Handy to have a B&M store to take back to, unlike eBay.

Only if you are from Sydney region (3 stores) :-(

Flat fee of $16.95 for all orders under $200 Australia wide - kills deal elsewhere on small order.

    Newsletter sign-up for $50 off $300.

  • These are selling at auburn lights stores for $16. It's not a bargain.

    • Anywhere in melb that sells it for about the same price?

        • Ok. No apparent websites that could be used for price-matching.

  • Are these a good downlight?

I have installed some of the 4000K ARTE and they seem OK for <$20

  • N00b question, am I right in saying that you need an electrician to install these, unless you're DIY on the sly?

    • They are pre-wired with a double insulated plug if that helps.

      • Haha… electrician it is. I didn't even understand that much. Thanks anyway.

        • Can you plug in a kettle or toaster? Exactly the same.

        • @Steptoe:
I don't usually have my breakfast in the ceiling ;-)

Unless you have a handy power point (wired to your light switch), you will need an electrician. (I've never seen that outside commercial installations, but may be common in some areas.)

To use the dimming feature, the light switch will need to be replaced with a dimmer.

I'm having a led downlight installed for my elderly Father. As it is accepted as a safety issue (to help him in a darker area & avoid falls), the Government pays the electricians install cost, I pay for the fitting.

          @brucenotlionelritchie:

My point is that it's a simple plug-in swap for existing downlights. You mightn't even need a ladder

        • @Steptoe:
Damn, you got my oblique Lionel Ritchie reference. You must have been listening to the music in my head ;-) Please, please, make it stop!

Yes, easy for many existing downlight installations. But not all - 2 installed recently here were wired in by electrician. Saw that while dancing on the ceiling :-)

With 1 or 2 lights, hard wiring a new install is often cheaper. Multiple downlights suit the power point approach & allow DIY downlight replacement.
