  • Does't MEbank also give you 5% cashback?

I would not trust MeBank at all. They are dodgy as. They refused to credit my account with $50 from previous referral deal and claimed it did not fulfill the criteria. But surprise surprise … the referee met the criteria and got the $50.

I would stay away from them. And just wait for a QFF points deal. Your credit rating is not worth $50 when there are better deals around

    • Well here they explicitly say you will not get it unless you got the targeted offer, so you shouldn't expect to get it unless you got the flyer in the mail.

But if you did get it, then there would be no argument about not qualifying (if other conditions are met), so it could be taken to the ombudsman if not… but I'm sure it would be given as there's nothing to gain by not doing so.

      • It was the promo the rep advertised here on ozbargain in December. NO mention of it being targeted

    • I've never dealt with MEBank, so can't really say anything about them..
Actually.. I don't even know how they got my details….

  • A lot of times u need to call them up- I've done this a few times but always got the credit. I even got it backd aged by 6 months once including the 5% cash back. It shouldn't have to be like this but if u want the deal u will need to keep a good eye on it to make sure u get what's advertised.

  • That link doesnt seem to work however http://www.mebank.com.au/personal/credit-card/frank/ Maybe it is time for my to ditch my legacy Virgin now Westpac Ignite credit card for this

    • Doesn't hurt to keep the plain vanila Ignite card. And there is also a balance transfer offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/201003 before 31-07-2015 if you receive the letter.

      • I also have a Westpac Black Card that thing is a pos lucky it was free due to my ex who works at westpac, so not worth the $395 for the card.
Interesting that they are doing offers on Ignite cards as for a long time they have been forgotten about as a legacy offering from last decade so a little amazed that others out there also have one.

    • Sorry. Fixed the link.

Also, I would keep the Westpac Ignite card over this one, purely because you're dealing directly with one of the Big4, rather than a subsidiary.

    • My ignite card got upgraded to altitude with no annual fee.

      • What benefits has the altitude card compared to the original ignite card (which I received when I ceased being a Virgin (lol) card-owner)

        • Rewards. Amex card.

      • -1

Altitude Black is a waste of money, the ability to get lounge access is a joke as I tried to use it one evening and found it closed quite early as one of the selling points for the card it was abit of a let down but then again all these point systems just get you to shell out more money for cheap benefit.

        • I'd agree that most "premium"cards are rubbish, I have a Virgin High Flyer, Black Amex, and a Diamond card from CBA (and maybe a couple from Westpac and NAB too). I'm pretty sure the only "Benefits" I use are the amexconnect deals and the free travel insurance. Add to that all the exclusions on the points system, if I didn't get these cards for free I probably wouldn't bother.

  • MEBANK are no ensuring that rebates and special offers if you are a GENUINE new customer to them. I have now closed off my accounts for all my family members with them. No more MEBANK for my household :)
