The thing is, who's gonna pay the repairing costs if accidents happened?

    • +6

Don't forget fuel costs. This thing is thirstier than a drunkard at a bar.

    • +1

Same as any test drive, you sign a form agreeing to a $2000+ excess.

  • +12

test drive considered a bargain???? WTF

    • +4

24hrs for free isn't bad. Imagine if you need to pick up your parents from the airport and all you have is a MX5 or something. Bam, problem solved for free (assuming you can get the car for the suitable day).

      • +2

Its a 24hr test drive. if you cant find an occasion to take up the offer, simply take it down to the supermarket to do your grocery shopping.

    • +3

'tis the official OZBargain service car, hey..

To do justice to a 24HR Test drive, how do we arrange non-stop refueling and driver changes? lol

  • I WONT accept the car without a FULL tank of fuel

    • And i won't refuel it after my 24hr session…

      • +54

I guess you were one of those people who didnt rewind VHS before returning at the video store?

      • I'll actually make sure the tank is 100% empty when I'm done with it.

        • +2

lol that Seinfeld episode where Kramer takes a test drive till car runs out of fuel, says "I'll think about it", gets out and walks away.

I can see Hyundais abandoned all over town

  • +34

These guys must be having nightmares knowing this deal has been posted on ozbargain.

    • +14

I have never seen a Hyundai Genesis in a Demolition Derby (until now). lol

  • +12

If it comes with Roof Racks, then I can use the car to move some small furniture :-)

    • or trap your skis on the roof and take it to the snow

  • +2

I registered … gonna ask what happens if it's damaged and if it comes with petrol lol.

  • +2

I wondered where the vehicles for MAD MAX 5 were coming from…

  • maybe only one or very few for test drive, so you have to wait…

  • +51

What advantages does this motorcar have over, say, a train? - which I could also afford.

  • +1

My feeling is it wont be available for the weekend.

  • I think this car will not be available for the next couple of years of weekends!

    • +9

Unless you put your title as Dr or postcode as Mosman.

I've never heard back from this sort of thing, I'm Sydney SW.

      • +13

In which case they would know you're lying, because those people wouldn't drive a Hyundai

        • +2

Let's revisit that question after this car has been around for 5 years. They said the same thing about Lexus before it categorically owned a serious chunk of the market.

        • +1

I expect Doctors love their freebies though, it takes a special love of wealth to spend that long at school.

        • +2

@tonka: I'm a doctor. I check OzB multiple times daily. And I'm definitely gonna have a go at this free car hire.

        • @sellingoutsoon:

Yes but Lexus was the launch of a new luxury brand; this is an attempt by a Korean car manufacturer known for cars like the Excel to try and move upmarket. They obviously aren't selling hence this offer. You think they will keep this car on sale for 5 years if it doesn't sell well?

        • +1

          @gokhanh:
Saying they are known for "cars like the excel" is a little unfair.
The I30 and Veloster are good sellers and have come a long way from the excel days. With that said, I'm still not ready to own a Korean car

        • @antt: Yeah I'd have to go with @antt on this one but @gokhanh I think what you said was true at some point, but not now. Let's face it the Excel was bad by today's standards, but it's not made today. Secondly, Japan's earlier attempts (especially Honda) were laughable. Having said that, the higher-end Toyotas, even from the late 70s and 80s are close to spectacular. Fast forward 20 to 30 years, and I've never heard a bad thing about an I30. This is very obviously Hyundai's first worthwhile attempt at doing something amazing. Even the critics are impressed. The problem is, Lexus isn't getting any worse, and arguably neither are German cars. Free servicing, guaranteed buy-back, the only thing bad I can see about buying a used one is the likelihood of it being ex-hire. What the naysayers possibly aren't seeing is that since Kia and Hyundai merged (for want of a better explanation) they've been the fastest-growing car company in the world. For some time too. What's great is that the consumer wins. It's good to see at least two real competitors to Germany.

  • Only in NSW. Im Brizzie.

    • +2

      Where does it say NSW?

      • Late but it was the address at the right corner of their page. They have 2 locations and all in NSW.

    • Hey at least your not in Perth..

  • +6

    It's the concierge I feel sorry for….

    • yeah how does he get home? haha

      2 cars or something?

      • +2

you drive back with him to the dealership, sign your liability away, credit card imprint…. and off you go!

    • +3

It's the people who were genuinely interested in test driving this car that I feel sorry for - first for thinking of buying a Hyundai, secondly for possibly not being able to any more because OzBargainers who have no intention of purchasing the vehicle taking all the test drive spots.

Ozbargain Quarter Mile Hyundai Genesis Race 13th June 2015…BOOK IT.

  • +4

haha, someone has to remind hyundai of this :
    http://www.smh.com.au/world/car-salesmans-worst-nightmare-as…

  • +2

And this made the front page….whyyy??????

  • +1

I do need to service my car soon…

  • +1

They could be offering an i20 for 24 hours. Wouldn't that be fun? You could feel like ….just anyone…. driving one to work or Uni, every day. I'm already depressed. This car is unquestionably about luxury, and frankly, a test drive for 24 hours is better than a bargain. Not very focussed marketing IMHO, as the offer seems unvetted; they should possibly be targeting their market a bit better, unless they're just trying to get as many people talking about it as possible. Looking at their other marketing efforts, this seems likely. Absolutely a bargain, if you consider the cost of petrol, an…investment in an experience. Downside? Maybe the daily drive will be a bit more pedestrian after being in a cinema of silence, with a hyperspace pedal.

    • +2

I think you can assume it will be vetted and those that don't qualify will receive some nice junk mail in lieu.

  • +1

I live in Sydney. I will be in traffic for most of my drive and I am scared of some shit driver rear-ending me.

    • +3

Well, then it's their fault. And fwiw, the car will tell you they're about to do it, it's got advanced sonar-type tech. Nothing like feeling the panic of an accident moments before it actually happens.

  • where's the catch..

    • +4

      you crash you buy :^)

    • +6

The 'catch' is that you can expect a barrage of follow up calls from a salesperson trying to convince you to buy one.

      • +15

Isn't that what $2 SIM cards on oz bargain are for?

    • +1

putting up withe sales staff hours before and hours/days afterwards.
it will be worse than timeshare sales people.

  • How long do I lose out of 24 hours while I fit a Turbocharger?

    • +1

Tomioka does one I think. Has 232kW and nearly 400Nm of torque out of the box. So may not need one. Should shock the kids with buzzboxes. Always fun.

  • +1

This is gonna end badly one way or another. Using this as OzBargain intended is not a bargain and could end up costing you badly.

I would neg this if I could. Don't say I didn't warn you if things go South :)

  • +19

I'm thinking I may not buy an ex demo from Hyundai any time soon

  • So test drives are deals now?
Anyway how much is a test drive normally?

    • +2

As close to 15 minutes as you'll accept! I went to a car dealer not too long ago, and for the price of the car I was very surprised that the overtly good-looking and well-dressed salesman had such tremendously poor sales skills. I could have been convinced if he'd have been good (possibly more like amazing), but he was just not as good as his suit suggested. Sad.

  • -3

LOL registered just for the heck of it :)

  • Infiniti Q50 instead please - 268kw, 0-100km in 5.x sec, 6L / 100kms…

  • Do they deliver the car on weekend? It would be nice.

  • Getting a friend to register a drive for one of our wedding cars. (no photos of course).
    Win win

  • +2

hahaha…me too registered just for fun. Be good if I could try the car out! I did see the car out in a shopping centre, it did look very BMW/Lexus/Merc quality.

  • Least has 5 star safety rating

    • +1

Best safety rating of any car ever tested in Australia. I want one.

  • +2

Can a mechanic do the below and post aftermath!
I wonder what will happen if you take the car and place it on one of those machines that moves the car wheels without moving the car (what is it called?)
leave it on for 23 Hours at 200km/h = 4600km travelled.

    • +1

Haha…a dyno. Don't do that. Just enjoy the luxury, that's what it's for.

  • +1

How did they not get sued by Bentley?

    • Well here are also Aston Martin and Chrysler who have similar logo styles.

  • Submitted, lets see how this goes!

  • +3

Use the Cosmo Kramer method of test driving

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuEdU_lrtZk

    • It cut off the best part, where car runs out of fuel and Kramer walks away
