  • Value for money. This tablet is great.

  • Awesome reviews and videos for that quad copter, gonna pick one up

  • In the description it says intel 2.16 mhz, but on the testing screenshots it says 1.33 mhz

    • +1

2.16ghz is the turbo frequency. Some Intel procs have Intel Turbo boost that increases clock speed when the OS demands it. But otherwise it spends most of it's time at a lower clock speed to conserve power.

  • damn, I just recieved my tablet last week from banggood, but I payed close to 300 :(

edit: nevermind, mine was the 3g version,,

    • which link and how much now?

  • +1

    NO! to Banggood…

Crapiest products never will buy from again, bought 5 led flashlights and all 5 did not work, obvious that they wouldn't as it was cardboard with some foil on the bottom. If they can't even get a flashlight right, then not going to consider buying something more from BANGGOOD.

    • Do you have a link to those so that we may avoid them?

      • these were the ones:https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/188483

I bought 5 all duds, my brother bought 3 all duds, all had cardboard with foil on the bottom to look like they would work, all duds no chance of working. I'm not the only one either.

        • So none of the review photos show that. Maybe you could help out the community by uploading yours. It does sound like a pretty raw deal!

        • I bought only one and it's been fine.

  • I just bought the 8 inch Teclast last week for about $185 with coupon code "3f3128". Coupon worth 7% off and works on all Dual-OS tablets but not on this deal because it's a flash sale.

  • Anyone with this tablet able to comment if it is capable enough to run Adobe Lightroom? I'm looking for a cheap windows 8 portable lightroom machine

FYI, they will NOT honor price protection.

    • Amended: they have finally honored it today.

Thanks for the post, I negged it as Banggood shouldn't really be trusted for these expensive items.I don't have much spare cash and wasting money on faulty products isn't a bargain in my eyes.

I bought a Teclast x89 dual boot after an Ozbargain post.

My advice is stay away from this rubbish, it overheats with 5 minutes use when playing a simple game, seems like the X98 overheats also and is common within the brand of tablets. The overheating causes constant error messaging. Apparently you can limit the speed, but it takes quite a good understanding of how android works, most of the instructions are translated from chinese so you are pretty much on your own if you are an anglophile like me.

Having to spend 10 hours learning how to reprogram the clock speed and understand XDA, isn't worth saving the $100 or so bucks it would have cost for a decent tablet with an Aussie warranty, also there is a risk I could brick the unit.

This is a disappointment as its a birthday present for my kid's upcoming birthday.

If you going to purchase, buy from an Aussie seller at least you may be able to claim a refund. Overall I wouldn't pay more than $10 for this fancy looking brick………….
move along nothing to see here.

LOL (profanity) my life. I bought the 32GB X98 Air II literally 2 days ago for that same price (but shipped on toll priority from gearbest). Oh well, I have a 64GB micro sd card for it anyway.

I have same issue with Banggood. Please read the review for Teclast x89. Please stay away from this Banggood!

I think the solution is to stay away from banggood period, worst products and company to deal with.

  • Anyone know if this can run adobe lightroom? Considering getting this just for that.

  • Love my X98 3g.I paid AU$320.54 for it from banggood at the start of the year.

The newest bios + lollipop really help the Tablet too.

    • I'm interested in the x98. What's the experience like on android and windows? Any known common bugs or things that are annoying?

      • +1

Prior to flashing the newest bios the battery was terrible (lost 3% per hour in standby)
With the latest bios it now drops 5% overnight so much improved. + there is now an app to reboot the tablet into the other OS which is nice.

Android has a lot of Chinese bloat but it's pretty easy to remove yourself (or flash a rom with it all removed)
There was a problem in earlier revisions of the tablet where 3D games/apps would freeze it but AFAIK it has been fixed since around Feb (no issues here)

Windows is fine. Not a real fan of Windows 8 on tablets though. It just seems a little clunky to me. However, when I plug it into a monitor with keyboard/mouse it's great.

Also comes with a year of office 365 which is useful.

This guy made a few videos and guides for the X98 (and other very similar china tablets):
        https://www.youtube.com/user/hendrickson

There's also a (massive) XDA thread for the x98:
        http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/teclast-x98-…

        • Thanks very much. Sounds like all the problems have been sorted out. I'd grab one if they get below $200.

I was wondering how the resolution works with apps? Do any apps even support such high resolutions?

        • @fufufu:
          Cant really comment here unfortunately.
I haven't had any issues with apps and all seem to scale properly and look fine.

Photos and videos in 2k look much better though which would suggest they arent at a high resolution.

        • Hi, thanks for the info. Does the 5% battery drop overnight apply to windows or android? Did you mean the 2.02 dual boot bios was the latest? On windows mode, I lose about 3-5% per hour in standby.

        • +1

          @ChasinLies:

That was for Android. I used to lose around 3-5% per hour from windows too.

I switched my Tablet over to Windows when I got home from work. 2 hours later it's dropped from 76% to 74%.

Bios 2.02 is the latest for the Air 3G, I believe 2.01 is the latest for the Air II.

    • The listing says Android 4.4, where did you find Lollipop for this? Is there a custom ROM or official software update?

      • +1

There is an official lollipop rom out there (for certain revisions C5J6 fwiw) I believe it is still in beta - only a few weeks old.

However there is a custom 5.0 rom out there for all revisions (on my C9J6 at the moment)

        See XDA thread posted above.

  • I have the x89 and it works fine after you set language to English. it has a glass screen so no screen protector required. only let down is you can't delete the android and just have it as a windows tablet with more space. not sure what people are doing to overheat mine works fine but then I use a PC for gaming and don't try to push an atom into burst constantly.

    • I went about re-installing Windows to give it more space at the expense of Android. The process isn't too bad. You need to type some diskpart commands though, with the command prompt being mapped 1:1 onto the glorious screen and in portrait orientation (recall where the USB OTG port is for your USB keyboard).

  • Is there any dual tablet I can buy in Australia? With warranty I mean?

    • -1

Don't buy from Banggood. The screen on my Teclast failed tonight, it has heaps of lines across it. And to think I got a whopping twenty minutes of use (in total)out of it. It died after I loaded the epic " Crossy Road" and played it for two minutes.

I wonder if they sent me a defective unit as it turned up poorly packed in dodgy packaging.

Anybody know of any 7" tablets that I can buy within Aus? Son's birthday is next week and I'm all out of presents and $183.88.

That's my worst oz bargain buy, won't do that again …………..aarrrghhhh. Nothing over $10 from China from now on.

  • This is the screen problem of my x89.
    https://youtu.be/gaX9SjTHcBE

  • No problems with my recent banggood purchase https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195614
Works as described and turned up in about 20 days

I'm sure there are a few that have problems and want to tell the world about it but there would be far more that have a good result and have no need to mention it.
