Buy early and wear a silly amount of product risk and look pretty silly as well.

    • Hey Josh,

Do you know a better looking design on the market? I would like to learn that as well.

It is not early anyway, it has been invented for years, Segway was design in 2001 and this is essentially a one wheel segway. The first self-balancing unicycle was made in 2011 or earlier. What is really new about Ninebot one are its particular design and safety features,APP connectivity, programmable LED lights, and outstanding looking.

If you are in Melbourne, you are more than welcome to come for a test ride.

      Cheers,

      Jeff

'A MYSTIOURIS ATTACHMENT GIFT' ooo I'm in.

    • +1

If you are serious I am serious. Mail to [email protected] to make the order pls.

      Merry Christmas,

      Jeff

      • When I see a website with proper spelling I might spend more than 5 seconds looking at it.

        • Sorry for the typo. Thanks for pointing it out.

  • +4

Isn't this the kind of thing you'd buy from a showroom with a snooty salesperson and not from an online store of unknown reputation and a budget domain name?

Is it a generic rebrand or copy of http://mobbo.co/
    or http://www.airwheel.net/x3.html

It's probably about as risky as buying a Rolex watch from cheapwristfashion.weebly.com

    • Hi there,

I guess an investment of a decent domain is the way to go. Well noted. I guess if you can buy a Audi A6 with a decent 25% off with a online deal you would go for that, right?

Would you like to have a test ride over Christmas in Melbourne, I am happy to organize that for you if you have interest in this product.

      Kind regards,

      Jeff

      • I'm not in Melbourne, and you haven't specified where your store actually is, or where the item is shipped from.

What if my expensive product breaks and it need to be shipped for repairs? Can you outline where it needs to be returned to, where is the product going to be serviced and what sort of warranty support is there (e.g a support website or a helpline)

Where is your physical address or business on Google Maps Street View?

Do you observe Australian consumer law?

Most importantly: Do you have an ABN?

        • Hi there,

I would consider this is an international offer because, the stock are not based in Australia. No we don't have ABN as yet, because all products are shipped directly from our warehouse in Shenzhen China via HK DHL.

The local address in Melbourne is only for service/repair and demonstration purpose. Not for sales purpose. The details of warranty can be found on the manual shared in the Google+ community.

        • @Jeff L:

Ok, thanks for your honesty. You can only post on Ozbargain's front page if you are a registered Australian business, otherwise the customer has to bear too many risks.

        • So even ebay deals the same? has to bear ABN ?

        • If you dont mind? Can I have you email address? I would like to consult you for something else if you dont mind.

          Jeff

        • If you have any questions regarding the use of Ozbargain, I recommend talking to a moderator.

However I will not disclose my email address, I'm not a business consultant :)

        • Fair enough. I have talked with a moderator before I post actually but we missed the ABN bit in the discussion.

What I want to show you is this:

          http://wheel-it.com.au/

All I am confident is I can offer better than this. That is why I started here.

          Jeff

    • Good reference,

Check my homepage and the highlight sections you will find what I am offering is nothing like mobbo or airwheel.

Does mobbo or airwheel get millon dollar investment from Sequoia Capital like Ninebot?

People laughed really hard on Xiaomi when they start. Look where they are now and that was about 2-3 years ago. So you can doubt a new product but never underestimate it.

      Jeff

      • I'm not interested in your product. Not yet anyway. I know you are a Chinese seller and you are sourcing your goods, possibly dropshipping, from a supplier from Alibaba or similar IPO. Your Google+ photos suggest that the items are being delivered by China Post.

What I'm interested in is: are you actually a legit Australian biz with a registered Australian Business Number?

If you are not a registered business (with ABN) then you're not allowed to post on the front page of Ozbargain.

        Please read the rules

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

        • They are delivered by UPS, China Post might be sticker for domestic section shipping.

        • @Jeff L:

I am pretty sure you stated HK DHL above..! Hmmm

        • Hi Thunder boy,

My sample unit I needed it extra fast for open box video, so I chose to use UPS(arrived in 5days, shipped Monday, arrived Friday). But for sale products it will be shipped with DHL and Fedex with tracking number depending on the order area(within 10 working days I was told).

Thanks for pointing that out. I should have disclosed that detail anyway.

          Merry Christmas,

          Jeff

Silly advertisement for a silly product

    • Hi there,

Have you used one before? May I ask?

It might be a silly ad, because it is our first ad.
But I guess it is fair to call it a silly product unless you try it at least once.

      Merry Christmas,

      Jeff

what type of vehicle is this? Can it be ridden on the foot path? do we have to wear a helmet?
    Is it legal?

    • +1

      TOP SPEED: 20 kph
That sounds pretty fast for the footpath. Pretty important crap to check

Also >mysterious attachment gift is somehow really ominous

    • Footpath and bikepath, recreational area and park lands. You do wear helmet and proper protective gears like roller skating.

It is legal and Vicroad official has commented that it is alright to be used on bike path.

      • The following motorised recreational devices do not meet minimum Australian design standards for safety and cannot be registered:

All petrol-powered bicycles, including bicycles that:
Have had a petrol-powered engine attached after purchase
Were purchased with a petrol-powered engine attached
Are powered by any other type of internal combustion engine
Motorised foot scooters (with or without a seat) – electric/petrol engine
        Mini bikes or monkey bikes
Motorised human transporters such as the WheelMan or SEGWAY
        Motorised skateboards – electric/petrol engine.

These types of devices must not be used on roads or in any public areas such as footpaths, car parks and parks.

Some retailers sell these vehicles and fail to warn customers that they cannot be used on roads or in public areas.

        Taken from http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/registration/unregistered.ht…

This is in relation to Segway, you cannot use it in public area

        • Maybe NSW is not as blessed as VIC or other states for this technology.

Here is a guy using this type of product and he made on local Leader news website in Bayswater:

          http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/bayside/frankston-man-emb…

          I appreciate your reference.

          Merry Christmas

          Jeff

        • @Jeff L:
Your post just said its illegal to be used on public areas

VicRoads vehicle and road use policy director James Holgate was adamant the electric unicycle was subject to all licensing and registration requirements, such as meeting the Australian Design Rules.

“It does not meet the ADRs or standards for registration and therefore it cannot be registered or legally used on public roads, footpaths or road-related areas,” he said.

“It may only be used on private property.”

  • I will give you guys a hint on the gift, it is safety related attachment.

    • +2

One would hope you would include safety related accessories with the product as standard?

      • Do you have lights when you buy a new bicycle?

        Jeff

        • Yes they were built into the bike.

        • Maybe for some special designs but most push bikes that I saw doesn't have lights built in. I am just using that as an example. It is safety related gadgets to raise people’s awareness of the presence of the electric unicycle. I am hoping manufacturer to have this as standard parts as well. That is the reason I put it as a gift not a 5 dollar doll or something else, because it think it is safer to have extra lights.

        • +2

@Jeff L: If I go into a store and the sales assistant is argumentative, I will leave the store, especially when they question me facetiously.

        • I am friendly. But I would like to be reasonable as well. I wasn't making a joke. I was just trying to point out a fact. As soon as I relized that you are comparing this with a motobike or a scooter, I realized you are right, because I was thinking about a push bike. That is why I specify push bikes in the last post. I would like to apologize if you feel offended. Again, my point is sometimes when you buy something, they are not perfect but after market accessories can make them better/safer. I would like to put that accessory as part of the offer because I am safety concerned.

Thanks for your feedbacks. I will watch my technique of discussion with potential customer more carefully in the future.

          Merry Christmas

        • +1

@Jeff L: FYI, I was talking about a push bike, not a motorbike or scooter.

        • I see. Then I would hope you can accept my apology for questioning you facetiously.

I wish you have a Merry Christmas.

          Jeff

    OP - please clarify:

    1. Are you registered for GST and are a business (for consumer protection)
    2. Has this got all the relevant ADR certification and confirm with VicRoads and Councils that this can be riden in public areas
    3. IS what you are selling located in Australia
    4. Show product liability and public indemnity insurance

Without the above, I wish you all the best in trying to flog this to us at such a 'special' price of $999.

I would guess the special gift is a pair of those trainer wheels.

Well done to the inventor of this product, but there's still a long way to go to get this to be a hit in Australia.

    • +1

Op hasn't responded to my questions regarding his business, so this is reported as possible spam.

Edit — OK it's clear now, OP is drop shipping from China and he hasn't registered as an australian business. This is not a deal.

      • Hi there,

Your observation is sharp but not all correct. I didn't realize that you need ABN for post here, because I have seen people post Ebay deals all over the place. That one is on me. I work with the manufacturer directly and I am authorized to provide service. We are trying offer a equally good product that you can buy from ebay while honor the manufacturer warranty.

        Regards,

        Jeff

        • The Ebay deals do require an ABN and a Top Seller rating. It is strictly enforced.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help%3Aposting_guidelines_…

In fact, many eBay deals you see here, are large Aussie owned franchises like Dick Smith, Bing Lee and the Good Guys. There are some exceptions like this but even that post was actually removed before being reinstated because it was not a top rated seller.

If you have any Q's, please ask in https://www.ozbargain.com.au/forum/10041

        • Just a point of clarity.

          • OzBargain does not require an ABN in order to post a deal. If you run a business in Australia, an ABN is probably needed (not my legal opinion). It's free so why not?
          • For eBay posts, you need EITHER an ABN OR be a Top Rated Seller.
        • Hi Neil,

So If I can get an ABN does it mean that I can post here without any problems?

        • @Jeff L:

Like I said, we (OzBargain) don't require an ABN. However, organizations such as the ATO may but that's up to you to research.

        • Thanks for the heads up.

          Merry Christmas.

        • What about deals like from zavvi, asos, or thehut? that is also part of the top rated sellers I suppose?

    • No GST, Not ADR certification yet. The reference regarding VicRoads is from the online reference not exactly done by myself. We are not selling in Australia as an ABN.I am pushing as an international offer. Regarding 4, I would like to have more time to study in details.

      Jeff

  • And by the way, there's 5 minutes of my life gone watching that clip about it…Curiosity got the best of me. And the tech spec sheet is too small. I could barely make out the specs…Which model is being sold?

    • E model

  • +1

Lies! This won't let me fly, I watched the video the guy in the video didn't fly

    • That is a way of saying it. you move effortlessly, in a fashion just like fly or glide.

I got that line from a customer review. So I thought it might be perfect here.

  • +1

You can buy 2 or 3 of them for that price shipped from Banggood.

    • You are correct. What you should ask is why I am not offer that but this.

      Jeff

  • You are correct. What you should ask is why I am not offer that but this.

    Ok. Why?

    • Hi there,

Have you asked the question why someone buys a BMW when he can use the same amount money to buy 2-3 KIA cars. The same idea works here.

This is the official website of Ninebot One. The specs and highlights are stated clearly there.

The design of this particular unicycle is the best you can find on the market. The amount of innovative features you find on this product are new for this industry. The hidden handle, the use of Laxan material, LED lights in sync with your travel speed and direction and battery indication with lED lights rings. Knock to change light effect. Breaking light come with rapid stop. APP connectivity to monitor your odometer, current speed/watt/motor temperature. Travel distance list for top 100 user worldwide on the app. 3 different performance mode for different terrains. Anti-theft lock. Half speed lock for new starters. Special parking attachment and accessory attachment bracket. Unforgettable looking. There is more to be found. Feel free to join the google community to find out.

      Kind regards,

      Jeff

  • VicRoads vehicle and road use policy director James Holgate was adamant the electric unicycle was subject to all licensing and registration requirements, such as meeting the Australian Design Rules.

“It does not meet the ADRs or standards for registration and therefore it cannot be registered or legally used on public roads, footpaths or road-related areas,” he said.

“It may only be used on private property.”

    AS per the OP's post

So its illegal to be used in public areas

    • There is bottom half of news that you should probably share as well. If you did read the whole thing and only post half of it, I don't think it is a fair argument.

      http://wheel-it.com.au/

What do you think of this business then?

I did not start this without any research. I guess if there is a local business working on it, it should be legit.

      Kind regards,
      Jeff

      • No I think you should read it properly, not banned doesn't mean its legal.

You need to do more research. You have to disclose if the buyer can legally ride it on the foot path or not.

        • Hi xcal,

To be frank with you, I have doubt for the legal status of this device as well, because it is undefined and new product.

That is why I didn't use my ABN, but offer this as international deal.

There is local seller on e-bay:

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/191450077656?limghlpsr=true&…

and there is local company offer this type of product:

          wheel-it.com.au

I am simply offering a better product than local counterpart at a more reasonable price.

So maybe I should do my research myself rather than just taking it for granted because there are existing business working on it.

Here is a link of electric scooter that you can buy from Kmart:

          http://www.kmart.com.au/category/kids/toys---shop-by-categor…

they are the same type of device. if the kmart scooter is legit, I would say the same thing to Ninebot One. It is not a proper vehicle so it shouldn't be used on motor-way. But walk path and bike path, I would say they should be arguably alright. It is not banned for sure, because when I ride mine in the city, police officers almost jumped on for a go.

It is not legal or illegal per se. It is undefined to my knowledge.

          Cheers,
          Jeff

        • +1

          @Jeff L:

The law in australia is clear, no pedals and does more than 10 kph not legal, also if it is rated at more than 250w its not legal even if it has pedals.
Does less than 10 kph but must have more than 2 wheels to be classed as a mobility scooter.

This device could only be used on private land that has no public access ie. a privately owned farm or your backyard.

        • @geebee:
          Hi Geebee,

It is clear that it cannot be legally used for road related area. I wrote to Vicroads to clarify that today. Thanks for the sharing the information. I guess I wasn't fully prepared for the legal side of the business and took it for granted because there are existing business are working on this devices.

          Kind regards,

          Jeff

  • Good effort rep… But no one is falling for it

    • Thanks for the comment. First ad, didn't expect to dodge all the bullets anyway. I appreciate all the comments because I learnt a lot from here as well.

      Merry Christmas,

      Jeff

      • Merry Christmas! All the best in your future posts

  • "Dear Customer you need to go to our offical google+ community and become a member to be able to enjoy the launch special offer:"

Then if I need to use Google+ I'm not your customer.

    • Hi Chroma,

I should have put as Dear "Ozbargainer". Thanks for pointing that out.

      Merry Christmas,
      Jeff

  • Hi ,

I am not sure whether it is alright or not. But it seems Segway is legal in Queensland:

    http://www.heraldsun.com.au/travel/australia/from-bans-to-fa…

Maybe so is the One wheel Segway.

    Kind regards,

    Jeff

  • Alright,After a lengthy email conversation with Vicroad Officers. Grass land in parks and reserve or any private property are the areas this device can be used. Road or road related area are off the table. But this is just the case in Victoria. Apparently, Segway can be used in canberra and Queensland with conditions.

    Kind regards,

    Jeff
