i i bought on the aoc store, so they wont respect that ?

        • dont think so since the offer is excluding aoc. doesnt hurt to try, i think their support closes in 10 mins

  • +2

Wish it was for credit as opposed to AirPods. The laptop I am looking at is $149 cheaper through AOC. So I guess $150 better off through this promo based on RRP. Could probably end up slightly ahead selling the AirPods on marketplace

    • +2

Yeah pretty meh deal imo. Better off with the AOC pricing unless you actually want AirPods or have time up your sleeve to deal with trying to sell them.

    • But are you paying with 10% Apple GC?

      • No, I haven’t seen this promo. Is this the 20% points deal on Apple Gift Cards?

        • +1

20x points at woolies or coles

          Happens frequently

But you would need to compare 10% off EDU price, plus the airpods vs 10% off AOC price

          • @impoze: U can use 10% off GC at AOC too, just load into ur Apple account balance

          • @impoze: No longer worth the risk imo. Far too many reports of tampered cards. Risking $3000 to save $300.

            • @PainToad: Yes as it was in store only and high rates of tampering was reported I thought it wasn’t worth the risk

              • @kev98: You only need a few cards with variable.

Open them before you check out to validate the codes match as recommended by @WookieMonster

                • @impoze: Didn’t Coles promo end yesterday? Where can these be purchased?

                  • +1

                    @kev98: Subscribe here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/apple-gift-card

The deals happens so frequently now

Edu promo ladts until March 13 too

                  • +3

@kev98: buy ultimate cards at coles, use at jb hifi to buy apple gift cards :)

                    • @tonester: I noticed that new ultimate gift cards are packaged with the barcode covered and that you have to peel away a cardboard section to reveal. It even has a warning that if the seal is broken the cashier should not sell it.

                    • @tonester: Can you buy gift cards with gift cards?

                      • +2

@kev98: Ultimate gift card's terms and conditions and the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy both state you cannot use Ultimate gift cards to purchase any gift cards. However, with JB Hi-Fi, it is up to JB Hi-Fi staff to enforce this policy. If the staff member never asks to see the card you are using as a payment method, you should be able to get away with it.

                        • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks. I guess this would not work online then. Might try my luck in store. Alternatively, I wonder if JB will price match this promo

    • -6

fair game to apple, its a business choice

the airpods probably cost $5 to make, where as a credit for $299 is worth…..$299

    • Genuine question and Something I dont understand is that I was able to go all the way to the payment page without even signing in to my account and getting both ipad pro with pencil pro for $1529,,,, am I missing something when everyone is saying that it’s for students or staff? If I waiit for another week for the X20 EDR points on apple gift cards and buy it will I basically be able to get it for an extra 10% off ?

      • If I waiit for another week for the X20 EDR points on apple gift cards and buy it will I basically be able to get it for an extra 10% off ?

        no need to wait :)

        • Some are saying it’s up to the staff to let us buy with gift cards with gift cards or not so .. should check with someone from JB first

Thanks, this matrix saved my time from browsing the apple website!

    • this is so good. wish it could be added to the description

      • OP could do it.

      • +2

        Your wish has been granted.

  • Do we expect to see an upsized cashback that will stack with this deal?

    • Yeah, unless it can be stacked with that, you might as well buy directly from AOC for machines with higher specs.

  • Better off getting discounted/EDR Apple Gift cards and buying via the AOC portal.

    • +1

Depending on the price difference, it may be better to still buy from EDU store with discounted GC and get the promo item

      • +1

+1 e.g. iPads are same price

      • That's true actually, I thought the AOC discount was a bit higher across all Macs… the AOC discount on the MAC Mini M4 is just under 20% but only just under 10% on an iMac.

  • Newbie question, what is AOC? I have tried to google, cant find straight answer
    Thanks

AOC AU Australian Education Union Store.

It's where people pretend to be students to get discounts.

      • +1

fyi most AEU members aren’t students :)

        • Right you are. They pretend to be teachers, mostly, plus some support staff.

      • thanks

  • Since this is basically a back to school/uni deal, isn’t it weird that AOC is excluded. Seems a bit disingenuous.

    • unlike Education, AOC are specific stores meant for eligible purchasers

    • +1

Apple AOC is an Employee Purchase Program (EPP). It's just Apple hasn't enforced using a work email from Australian Education Union to use it.

It's probably technically the second best EPP (with Apple's own EPP being the best would be my guess, but that one you really must be an Apple staff and there is a quota per year per staff).

      • afaik AOC store eligibility has never been checked online - just need to know correct url

        • This comment may be of interest.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: thanks - obviously one should cancel order if can’t prove eligibility

personally i’m surprised that given AOC AEU exposure here, that they don’t verify at least that store more

OzBargain Premium members should know better to shop elsewhere :)

Boo no pencil with an iPad mini :-(

Go Fund Me for a new keyboard?

    • at our school (BYOD ) the MBA would easily be the most common laptop. Been that way for over a decade. Private school, although out in the boonies and families are nothing like your typical elite school denizens.

If don't sell the AirPods 4 ANC for at least $200 you're better off purchase direct from AOC.

    • +1

Yep, I am going via the AOC portal - hate dealing with people on FB Marketplace and I cannot be bothered with the faff.

      • Wait for the up sized cashback deal. It may save you extra a few bucks.
