  • I have windows 10 running on mine works a treat.

      any heat issues?

  • AUD $129.90 with code.

  • Was looking at this or the Ainol Windows Mini PC The Ainol got alot of love here Previous Deal

    • The Ainol runs alot cooler than the VOYO

      • Why is that? Don't they both have the same processor in them?

        • The Voyo does not have a real heatsink but uses an Aluminium plate to spread heat. This is good until your CPU goes up to 100% whilst your AV software kicks in for an update and scan in the background. Mine is permanently flipped around with a USB fan blowing on it constantly to maintain a sub 60c temperature at idle or 80c at load (about 15c less than normal).

      • Do you know if the Ainol can be powered by the micro-USB port? My monitor has a fast-charge USB port.

        • +1

Voyo can powered by a Micro USB cable
Ainol uses a 1.7mm barrel device for power
          Both use 5v power packs

        • @wintoand:
Thanks, I prefer the Ainol for heat reasons, I've already had to mod my pipoX7 due to thermal throttling.

I suppose I could solder the barrel connector to a USB charge cable.

  • Available from AliExpress for US$130.68 including shipping so this looks like a good price.

Has anyone tried installing linux on these?

It can run a little warm. due to lack of space, flip it upside down, or small laptop cooler underneath even larger feet raise it a little.
64gb is the way go for these boxes also has the battery inside (mini ups) will keep it going for a few hours.
My First Intel box used all the time Netflix mainly and Plex.

    • +2

Funny how they don't mention the battery. I figure it must be there to fool the Windows authentication server that it is a tablet, for the $0 OEM license.
Nice feature though - I wish my desktop mini had a small battery for when the power cord gets knocked, or lightning cuts the power briefly.

      • Interesting theory on the license. But you cant see the battery in the OS though. Its "just there" but doesnt show up anywhere within the Power sections of control panel.

        • That is odd. Still waiting for my box from gearbest, but will investigate.

Its not the first mini-pc to have a battery that wasn't mentioned in the spec's.

You'd think Microsoft would offer a cheap license for these atom-based screenless mini PCs, but there have been no reliable reports of it yet, and no such devices aside from Chinese vendors, and the
Intel compute stick costs us$60 extra for Windows (us$149 total), though part of that is hardware.

        • @manic:
Its not odd at all. Both Voyo and Ainol offer 8" tablets (both are very crap quality, because I owned both) and at a guess, these devices probably uses the exact same motherboards that also require a DC Battery to get working so it was easier to stick this same setup into the mini pc than having to redesign it all.

        • @bchliu:
The odd bit is what you said about the battery does not showing up in the software. I've no idea why they'd do that. Ideas?

        • @manic:
Battery requires a chip normally to interface with the Windows Power API and show the % and health. This probably doesnt have that and just a pass through battery maybe?

  • Can it run games like BF4?

    • It will probably run, but at like 5fps on the lowest settings

    • +1

It can run BF4 while you use it as a stove-top to cook some eggs

      • Mmmm eggs

  • $130
    Not bad for the features.
As a HTPC it should be a lot snappier than a Raspberry Pi2.

    • The original Pi struggled, but the new Pi-2 runs Kodi just fine.
However, since it is Arm-based Linux, you don't get some things such as Netflix.

  • How good is gearbest in customer service and return? Thanks

  • +1

I have not had a problem. service is good they do try to help sort out issues
use DHL to be sure, free shipping from China can have its moments.
