@alwnpan: Yes it will be a different number, but its been added to the same account with the main number I use. So I didn't go through the process creating a whole new account to purchase the sim. I currently have 3 different numbers on my existing account.
@cniminc: I'm gonna use this sim mainly for data anyway (on my pocket wifi), so that doesn't concern me. And I can remove any numbers I longer use later on by contacting amaysim to remove it from my existing account.
@alwynpan: Just a personal preference , doesn't really matter. Sorry if you thought if there was something better out of it.

They send you the SIM… Then you activate it online… Then your number is ported, if that's what you requested, and your 30 days starts.
Can we still buy a SIM now and activate the number we chose during signup, even before the SIM they are sending gets delivered?

Do we have to cancel the deal before the close of the 30 days so they don't try chasing us up for next months bill? Or by signing up to bpay will they just automatically cancel us once the month finishes and we don't pay??
log in your amaysim account, going to "My Payment". cick to "Change my payment" choose "Bpay/ vouchers" then save. do that u will cancel automation renewal, with that you can manual recharge or pay for your service.

I concur. Since you purchased the still as prepaid, without cc there would be no way to auto deduct your money.
when you placed your order online they will ask for your CC details for payment, and they will save on your account. which means automation set as auto recharge for your service . if you want that you have to change to another options for payment.

I ordered within minutes after deal posted - only just received notice it had been sent, to receive within 2-3 business days. Ordered new number, no existing account.
Are those already receiving SIMs porting or is it new number? I assume porting may be quicker to send. Also existing account holders already have established ID check, speeding the process.
I bought at 10:30pm (so not at start of deal) and had it delivered via courier yesterday. Ordered new number, no existing account with amaysim. In the delivery options I could choose from two different free options: 1) next day courier or 2) auspost 2-5 days. I chose free next f day courier. I live in Sydney so maybe the free next day courier was available to Sydney metro addresses?

A few have reported pre-activated cards but mine have always started when I visited the site and manually started them.

Once they're activated you can't do jack shit, i had 2 instances of this the best they'll do is crediting you with a couple dollars depending on how many days, but i wouldn't hold my breath in this case since we paid $0 for this deal

People who thinks its pre-activated, try to login to your amaysim account. It should show you steps to activate your SIM. I have ordered SIM with existing number which is with TC, so new SIM came with my existing number but its not activated yet.
of course yours wasn't activated because you chose to port your number, this is the sure way to stop their dodgy practice because they are not permitted to transfer your number until you tell them so.
I think I figured out why my sim (and other people's) came pre-activated…
