Dont forgot the $52 cashback from Cashrewards. This deal looks good, just need to wait till April for 4G until I bite.

    • +4

Just remember that you need to stay 3 continuous months on Amaysim Unlimited to qualify for the cashback

      • I've been on Amaysim for about 6 months and have a cash rewards account, but didn't go through them when I originally signed up. Am i still elegible for the cashback and how?

      • +1

Can you tell me where it says you need to stay on Unlimited for 3 continuous months?

        It only says:

Per SIM activation for As You Go: $24.00
Per SIM activation for UNLIMITED plan : $52.00

Won't mind staying PAYG after the first month until I get the cashback. Can anyone confirm if I'll still get the $52 cashback if I'm on the unlimited plan for 1 month and PAYG thereafter?

Pricepal are also offering $40 and $21 from jollywallet.

      • +2

all these offers require you to remain on the initial amaysim plan for 90 days

        • Just wondering where in the terms and conditions does it say that you must remain on the initial plan for 90 day's?

        • Can you recharge using a voucher from say Coles/Woolworths or does it have to be direct debit?

        • @rxjb:

yes, you can recharge with vouchers

        • @easternculture:

Great. Basically with the cashback, over a 3 month period will cost:

          20+44+44-52 = 56? Is this correct?

      • So could you go through all the sites for a potential $113 cashback. Or has bargaining gone to far?

        • I think jollywallet and Pricepal have tool bars that need to be activated once on the site and unfortunately you can only use one at a time but you could probably go through Cashrewards then use one of the others.

        • +2

          @Tasmaniac:

Amaysim has to approve the transactions before the sites can pay you cashback. They would be able your activity from both sites

  • EC are you currently with Amaysim or have been? If so, could you give me your thoughts and review overall?

I'm with Amaysim and have been a customer since September. I live in SEQ and I haven't noticed any dead spots (apart from one little tiny area on my bus route). I don't get the best coverage inside my house but it's fine when I walk out the door (weird I know).

I think with Optus it's a very YMMV situation as I've heard a lot of complaints about the Optus network from some but it's been perfectly fine for others.

Maybe there's some way you could test the network on your day-to-day route to ensure there's no problems?

ive been with them for 2 years now. Ive never had a problem with reception from Sydney. Customer service is from an Aussie Center in Sydney CBD and staff are nice and friendly. Ive had 1 or 2 issues with referrals not tracking but all got solved with a phone call.

The only thing i dont like is you may be waiting a long time for support on Phone/Chat client @ peak periods which can be quite annoying. Longest time ive been on hold is 40 minutes but this has only happened once on Phone and one on chat client.

      Hope this helps

Am I the only one that feels like most "first month" offers are not bargains? Pure bait and switch if you ask me…

    • Ive been with Amaysim for ~4 months and $45 a month for 5GB of data is the winner here. First month was a bonus, but you dont find that good of a deal basically anywhere. It dropped my bill a fair chunk AND got me more data.

I'm in Tassie and I used them for a couple of months last year, I never had any issues and found them quite affordable!. I've turned off the auto renewal now but still keep the sim in case I travel and need cheap mobile data.

    • You will probably find the service has expired by now and you will need a new sim and number if you want to use their service again

  • What's the price of their 10GB Internet alone then? Must be cheaper by now?

  • +2

Why bother $19 for lycamobile which is way better :-)

    • +1

Just ordered a sim, unlimited calls and 5gb for $19 is awesome.

    • +1

Heard they ban tethering and their data is fed through some kind of weird UK proxy. Not sure if still currently a problem, but have been quite a few complaints about data performance.

    • +1

Have a look on Productreview http://www.productreview.com.au/p/lycamobile.html 61 reviews of Lycamobile with a rating of 1.2 out of 5. Say no more! Complaints are mainly about hour long waiting times when calling customer service and very slow speeds. You've been warned!

      • I've been using the service for years they are ok. I do agree that the waiting time for calling centre is a bit long. Other than that their price is good for the time being.

        • When discussing multiple products on one page, please be specific about stating which one your discussing . Just a friendly hint for all :-)

    • What about jeenee 35? Best plan I could find. Includes 4g and is blocked per kb

  • +4

One thing to note re Amaysim's 4G plans is that they've said that the price of their Unlimited plan will need to change to get 4G. Existing users on the $44.90 price point can retain it, but will only get 3G.

    See http://www.amaysim.com.au/blog/general/amaysim-4g-update.htm…

  • Didn't Amaysim used to be $40?

    • It was when I started my plan up. Almost left them because I didn't see the notification of change before hand, and they dropped the free social media. But service and price were too difficult to beat even with the $4.90 price hike

  • be careful with amaysim they can be pretty dodgy and slippery.
ozpost had their ads up saying $20 first month when you buy the $2 sim at ozpost which i did.
then when i went online it wouldn't let me get the $20 deal.
spent 20 mins on their help chat and guy says oh that deal is not for store bought sims its only if we send it to you. its ozposts fault sorry. trying calling our phone helpline they will sort it out.
20 more mins on phone line and gujys says no way we have to send it to you.
gave in (wasting my $2) and got one sent.
it arrived over a week later to inner melbourne (so much for same day delivery) and the usage date was internet rego date so i lost a week of use.
    dodgy company.
someone shud report em to accc/tio.
    beware.

  • Does it work with tethering for internet as one of my friends told me Amaysim does not allow tethering your phone to use data.. Just curious if that is true?

    • woud like to know too

      • I used tethering up to a good year ago on Amaysim, till Boost came out and I happily switched for the much improved reception and internet speeds in my area ( semi-rural area of Brunswick Heads Northern New South Wales ) and surrounds. The company started off great in Australia, with a big following in Europe. After a few years started to increase prices, speeds slowed ( due to Optus 3G congestion and network allocation priority ), and in my humble opinion lowered their service and became more sneaky with offers.

I also had a similar experience as "Garagesale" above late last year, but ended up getting it sorted after some time on phone with $20 credit returned to my account. After a couple of days using Amaysim again, I realised what a big mistake I made ( for my location ), and wish I did not switch for extra data ( what is the use of having more data, when you get bad reception, and when you do it's slow ). Ended up going straight back to Boost, now 2.5 GB to 3 GB for now.

My advice is check your reception and speed first with the Optus 3G in your area before you switch.

        • Thanks for your heads up @ozhunter68, might steer away from it as i'm mostly on the move :(

    • +1

As far as I know, Amaysim have allowed tethering from your phone for a few years now. Otherwise why would they have these relevant links….:

      http://www.amaysim.com.au/help-support/plans-pricing/can-I-t…
      http://www.amaysim.com.au/help-support/video-faq/how-to-teth…

      Tell your friend they're mistaken!

    • +1

      Not true. You can tether.

  • Thanks EC.

Amaysim has great customer service, I dealt with them via online messaging and on the phone, and they were really nice. Been with them for 8 months on the Pay-as-you-go plan, I got the 10GB plan. Really good value as well.

  • Amaysim chanrges data in MB blocks, not KB so it's highly unlikely you will get the amount of data as promised.

  • This worked well.
Firstly have to make sure Unlimited it chosen at the start of it.
Then I was able to get the voucher applied and the $10 credit for next month aswel. Thanks to poster.

One problem though, after calling customer service and asking about disabling my credit card that was used for sign up
(so that there is no way the company could bill for anything extra), I was told I could disable
the signup credit card on the Payment & Billing page.

I specifically asked 'can I do this without having to enter a new credit card number or payment details? '
"yes you can". "its SIMPLE as turning on/off a light switch - you dont understand credit card process very well", i was told.

Sure enough when I got chance to check, there is no way to do this . Not happy with getting BS advice from support.

In this case I used my credit card to sign up a very close friend who is travelling around australia. And I'm sure there are many times where friends or family will borrow credit card number for recharge or sign up fee without wanting their number peremantly linked to the account. So I would not be the only one in this situation. Plus it should be the right of any customer engaging in a prepaid service to disable any form of automatic payment possibly occuring from a company. This is after all a Pre-paid service not a plan.

  • I'm contemplating getting these for some visitors who are coming over in March, who'll only need it for the first month.

However, it says offer ($20 for the first month) expires 28/2/15.

Does anyone know if that's when I need to order the SIM card by or if that's when the SIM card need to be activated by?
