  • Not a terrible/bad deal by any means, but certainly not "worth" 179 positive votes..

  • This is all to do with the ebay/Paypal split - to happen later this year.

  • I wonder how this affects those small little things that you get from China for <$1. I mean, if I was unhappy with it or it was damaged in transit do I really need to go through all that effort to return such a cheap item?

I guess what I'm wondering is: is this step mandatory instead of say asking for a refund without returning the item?

Is there any indication of how old the purchase can be? i.e does it have to be made after the policy announcement?

I bought a camera from eGlobal that today they've asked me to send back through the RMA process. $20 for international shipping with tracking.

Wondering if, seeing as I paid by paypal, this will be covered. (I hope so!). The page says "your next purchase" but in fact nowhere does it state that the purchase needs to be made after a particular date…

    • any luck with that? I also need to return an item which I purchased just before the announcement, I've shot off an email to them as well to see what they say..

      • yep :) see last post i thread

        • yea saw that after I scrolled down. They also replied to my email quite quickly stating the purchase must be made after March 17th which may be useful for others to know.

"Please be informed that as long as you have made your purchase after March 17th and are contacting us within 14 days after returning the goods to the seller, you will be eligible for the PayPal Refunded Returns service. Please be advised that there is a cap per refund request set by PayPal which is 45.00 AUD. We look forward to hearing back from you!"

        • @andrewklau:

          Don't ask!

          Just claim… worked for me

  • Weird you need to activate it manually.

    • Not really - you forget to activate it, PayPal isn't obliged to pay. "Whoopsies".

Paypal are playing us for mugs.
This gets paid for, its no gift. Paypal do it to boost eBay sales volume and they recently increased their skim %.
eBay and PayPal seem obsessed with "returns" recently. All sellers are now obliged to do them.

    • But legally they are not supposed to override individual sellers policies nor Australian law (where certain items cannot be legally returned unless damaged).

  • Paypal is still holding my money. Blocked for random security. They suck.

  • What if this is some kind of bait to usher in some new policy regarding returns???

  • What if you paid partially by gift card?

  • Ok.

What's to stop me just using this to get some free shipping to my friend/family in a country that I've bought something paying with Paypal from in the past.

Eg. I buy a camera from England. It's fine, but I want to send a package to my gran for her birthday. WHAT $25 to send that cardigan to england? I'll just get paypal to pay…

All they ask for is a receipt and your paypal transaction ID. There's nothing to link the two together…

    • The honour system

  • Well that didn't take long…

"We are pleased to inform you that you will receive a refund directly to your PayPal account. Your request reference number is (#65266).

Thank you for using our service.

    TELUS International"

I sent the parcel off this afternoon at 3pm, emailed them my receipt and a photo of the package at about 4.30pm.. 4 hours all up!

Pretty happy as I bought the item almost a year ago, it only just had a fault but still being under warranty. $20 return / tracked shipping to Hong Kong…
Damn I should've bought extra cover seeing as I could've been refunded up to $45!

    • Ok telus approved it on the 2nd. Now the 7th and still no refund. Hmmm

  • Refund just given by Telus to my paypal account.

So to confirm, I bought a camera from eglobal almost a year ago and paid via paypal.
Few weeks ago it stuffed up and had to post it back to Hong Kong last week.
Return shipping cost of $20 was refunded. WIN!

My purchase was almost a year ago, well before the refund deal was proposed and I still got the refund

  • This service is an absolute joke! I paid a return service via Australia Post, sent Telus the details/receipt+tracking and they say it is not enough because the Address is not on the receipt. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS TRACKING. This is their reply

"Please be advised that tracking is not enough proof of address for us since it has not got the information needed. Please send us a proof that the item has been sent back to the merchant: a photo of the package with the destination address visible or a copy of the receipt with the destination address visible. As an alternative you can also send a confirmation e-mail from the merchant that he/she has received your item(s)."

Please keep this in mind if you choose to do this service. Looks like I won't be getting my $26 back

    • Hey, did you get your postage paid in the end?
So I need to take a photo when at post office of the package showing address and another of the receipt to be eligible for postage refund?

      • Never got it. Correct take 10000 pictures before you send it off!

        • ah sucks to hear. yea got it covered cheers
