Tell em the price (annual fee) son…

    • It's sad that I know that joke

only half price on annual fee for the first year and after that its $299/year…the other deal (Citi Signature) would've been better in the sense that it was lifetime no annual fee

Title needs to state the "bargain"

  • Annual fee kills it..sorry.. try harder

I have had this card for many years, and it's benefits have been well eroded over the years. Annual fee used to be $249, but now it has gone up. Earn rate used to include 1.5 Skywards Mile for every A$1 spent in Australia.
I find that the free travel insurance, 2 lounge passes, and return limo are handy (distance limits apply) Emirates used to be good on the upgrades which you could do well in advance and be entitled to limo. They have now restricted upgrades to 'upgrade at check in' and no limo. Not worth $299.

    • And Citibank are one of the worst banks to deal with (in my experience).

We have this credit card but will be cancelling soon. Primarily because they changed our old one which earnt 1.5 points per dollar to this one, which only earns 1 point per dollar, without informing us. Many dramas were had with them reissuing the cards also.

They have waived the annual fee for us for three years, but we can't be bothered arguing for that anymore, seeing as we have NAB Qantas FF cards with no fee as part of the mortgage.

  • too expensive

scratches head so what is this deal?

40,000 bonus Skywards Miles will just about get you an upgrade BANGKOK to SYDNEY.
0% p.a. for 9 months on balance transfers (they should also do cheque to self) $12,000 invested @ 4% $360 before tax. $149 1st year annual fee.

No lounge passes and limo if not flying Emirates. Definitely not a deal

  • Shouldn't this be in the forum?

  • I have been citi bank emirates card holder for past 3 years, they always wave my annual fee

    • They waive mine too [plat card] but who knows, may come a day when they don't.

It's sayonara Citibank if that day comes.

Ain't ever paying for a credit card again. They make enough out of us in Merchant fees and Citibank use to be one of the best rewarding cards, but their points for redeeming rewards just keeps going up.

  • i think it is a deal to pay $149 for the first year and cancel after that.

    • But your credit score will take a hit…

      • I have been doing this since last 3 years, nothing has hit so far as I always get credit I wanted

        • New applications for credit cards do affect your credit score. Maybe not to the point you can't get the loan you need if you have a good job and clean repayment history but people should be aware that every new application does affect their credit score.

  • Fuel surcharges, annual fee and average points earning are the deal breakers on this one for me. There's better out there. Amex platinum edge, citibank signature, woolworths everyday rewards, velocity flyer or high flyer — they're all IMO superior. I haven't negged the offer, but I certainly don't think it's a good deal unless you're flying Emirates all the time anyway.
