  • Cool. Needed one of these :D Thanks :)

EDIT: Does anybody know where the registration code is?

    • Part of the download. Link3

  • This is a very nice giveaway for the geek! It is the PRO version (the home edition is free anyway).
Includes ISO for the bootable disk, only 50MB, use an old USB stick to create your cool tool or integrate it in a Hiren boot CD for the ultimate tool.

Note if you miss the download page, you can grab it again from

    http://www.windowsdeal.com/my-account/

  • Can someone tell me what this is useful for?

    • Let's say you have an older laptop and you decide to give it another lease on life by upgrading the hard disk to SSD. Burn the downloaded ISO onto CD, buy a new SSD and a 2.5" inch external USB case, put the old HD in the case and attach it to the laptop, new SSD in the laptop, boot from the above written CD and clone the external to internal using the tool and the allign option.
After the process you will find yor laptop much more responsive (hopefully) and you have an external USB drive to reformat and use for storage. .

      • At my last job for a medium sized law firm, they didn't want to purchase new laptops for all the partners but decided to replace the HDD's with SSD's.

So I had to do about 12 laptops, and found a free linux based open source tool online that was very quick and did the job well. I booted off a USB thumbdrive then created an image of each laptop which was stored on a network drive, installed the SSD then re-deployed the image from the network to it.

However, the software posted in this bargain is much much more user friendly for a non-IT person, so thumbs up for the free deal.

There's some "software", and I use that term loosely, that shouldn't get a post here on OzBargain, however this is a fantastic bit of software. Even the free version is great. Good find OP! Thank you.

i tend to just use gparted (free)

  • this is a very good and handy little piece of software :). +1 OP

So … a whole bunch of tools to do things you can already do with built in Windows tools?

    • I don't think windows will convert a gpt disk to basic with your data intact.

    • You can't use said Windows tools if Windows isn't installed or if your installation is damaged or corrupt.

Minitool apart from Paragon and GParted is probably one of my favourites in my Pc rescue toolkit. Grab it while it's free…

    • Just curious - how do you clone a disk with built in windoze tools?

    • … that was my initial impression too.
Only it's solved a few things I wasn't able to do with Window's tools.

    • If you want to extend a partition and the free space on your HDD is not directly after the partition you can't do it in Windows. You need a tool like this that will move the other partitions across and then expand the partition.

    • After I cloned a hdd C:\ to an ssd and deleted the C:\ partition on the old hdd I couldn't get windows disk management to resize the D:\ partition on that old hdd to use the free space behind it. I used the home edition of this software to do it.

  • Convert MBR Disk to GPT Disk. New!

Awesome, can get uefi boot happening without having to reinstall the OS :)

I used the free edition to clone my HDD to an SSD and vice versa, and it has worked well. It has the important "align sectors to the first 1024MB" for SSD's, and doesn't require a boot CD/USB to perform these backup operations at boot time. However, there is no ability to clone a disk to an ISO file, which is imo a much needed feature.

    • ISO files are for CD images not HDD. If you were exporting on HDD it's a raw partition normally stored in .DD format

      • Why do you need that out of curiosity?

        • Currently I use an SSD with Windows on it, and a HDD for storing larger files (media, games etc.). This is a pretty typical setup. Now suppose that I want to make a backup of my SSD in case something bad happens to it. The easiest option would be to create an image file of it, and store that image on my HDD which has lots of free space. However since Minitool cannot do this, I must install a second HDD to clone the SSD to. HDD's are pretty cheap, and I had one spare that I was not using, so it's still a good solution for me. Plus there is the benefit that I can boot straight into that second HDD by just plugging it in, without having to crap around trying to restore an image file. So let's say my SSD dies, or windows becomes corrupted/infected (I don't run any anti virus bloatware), then all I have to do is plug in the HDD and I'm straight back into Windows where I can clone the HDD back to SSD.

        • @pneumatic:

It's rare for the better backup software to save backup image files as ISO. They usually have proprietary archive formats and sometimes zip.
ShadowProtect, Symantec, Acronis and Paragon all use proprietary archives.

        • @Rich2010:

Yes, I realise now that ISO is not an applicable format for SSD/HDD backups. I really just meant to say "an image file of some sort". Someone once told me that ISO stood for "image source output" and I guess that stuck, even though it's incorrect :)

  • Thanks OP. Been using the home edition for a while, this version looks like it has some additional features for dynamic volumes which I probably won't need….but just in case I need it one day.

  • Thanks OP - looks like it's not on a time limit (install by ##/##/####) so it can sit in storage until the installation is required :)

    • +1

Why was this negged? Is it wrong?

      • Haha - no idea!

Maybe somebody on a phone (small screen) meant to plus but hit the minus by mistake???

  • Thanks Op. Downloaded this.

Edit: Out of topic but…I missed out on the earlier Revo Uninstaller Pro…anyone knows any good deal for this software? The best I can find is 50%.
