  Wow .. i thought these went out with the 80s. So much easier with a decent sharp knife.

    To each his own.
    I find it useful for home made rolled roasts with stuffing. I find it easier as you can guide the slice with your free hand. Also can use on some delicate cakes (finer blade).
    If that's not for you, then you can still use it in a knife fight, extra long extension cord.
