I just bought 11 boxes of chicken…. Thanks for the coupon code and post tightarse.

Anyways headsup for you fellow ozbargainers

The type and quantity in bang for buck are listed below.

    1. Steggles Chicken Pieces Spicy Hot Tenders - 400g
    2. Steggles Chicken Pieces Tenders Sweet Chilli - 385g
    3. Steggles Crumbed Chicken Crumbed Breast Tenders - 375g

i.e. There will be an extra 275g of chicken pieces if u purchase 11x spicy hot tenders over 11x crumbled breast tenders.

    • Someone just bought out all the spicy hot tenders. Can't add them to basket :( Thanks OP for sorting out dinner for the next few weeks

  • Are these actually real chicken pieces or processed crap coated with a heap of fat?

    • +1

      53% chicken breast, rest crap

      • Thanks thought so. I guess 'tenders' does not mean chicken tenderloins.

(High Horse) - This is one of many reasons why Australia has an obesity epidemic and all sorts of health issues. Time poor/lazy options. Takes no more than 10 mins to actually crumb REAL chicken pieces and stick it in the oven. Although people are addicted to the salt and fat and whatever other crap makes up the 47% so anything real wouldn't taste as good.

Anyway good deal for those who want it :)

        • haha yeah you can actually buy real chicken chilli tenders at coles/woolies, however it costs around $7.50

I am guilty of buying these frozen chicken goods as it is damn convenient.

        • +1

Yeah but it's not really 10 minutes is it. If you don't have fresh chicken, you've got to buy it. If it's not fresh then it's frozen and requires you to defrost it. You've also got to have the crumb mixture ready and need to beat an egg. Then you've got the cleanup after.

There's no doubt the frozen tenders are shit but I hate when tv shows gloss it all down to '15 minute meal' when the reality is that it's not the actual prep and cooking time that's an issue, it's the shopping and keeping ingredients on hand as well as cleaning up afterwards. It's not going to equal hundreds of minutes but it's not 10 minutes anymore. This is being compared to literally grabbing something out of the freezer and sticking it on a tray, less than 30 seconds. There's a reason this shit sells so well.

        • +1

          @Talonparty:

"There's a reason this shit sells so well"

Indeed - People are lazy and/or have poor time mgmt skills and/or different priorities and/or ignorant.

One can still buy the real chicken, spend 10-30mins preparing batches, and freeze. Take it out every now and again and bake. It's really that one off additional 30mins to prepare and put away.

The time people 'save' for convenience will be more than offset both timewise and $$wise in all sorts of health issues associated with eating highly processed crap.

PS: Wrong forum - Still a good bargain!
