    • It's not mSata mate and these are longer than full-sized msata so an adapter wouldn't work. So make sure you know what you are getting into and how you will install before buying..

      • Yeah, I soon realised after my comment. Oh well!

  • +2

I have 4 of the 256gb version of these that I got when they first appeared on Graysonline and sold at auction for about $30 each. They've been propagating through other channels steadily for at least 3 months.

I have one of these http://www.ceneo.pl/30552990 to mount them all in one 2.5" bay. (Though I didn't buy it from that site - I think I used Amazon?)

It was a pretty cheap way to make a 1TB RAID of SSDs to keep my Steam library on. ;)

  • anyone know if these will work in the alienware 17 r2 (2015) ?

  • +1

Is this the right M.2->SATA converter for this ssd?
    http://www.aliexpress.com/item/SATA-III-3-to-M-2-NGF-SSD-Con…

    • Can confirm this is the right converter.

  • LOL look at this one just under $2000 WTF????
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SAMSUNG-PM851-128GB-mSata-SATA-II…

    • common on ebay. Temp out of stock? Look at the sold price - $184.

  • +4

    It's not $45+ for a drive and $185 for 5.

They think they can up the price and ozbargainers will still buy them? Haha

    • +4

Stuff that ebayer. Ive changed it to a new ebay store for same drive @ $39 Delivered

    • Well, I at least am glad I bought when I did.

  • What's wrong with one like this- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301417629018?_trksid=p2060778.m14…

You get 6 months (instead of 60 days) warranty…

It's $39, and an M.2. Is it a much slower drive or something?

  • Another listing at that price delivered, with more benchmarks: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cheap-SSD-Dell-128GB-M-2-NGFF-SSD…?

  • Gonna buy one for a NUC. Just waiting on the Broadwell NUC to be released.

      • They are already out, but the question is as mentioned bellow, would these fit?!

        • I checked and they do. But I don't think I will go ahead. Seller declined my offer so screw it. Not a bargain anymore.

        • @jlogic: They're getting greedy now.

And yes, the new NUCs can fit these. AFAIK, the new NUCs can fit both, M.2 PCIe and M.2 SATA, and of any length, i.e. up to 2280.

        • @daerka:

Yeah they take the PCIE and SATA types. Would of been good to use in a NUC.

        • @jlogic: would of made my NUC build a lot cheaper, still unsure about M.2 though, don't know much about it.

With SSD's you know the brands that perform and don't die and the ones that don't. with mSATA and SATA I have no idea if different brands have better performance/reliability than others, but I will get one for when I get my 5th gen NUC (ozBargain please show me a deal soon)!

  • Shattered I missed out on this!

I'm a little confused how people are referencing stock is still available, do you mean other eBay sellers? How do I know they are safe and reliable compared to this seller?

  • +1

The same seller was accepting offers of $30 each previously, so $38 did not seem like the best bargain. Now the same seller has upped the price to over $45 to take advantage of the sell-a-thon. If it doesn't fit your laptop straight as the bare card then the cost of the right sata or Ext case pushes the price close to what an SSD is… except these are used and old (from October 2013).

    • An adapter for standard SATA is only $5 from ebay.
It adds an extra point of failure, but fine for home use.

I'd hoped to upgrade my Chromebox, but these are too long.

      • not all adapters fit these… this has the B + M Key connector…. and plenty of adapters are only M. the $5 adapters apparently don't fit these… correct me if I am wrong there.

        • I believe this would physically fit in either B+M, B or M. Despite it fitting, it is no guarantee it will work. Adapters I've purchased from eBay (untested) are B. Whichever SATA adapter, it should explicitly state SATA and not PCIe.

    • Seller declined my offer so no deal.

  • The m.2 raid from amazon is here I think http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M36C2KK?psc=1

Late to the party and now prices have gone up to $45.50.

Is it still good deal? Can I insert this into Asus chromebox?

    Cheers,

    • There are still more to be had at the cheaper price point from other sellers, see posts above, but no, these do not fit in the Chromebox. Chromebox needs 2242, these are 2260.

      • Thank you daerka. Lucky I didn't just assume it would fit. Thanks.

  • You can't even offer $38.00 auto declines now.

These were bought for less than $20 per piece, actually more like $15 if they bought 100-200 pieces from graysonline. Serious scalping going on :(

These were initially listed on ebay at $139 for 5 with FRee SHipping

Everyone boycot all these sellers for selling more than $35 with free shipping. The price will automatically come down if no one buys.

        • +3

There is still lot of supply at $39 and I am sure if no-one buys for 2-3 days the price will 100% come down. $139 for 5, it was increased to ~$185, no one bought, price came down again, got posted on OzBargain, price increased.

NO ONE BUYS ANYTHING FROM ANY OF THESE SELLERS. There were around 1000 pcs with grays and these sellers have lot of stock to sell. If no-one buys for a week they will calm down to ~$30 levels.

        • Yep and I am trying to reduce demand while keeping supply the same.

        • -5

          @regenade:
Or everyone keeps buying over the next few days and you miss out. My point is the seller has the right to charge what ever they want. Just as you have the right to whinge like a child.

        • +2

@PainToad: Lol see the -ve votes and you understand, anyway its not a very hot item considering its 60mm long model and not PCI-e. Lot of ppl thinking they can just spend another 5$ and use it as an SSD or use it in NUC/Chromecast. See comments in OC forums, no i buying anymore at that inflated prices.

Grays Listing from where these ebay scalpers bought them:

          http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0006-2144266/computers-and-it…

        • @regenade:

see the -ve votes and you understand

I've always understood there are a lot of self entitled cry babies on OzBargain.

no i buying anymore at that inflated prices

Neither am I. But I also accept the seller's right to charge more as demand goes up.

        • @regenade: I wished I'd have seen all those listings back then, I'd have bought a couple hundred and then flogged them off on ebay. lol

  • Nevermind. It doesn't look like it will work.

  • can anyone send me a link of a workable cheap adapter? I just want to use it as normal SSD drive to plug into my SATA slot on motherboard.

    • +1

you are only saving $40 on a refurbished item …. i wouldn't use it to store windows or any important information

pick up a cheap 128 ssd for $60 and get 3 years warranty

      • where can i get a cheap SSD for $60?

        • Where indeed? Cheapest I can see on staticice is $72.

    • All bought from Gray's Auction for $15 or so. They were sold on ebay for around $30 or lower as recently as 10 days ago.
