    Getting cheaper I see.

      Because G4

  • Its a fantastic phone. I paid 458 a month ago during the kogan ebay sale. But i wouldnt buy it from dwi/eglobal if u paid me

    • +5

I will buy from them if someone paid me ;)

      • I would buy it for $100.00

    • +8

You'd rather by from Kogan? lol

  • Worth an upgrade from LG G2?

    • IMHO No. Depends on what you really need. But then again I almost always skip a year when buying phones. Too many incremental upgrades to justify the cost of a new phone every year.

    • I have both.
If you have kids and you take lots of photo, the Laser AF helps a lot.
Other than that, you can stay with your G2.
I have big hand, I prefer the size of the g2.
G3 doesn't have wireless storage function (if you know what I am taking about) anymore which I like the most.

        Wireless storage function?

      • +1

I have a G2 (D802) and one thing I miss a lot even after a year and a bit owning the phone is having a removable battery and a microSD slot for extra storage which the G3 (D855) apparently has.

  • What's better between this and a g5 if battery life and camera are the two most important features? Really, every other aspect seems similar - although I like the splashproof on the g5…cheers

    • the g3 is actually out and g5 probably won't be out for another year or 2

      • haha, i meant the galaxy s5….my bad

    • S5's battery life is better by a lot because Samsung's OLED screen uses less power (oh, it also has fewer pixels).

As for the camera, they're both about the same.

The camera on the recently announced G4 is an amazing camera with much better low light cababilities. One of the reviews said it was letting in 70-80% more light than the G3. The moment I saw the picture samples, I suddently didn't want to get the G3 anymore :(

      • AMOLED screens really don't save much more power than LCD… if at all. The battery life advantage that the S5 has is the 1080P screen having less pixels than the G3, and the S5 has a smaller screen too.
For the camera… G3's OIS might have an advantage over the S5 that doesn't have OIS equipped, but not sure about real world performance.

  • GST included/ Local stock? I'm guessing not

Can anyone comment on EGlobal vs DWI? Any difference in warranty ease?

    • Its the same company. Warranty is crap.

      • In that case I think I'll just go with Kogan then.

  • $30 cheaper than Kogan, not enough for me to buy from a company I don't know much about to be honest, I'd rather pay a bit extra and get it from Kogan. Glad I didn't buy this phone for $513 a few weeks ago.

    • DWI/eGlobal are much better than Kogan, ship much faster too.

      • Any idea how fast their express economy shipping is?

    • +1

My experience with Kogan is not the best. There is no warranty. You fill in the warranty claim and wait and wait and wait until your warranty is over.

      • I have used kogan warranty for a dead pixel on my s3. It was fine, you just have to call them, their email/online forms take ages.

DWI/eglobal warranty is a joke by comparison. Take a look online for plenty of evidence. Even in the latest s5 deal from DWI last week, people are getting dodgy used phones.

  • any issues with the 3g/4g bands on this mobile as id say its a gray import ??

    • -2

Most likely, that's why they can beat kogan price.
BTW i think this is Dual SIM version. Am I rite?

    • instead of neging the guy that answered my question maybe people could give me some information in relation to this

      • +1

Negs warranted, but I will kindly refrain from adding one more.

Very few search clicks would have revealed that the D855 is the single-SIM international model with extensive Australian frequency coverage across all networks, including - for Telstra and Optus network users - 700MHz Band 28 LTE support. Increasingly (already is) important for people who live in, or travel to, regional areas and want 4G/LTE.

Data speed aside, the lower the frequency, the better the in-building penetration and distance covered from the tower. Even in outer-surburbia, you want the aforementioned band present in any new phone you buy. Suitable models still thin on the ground.

As per the deal post, this model also has a memory card slot and a removable battery. Genuine G3 battery is readily available for about 30 bucks.

I bought the D855 via the recent eBay sale, from Kogan, as a gift for someone. You too will likely be very happy with it.

LG G4 has a better lowlight and pixel-spec camera, and a brighter, somewhat more colour-accurate screen, that some people may notice.

It will also be significantly more expensive than current G3 prices, for a very long time to come.

        • thank you for that information mate, really thinking of selling my nexus 4 and upgrading to the Gold G3, soar the G4 reviews on youtube but as usual in Aus we are gona get raped on price for a year+ so might just hold off and enjoy the upgrade to the G3, i was thinking of buying the G3 as well on Kogan till i clicked reviews and soar a huge amount of conflicting information regarding to some people saying that all the bands work across Australia and all providers then a huge amount of people saying that it does not support all 4g bands and only works well with Curtin providers so i just ended up leaving scratching my head, so to clarafy as long as it is ""D855"" model of g3 in Gold i will work well ???

        • @Belv: For future reference..

*saw, not 'soar' - saw is the past tense of 'see'. Birds 'soar' in the sky, and have good eyesight!
*certain, not 'curtin'. Curtin is a suburb in Canberra that I once lived adjacent to - named after a former Prime Minister. He had poor eyesight (and apparently also played Aussie Rules footy)…
*clarify, not 'clarafy', about the G3, which I will now do:

The D855 - 32GB, 3GB RAM model (not available locally) - gold in colour or other, supports ALL frequencies used in Australia except (maybe, probably) Vodafone's split-use of its 850MHz spectrum allowance for 4G/LTE. (Phone will work fine, but may revert to 3G-only in regional areas where you would otherwise be able to access the 4G on offer.)

850MHz LTE support appears in a hidden menu on the G3, but 'til, or if, phone is rooted, otherwise (again - maybe, probably) not readily accessible.

I hope that helps, Belv. Have a good week. Mine will not be that, as I have no sense of what time it is right now.

P.S. When you are unsure of any spelling, Google - sometimes - will be your friend! The English language can be hard and - YES - very often, properly cray /*crazy.

  • Bit the bullet. Will let you all know how it goes. Fingers crossed

  • I couldn't get it to $429 :(
Tried with and without the discount code, and the varying shipping methods. Couldn't get free shipping…
Tried via paypal, or regular checkout. Gave up.

  • woohoo.. been shipped. hopefully it will be here before the weekend.

  • Has anyone received their G3? Is it sealed?
