For those who are more interested in lesser capacity ipad mini 2. Comparable with earlier deal from Optus ($384 for 32G)
Didn't see anyone post this deal yet

Edit#1
Sorry, my fault. This is WIFI only. Not as good as the deal from Optus which is Cellular.

Edit#2

Yeah we type in at the same time.

+1 Also, beware the woes of 16 GB Apple iOS devices. If you neee to upgrade iOS, after filling storage "too much" you'll need to connect a Windows computer (running iTunes), to provide enough storage for the upgrade(!)

      Silly Apple!

Silly apple? The upgrade file is like 2gb, if you don't have the space they can't magic it out of nowhere. They could just restrict 2gb of storage at all times just for updates but that's a huge waste of storage.

      • or download it on your 'puter and install from there.

but yeah, 16GB is bare bones minimum spec, 32GB has more headroom.

I upgraded from a v.1 iPad Mini to this one thinking the slowness of OS8 would be overcome, but it's only a little better. In some ways the Retina display is a pain - text for some things is so small and can't be enlarged. Should have just waited for a better cpu version.

    • I think you'll find iPad Mini 3's have the same processor+speed as 'Mini 2 does.

On receipt of your iPad Mini 2, be sure to ring Apple Care & make sure your actual date of purchase was used to determine end of Warranty date.

There are some really Old products about. From Kogan, we got the 64 GB Cellular version of this puppy, only to find its warranty had just expired!!!

Another unit we know about arrived (in April 2015) with warranty the expired Feb 2014(sic).

        You've been warned.

        • +2

I thought warranty starts when the device is first activated on Apple servers. Is that not correct?

        • @jlogic: Nope, it's based off the merchants sale date.
If you provide proof of purchase they can update it though.

IV! - Yes I know, that's why I got the 2 - and also why I'm suggesting waiting till they bring out a 4 or better.

    Aus stock or grey import?

  • This or Optus, which one is better, value wise? (32gb is certainly better than 16gb, cellular is better than wifi only)

  • +2

    Optus one

  • Would office works price beat?

  • Thanks OP.

  • Haven't looked at iPads in such a long time.. do these have SD card memory expansion?

    • +2

Welcome to planet earth, no iPads never had SD card memory expansions and never will.

      • oh yes that's right… thanks for the wakeup call.

        Apple… consumer memory expansion? Lol.
