You get two years warranty through buying your product in Australia which Apple has to honour regardless. Seems a bit overkill buying AppleCare unless you live far from an Apple Store or are very clumsy with your consumer gadgets. Chances are the product will malfunction in its fourth or fifth year when you are out of warranty.

    • Correct but you can't buy Extended warranty after one year of purchase to cover that 3rd & 4th year.

        3 years total, not 4.

  • my external HD blown up in my 14th month. took it to apple store for repair..i did not even mention abt the consumer law protection and they repaired for me foc still.

Undo a few screws and replace with an efficient SSD for $60 to $150 depending on size. Why spend $239?

      • not everyone is good at tech repairs, or knows someone who can do it for them.

its about buying what suits your needs best. for those who are tech savvy, they can do almost anything to their computers, but to an average consumer they may think that having the peace of mind is worth the extra money.

Effectively, this is $239 for one year warranty, which is quite steep IMO. Unless you are so certain that your computer would somehow probably, i.e. not merely possibly, break down in the third year, the cost cannot be justified.

No other service and support program is this expensive either.

Alienware second year is $266, Lenovo $279 depending on the model..e.g the Helix… so might want to rethink that comment.

  • Good deal, this coverage is worldwide as well and considering the purchase price of these machines it's well worth it for peace of mind

  • why is their imac protection plan $255 when it's only $189 from Apple?

  • I get extra year warranty with my Plat. CC so no use to me.

Just an overpriced extended warranty. Not a bargain!

  • Cheaper on ebay etc
