Done.
Bought this in the last sale and I couldn't be happier. Great unit.
I have one of these and it is amazing. The built in grinder and single cup mode make a perfect cup of filtered coffee! For $100 it's a no brainer.
Considering this because the instant coffee at work is starting to dissolve my tastebuds. Any knowledgeable coffee buff out there that can explain the difference in taste between drip and espresso?
Because drip coffee uses gravity to pull the water through the coffee (as opposed to pressurised water) the dissolvable goodies in the coffee are drawn out using a lot more water. Drip coffee spreads these flavours over the entire X ml of water, whereas espresso concentrates it all in ~30-60ml of water. Less intense flavours (in both the positive and negative ways) in a drip.
If you're using this machine at work you'll be able to have great tasting coffee at your beckoning :) Be warned - this is the "blue pill" for your instant habits. Once you start having freshly brewed coffee you'll see Blend 43/International Roast for what it truly is :P
Source: I'm using one of these at my work right now!
Depends on the bean, really.
Espresso is short, punchy and intense, drip is sort of like a long black but with a better flavour profile and a little more caffeine. More subtle flavour notes can be spotted in drip coffee, but so can more flaws. Less body in drip coffee, thinner mouth-feel, a little more acidity.
Just bought one. Decent unit, amazing price.
Just different.
Drip is probably the logical step across if you're generally happy enough with instant. Drip makes sense if you drink black coffee, or the traditional style 90% black with some milk added.
Espresso is much better if you like a shot (that's what espresso is), or milk based - latte, cappuccino etc, which are a shot with textured milk added in. But also more difficult to make and more difficult to get perfect.
Thanks :-)
This unit is quite loud, and I find that the digital clock loses about 5min per week.
Great coffee though.
All grinders are loud. I don't find this one to be unusually loud.
Wow. I have a proper espresso machine but it is a fiddle grinding beans, tamping and cleaning up. Think I might grab one of these and wake up to fresh coffee ready to go.
Got one. Thanks OP!
I bought one of these when they were last on ridiculous discount. Quite pleased with it - especially at the price.
We normally drink espresso at home - but when catering for a crowd, my domestic machine struggles to keep up (and I have to be attentive to all the hissing and thumping noises).
We took the Breville BDC600 'camping' at the beach - and it happily produced ~8 (Australian-sized) cups of decent coffee without fuss. No, it isn't in the same class as espresso - but it is very drinkable. Decent beans help.
Downsides? Not quite as strong a flavour as I'd like AND it makes quite a racket while grinding. It certainly woke people up anywhere near our tent site (sorry).
Not a totally intuitive operation. You DO need to read the instructions - and an absolute must if you want to use the timer function.
At work, this would be a far better way to make decent bulk coffee than standard dripolator set-ups.
Seems to be out of stock now
I can add it now… Maybe getting low?
Many reviewers claimed that the coffee isn't hot enough (155°F) and a number said that the grinder is prone to failure.
I do one full carafe every day at work and me, and all the other coffee drinkers, are extremely happy with it. I preheat the carafe with boiling water, which is recommended, and it's definitely warm enough. I would have bought another one if I had seen this earlier.
Damn. Wish their pro grinders were half price too!
Can anyone compare this style with aeropress? Is it more a french press or…?
I haven't used this particular unit, but I find in general drip coffee is closer to a french press.
An aeropress is much closer to espresso, but would require much more screwing around to make a coffee than this would.
Asked in store to prices match that and they said they can't.
There is insufficient stock available to purchase this quantity for BREVILLE BDC600 The You Brew Coffee System. (Bugger)

Thanks bargainchampion! Just ordered one and got the confirmation email and still not out of stock (Limited Stock)!
Hmm i haven't been able to one to the cart …
I'll keep my eyes open for this one next time Tnx anyway
Got mine this morning. Very pleased! The heat issue mentioned above doesn't seem to exhibit it's self. Feel really nice and solid, and the coffee is pretty good so far!
Thanks OP!
After a lot of hassles I was able to get one from Myers city store Adelaide for $100 delivered. The price matched the online price. Happy with the machine. The strength of your coffee really depends on the bean you use.
You could add that there is free shipping nationwide for this item too as it is over $100 :)
