  • Get 250GB PS3 Slim with PlayTV $599 RRP.

    • As soon as I saw the title, I thought that as well.
DVR with 'extra' blu-ray player for an extra $100…lol.

However, I'm sure there are people out there not interested in blu-ray or games and specifically want a TiVo device.

      • I agree PS3 with PlayTV is a good option - my only issues with that approach are:

        a) you can't record TV while playing games (or can you?)

        b) Tivo is a purpose built DVR and has some nice EPG functions plus it's ability to automatically record programs it thinks you might like. I like these features and I'm not sure if they are replicated on PS3?

        • a) you can!
          b) Maybe with future software updates.

  • I upgraded mine to a 1TB drive only too about 40 minutes all up including removing the drive and replacing…

Been running for 9 months no issues. Thinking of soon going to a 2TB drive.

    • I suspect you can't do a 2tb drive - I think there is a 1.2 or 1.3tb limitation - I have a 1.5tb in mine but the file system doesn't address the full space….

  • Stack this deal with the 5% off gift vouchers for an additional discount!

  • You get the Home Network Package free with the 160Gb model too. I got one from JB about a week ago and it's there online when you activate the Tivo. This makes the 160Gb model better than the 320Gb one as you really need to put a 1Tb drive in it (160, even 320Gb is just not big enough).

  • Does that mean that Tivo uses 3.5" drive?

    • 3.5" sata, but the one's designed for pvr's. Do a google for 'upgrading Tivo hard drive' and you find what you need.

      • I use bog standard non-AV drives (as they are about 50% cheaper) and they work like a dream. They are probably a little warmer, noisier and less reliable than an AV - but I know a lot of people who use these without issues.

  • is this deal still available??

    • If you can find one - yes.

      • There were plenty at Hornsby the other day or you could price match at HN or David Jones
