It's only too big if you're planning on holding it. It's excellent on a table or stand. Good deal

    • You're right! I already have a 14" and a 15.6" laptop at home, which serve a similar purpose. I need something smaller for when I'm on the go.

    • +1

Tablets are a conundrum. Too overpriced for a featurelessaptop, Too big to be a personal tablet, but fun to use.

      • I find the ultra great for watching shows especially in the daytime as it's OLED. Also great for pdf viewing. Decent for handwriting. Can't justify the keyboard cover but if would be the perfect travel companion with the keyboard. The best part is that they can stay on with very low power usage and battery drain

  • I do apologise with my ignorance but how does the trade in bonus work do I have really send an old Samsung device ? Thanks

    • As far as I'm aware you don't have to however will cop a $60 late fee

      • Someone said $30 for cheaper device like an old watch

      • +1

Yes, but if you mention a device that has a value, it will deduct that amount as a security hold on your credit card, meaning that amount is gone. If you do not send in the device, the amount will not be refunded. However, if you do send in the device, the amount will be refunded to you.

    • +1

I'm in the process now. Once you receive the new device you get an email regarding where to send the old one. You have to pay the trade in value (which they hold until they have received and checked the condition of the device). Once they are happy with it the money is refunded. From memory, you have a week to send it off after receiving the new device.

  • Is this for Ultra only or Plus also?

    • +2

Also for Plus but only $250 off original price instead of $400 off for Ultra. So not that great comparing to Ultra.

    • +1

Around 898 for plus. I think this size is more manageable for most wanting a tablet.

      • Yes, it’s about $900 off the original price, and the 12.4" size might be perfect for most people's needs.

    • I just bought the S10+ and love it.

  • +8

I received this same tablet keyboard combo through work. Brought it travelling with me for 5 weeks instead of my usual Macbook Pro 16 or iPad Pro w/Magic keyboard. Mainly because of weight cos both of the Apple products (both are M1 so I'm not sure if the M4 iPad/keyboard is lighter) are damn heavy.

    Things I like:
    - Lightweight.
    - The widescreen format is much easier to open two applications side by side compared to the squarish iPad Pro.

    Things I don't like:
    - Some weird quirks with Android and/or Samsung software. For example even though I'm using the physical keyboard if I have Samsung keyboard selected in settings, my Bitwarden password autofill never pops up. Need to change it to Gboard but again I'm using the physical slim keyboard so I have no idea why this matters.
    - But when Gboard is selected and I'm in a full screen app where I type (ie. Windows 365) the Android taskbar always pops up and covers my full screen app. Very annoying.
    - Opening and closing the tablet with the slim keyboard is so annoying and is a two handed operation. My in-laws frequently try to close it like a normal clamshell laptop and the tablet just…pops out of the case. It's a single fixed angle and actually I'm waiting for the day the pin connector fails due to needing to connect and disconnect each time.
    - Many Android apps are just not built for tablets. So I am using some app to force rotation etc. which sometimes causes issues displaying those apps properly.

Overall I still like using it and I think this price is great but just know about the drawbacks going in if you are going to purchase this.

Try using built-in Dex on the tablet. It’s basically a windows interface for android. Apps will work in resizable windows. Much better than android’s default tablet interface on a tablet this size

    • I got the S9 tab Ultra recently and it's great but I've had some issues…

-it's missing some features for an ultra device - missing in built data speed in the notification bar
-power saving mode goes too hard - can't even open the app drawer
-some times the touch screen will just stop working until updates and multiple restarts

      • +2

-some times the touch screen will just stop working until updates and multiple restarts

Sounds like you have a dud. I haven't had that happen on mine. Good luck getting a warranty on that though.

    • +2

I have in older Tab. I bought it about 4 years ago. I use it almost everyday with the keyboard. No issues yet. Assuming the connectors haven't changed in design, they should be quite robust.

      • I've had a Tab S6, S7 and S9 all with the book cover keyboard, which had a kickstand and touchpad. I much preferred the kickstand compared to this slim one. But I do like the size of this Ultra since I haven't brought a laptop.

For anyone with the S9/S10 Ultra book cover keyboard does the touchpad do touch rejection yet? That used to drive me wild on the S6/7/9.

    • +1
      • Many Android apps are just not built for tablets. So I am using some app to force rotation etc. which sometimes causes issues displaying those apps properly.

There's an in-built setting for this if you want to force landscape: Settings > Advanced features > Labs > Landscape view for portrait apps. Alternatively just search "Landscape" in settings app.

      • Will give this a shot, thanks! Also will try Dex as per some of the other suggestions in other comments.

  • how much on edu store ?

    • +2

$1364, no trade in bonus, this deal is better

    • +2

Edu and EPP currently offers a lower trade in bonus and no free slim keyboard cover, so the deal posted by OP here works out to be better value.

  • Can someone confirm what happen if you dont send in your trade-in device ? or send something random instead ? Thanks

    • -3

You will lose the trade in value as this is held by them from your funds.

      • +1

The whole idea if one does not want to send in or have a trade in device to get the $500 trade in bonus.. is to select something with a $1 trade in value. This can easily be done by selecting an old watch/phone model, and then later ticking the physical/liquid damage option. Dont send in the device and then just cop the $30 late fee.

        • If a device is not sent back, do you still get the $500 trade-in bonus though?

          • +1

@sharkatron: For now yes as long as you dont formally 'cancel' the trade in request as per T&Cs and it just sits there as an outstanding late item indefinitely. Untill they patch this loophole i guess. But then again..this has been the way for awhile and has been tested by many in previous trade in related deals without issue.

        • When can you check the liquid damage option?

    • you get charged for the trade in amount once the order goes through, you get that back once they receive the device. depending on what you trade in, it may still be better to not send the device back and cop the fee and resell the original device

  • Wow great price. I just spent $280 for the keyboard alone for my S9 ultra 5G 1tb. Probably could have just upgraded but having 5G is great for work. Also didnt see a need to upgrade from the S9 Ultra either.

    • -1

Looks like a downgrade than an upgrade with the Mediatek SOC….

  • +1

Are those loyalty coupons still a thing?

    • Yes $100, got one this morning for the tab

      • From chat?

        • Tried chat and they say no loyalty discount available on tablets

          • @dbglt: Same I checked as well. No loyalty voucher

          • +4

@dbglt: Call Samsung press 1 and then 1. It goes to the retention team. They will give you one. Chat doesn't know it

              • @kbd67: I haven't placed the order yet but I imagine it works with the 5% app discount.

                • +2

@abs898: oh I just ordered it and the 5% off worked as well. It made the S10 ultra wifi 256gb order $1034.55 with the $10 trade in, $500 trade in bonus, $100 coupon and $400 off RRP. Thank you for the correction

            • @abs898: Do they ask what product you intend to purchase?

  • +9

Wait til the 17th Feb. Samsung are having a secret sale event for 48hrs.

      • +1

I can't see any deals listed there ?

        • +1

You're right - I misread, that link is just for marketing signup.

    • the free keyboard deal ends today, just FYI

    • +1

I called the customer over the phone, and then they said they usually have limited items and don't include galaxy tab on the secret sale. I think its just better to buy it now with the free slim keyboard cover.

    • +1

I saw an ad on Instagram about the Samsung Secret Sale, it advertises up to $1000 trade in bonus for the Tab S10 series and the code is "SECRET2". It might be a better deal if you don't want the keyboard case.

  • +1

Dang i just got the s9 ultra for 1k

    • The s9 ultra is still a beast. Don't stress. Main difference is that the s10 ultra has wifi 7 and a new anti reflective screen. If the s9 ultra was available for a bit less I would have bought it instead.

      • Tab S9 Ultra has received an update which gives it WiFi 7, I haven't got any other WiFi 7 devices yet so couldn't test it (My S25 refuses to create a WiFi 7 hotspot), but others online reported success and I can see WiFi 7 MLO in the settings of my tablet.

    • +2

It gas snapdragon chip, s10 doesn’t. So many people may still prefer s9.

      • The 9300+ in the s10 kills the snapdragon in every test

        • Whats the app support like though?
Yuzu works great on the S9 Ultra

  • +2

I think the S10+ seems to be the right size, ultra is quite big. More a replacement of laptop rather than supplementary device. Both on sale!

  • What about with Sim?

  • From where i can get imei number, if i don't wish to send the device back?

    • +1

Just select Watch and make up a random number

  • Why do i need this?

  • Is the website giving errors?
I am not able to proceed to the cart :(

  • Can this be purchased for the same price at a Samsung store to do split payment and double up on the Amex $100 off offer?

  • +2

Commbank yello customers can also get $100 discount. Need to activate in app and use eligible card to obtain

    • I think u can only use it through the website and they dont have this trade-in deal for samsung partner program. U also lose 5% of the app promotion. Or am i doing it wrong?

      • Yea looks like the $100 voucher code you get from Samsung phone support 1 > 1 cant be used with Commbank Yello website store link. Can only be used on normal Samsung store.

  • Does anyone know how long shipping normally takes? I'm going overseas in a week and hoping this comes in by then.

    • depends where you are obviously but generally pretty quick, within a week

  • Good deal! for everyone that dont have any tab yet.

Been looking review i dont think really much different compare to s9+/s9 ultra. I have s9+ and believe not worth an upgrade this time.

The plus is more handy to carry anywhere you go, for the ulra you might need a table all the time

  • +1

I purchased a mint Tab S8 Ultra from Green Gadgets on Ebay earlier this week for $669 delivered. Wanted to try the larger style tablet without outlaying too much coin. Could be a good option for some. Pretty happy with the larger size thus far. Included pen but not keyboard

    • how did you get it down to 669?

      • +1

eBay had a 20% off coupon for eBay plus members which is quite a regular thing with Green Gadgets

  • Do these work as external monitor connected to a laptop via usbc cable?

    • +1

I don’t believe so, I think the only tablet that had this was the Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 or Tab Pro. This does have a screen sharing option if it is connected to the same wifi connection as the laptop though.

    • they can be used as external monitor for windows wirelessly. there's a name for this function but i dont remember

  • Great value

  • This or surface pro? Mainly for travelling use

    • +2

If you prefer windows( which sometimes has more app support) then that.

Surface also comes with a trackpad keyboard while this doesn't. S9 had a trackpad

    • +1

I have the Surface Pro 9 (Intel CPU) and Samsung Tab S9 Ultra (with the keyboard book case with touchpad, not slim).

The S9 Ultra has better battery life, especially if you're not doing anything intensive. I'm not sure about the battery life of Surface Pros with ARM CPUs, but remember you need to check whether your programs are compatible with ARM CPUs.

The Surface Pro 9 is more portable if you're going to use the keyboard with touchpad case for both. The Surface Pro 9 keyboard with touchpad has another set of magnets that make the keyboard angled, further reducing the space it takes up. Personally, I can use the Surface Pro 9 + keyboard on my lap just fine, whereas the S9 Ultra I need to have my hands right on my belly which is pretty uncomfortable. As a result, I usually keep the Surface Pro 9 keyboard attached, but the S9 Ultra keyboard detached and only attach it when I'm going to do heavy typing or have a desk.

If you're just using it for media consumption/entertainment while traveling, the Samsung Tablet will probably be better.

Amazing deal and great first post. Got the S10+ incl keyboard case for $800 (plus either $30 or $60 Asurion charge for not sending in the trade in):

    • $500 off for trade in (using $1 item)
    • $100 loyalty code through Samsung phone line
    • 5% off for Samsung shop app
    • $100 off with Amex rebate
    • Not sure if my app is bugged, but the app seems to only allow Visa/Mastercard. Doesn't seem to want to accept Amex?

      • My Amex went through fine on the app for the final payment. I used a Visa for the trade-in part though.

        • +1

I actually just got off the phone from support - looks like you have to put the deposit down for your trade-in first, then you can make a final payment - with Amex. The 256GB Ultra also went out of stock midway through my order, so that's also why I couldn't make a payment.

    • Hmmm wonder if i should sell my S9+

  • I’ve got an ancient tab s4 which has been handed down to my son and a tab s7 that I’m using but could easily palm off to my daughter. The Ultra is way too big for me to use in bed and around the house while doing the dishes etc but the plus might be a good choice. Anyone made an upgrade from an S7 to S9 or S10/ plus? Not sure if I’ll see many improvements for my general web/ YouTube/ movie streaming usage other than the bigger screen that is OLED vs the LCD on the S7.

  • Now to wait for JB to do another half price sale like last time

  • +2

I got an S9 wifi a few months ago from the deal that stacked lots of offers. It cost me $690.

I just traded that in for $390 and the $500 bonus and ordered the wifi ultra 256gb on the app with the 5% discount. Ended up being $768!

What a steal of a price and with the keyboard cover it's like double steal. I happen to be in Harvey Norman earlier and had a look at it. It is absolutely humongously massive, but at that price is too good to turn down

    Great deal!
If it turns out being too big, I'll just sell it.

  • out of stock now, I am just too late

    • +1

I just tried and can still purchase it. I'm at the payment page right now

  • Out of stock for 256 wifi version

    • I'm still able to add it to my cart and checkout as of 2 minutes ago. Must be back in stock

      • I mean ultra 256 wifi version

        • So did I but now it's OOS

  • Be aware it's the keyboard slim with no trackpad, no backlight, and no angle adjustment. I voted for this before I realised that..

    • +1

I was also disappointed at first, but would prefer that after watching some videos. The footprint of the tablet with this keyboard is much smaller, the combo is thinner and lighter. The trackpad is arguably redundant with the massive hi-res touchscreen and there's always the bluetooth mouse option, which I'd prefer to the trackpad for productivity anyway. Backlighting would be nice, but not really needed, given the amount of light emitted by this screen.

  • Gutted I missed the 256gb. Hopefully it comes back in stock before the end of the day.

  • Looks like the 256GB wifi Plus is now also out of stock.

    • Been OOS for quite a while (last couple of hrs I checked)

  • Have they nixed the 500 trade in bonus? Doesn't seem to be showing in my cart..
