    • Didn't get the wired controller, but the rest of my order is the same. Not sure about my third item yet.

  • Nice find OP. Just purchased $140 worth of peripherals from MSY. Will claim $82 from CB so that's roughly 60% off including shipping. Yum.

  • microsoft website down?

  • Anyone recommend a great MS gaming mouse/keyboard setup? :)

  • Can anyone recommend a mouse to go with a mbp?

Using a bt Mac mouse now which sucks hard for work purposes.

  • Any recommendations for a mouse for a laptop? I think I prefer the mini ones though haven't used the big ones for years.

    • +1

My missus uses a Microsoft 4000 I got cheap on eBay 3 years ago. I can't see that model in this deal but it is very similar to the 3500 model which lacks the 2 side-buttons.

  • Urgh that's rubbish. I wanted to get a Surface 2 Ethernet adapter, seems that's one of the items not eligible!

    • The surface adapter is overpriced. Just get one from eBay for $2 (you sometime find black ones for about$5), they work the same. Or get a USB hub that has an ethernet adapter.

    • Yeah, as merill said, it's overpriced. Even the JB HiFi guy was like, yeah, just get a generic one. Get a USB 3.0 one, they are faster.

      • Didn't know you could, wow ta.

        • I am using a generic one by TP links I think, I forgot what brand it was.

That being said, there are ones that double as USB hubs i.e. has extra usb ports as wel as a ethernet port, which you might want.

        • @AznMitch: Will look into that thanx. :)

  • Nooooo! I bought LifeChat LX-1000 for $5 at MSY on the 19th. I could made $7 if I waited a day. :(

  • +2

I may have to buy a microsoft webcam with this sale.

I already have a logitech c920, which is supposedly one of their best, but guess what? Logitech hasn't made drivers specifically for windows 8.1.

So there is constant screen tearing, and there's no longer any widescreen options without dropping the frame rate to 1fps. (profanity) logitech. The screen tearing is the worst part, which happens on any resolution.

I'm sure microsoft won't (profanity) that up. Thanks OP

    • Whats the best ms camera? Anyone know if they have the zoom/pant tilt with remote?

      • +1

their best one is Lifecam Studio, but sadly no remote zoom/pan/tilt

        • Not bad should be able to grab it for 10-15…looks average though…

        • @wisc: Where can you get it for 10-15 (assuming that's after cash back)? I've only been able to find it around the $50-$60 price range (before cash back).

        • +2

@watty: Cashback on the Lifecam studio is $40. So $50-$60 minus $40 cashback is $10-$20.

        • +1

@Dominic: Holly cow! That's some saving there, i thought the discount was 40% off the purchased price not $40 off it. I'm sold on the studios, cheers mate.

        • +1

@watty: No worries. I believe the discount is 40% off RRP. There's a table through the link OP posted that shows the cashback amounts per eligible item. I got the studio for $15. $58 at MSY, price matched orificeworks from $99 to $55 then $40 back through MS for $15. I don't even webcam at all.

        • @Dominic: I'll try MSY as well but if OW pulls out the 'plus postage card' I'll throw warcom at them which turns out to be about $20. Thanks again for the tip! (Oh and I never use webcams as well but my fairly new setup needs a webcam to complete it LOL)

        • +1

          @watty:

just put my claim though got officeworks south Melbourne to price match MSY north Melbourne. 55 bux… 40 bux back, 15 dollar 1080P camera, thank you very much MS.

was also tempted to grab a keyboard, but cheapest I could find it to price match, would have put it at 40 bux after cashback… to much as I don't really need one.

only other thing I was looking at was headsets, but neither MSY north Melbourne or officeworks had any in stock.

        • @wisc: Good stuff! Unfortunately both my local stores were out of stock and I would have to wait till after xmas for them to transfer stock from one store to the other. At least MS gives me a few extra weeks :)

  • awesome deal. and 40%! !!!. bought 3 of the wireless 800s last time. they have been great.

  • *Recommended retail price. Price is set by the retailer.

I saw * on heading and I found this at bottom of terms and conditions. Is that mean you will get 40% cashback of price you purchase?
    Did anyone confirmed with ms?
    Please let me know.

    • As per their previous cashback offers. They give you the money listed in the table on the page. Which is 40% of RRP. Not your purchase price. Which is why it is such a good offer, because most of the items meant you only REALLY paid around 10% of RRP as a end result.

  • Thanks, OP.

Just bought a Lifecam HD-3000 and 800 wireless keyboard mouse combo for a total of $7.90 after OW happily price matched MSY.

  • Bing Lee also has the Microsoft Wireless Desktop 800 keyboard and mouse combo for $19 + cashback. http://www.binglee.com.au/microsoft-2lf-00020-wireless-deskt…

    Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop L5V-00027 RRSP $129.95 Cashback$52.00

Price matched skycomp at Office works in store for $80.56 - $52.00. Which should mean a total of $28.56 for this set!

Skycomp does free pickup in sydney, so not sure if this will work outside of NSW.

    http://www.skycomp.com.au/sculpt-ergonomic-dsktp-usb.html
    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/microsoft-scu…

    thanks for the post OP!

    Cheers!

    • I've used the Ergonomic Desktop L5V-00027 stated above at work and I got terrible RSI from it, I gave it away to a co-worker and bought a traditional keyboard and my RSI slowly went away, my co-worker still uses it but does not enter as much data as I do.

      • Interesting… this one I just bought is actually my second one for my office. I bought my first one at the last microsoft event, after seeing the great reviews online. Been using ergonimic keyboards for about 10+ years now this feels very similar to the rest except this is wireless and takes up a lot less space. Not sure if thats why I had no issue with it. I also use it with the logitech trackball mouse http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-910-001799-M570-Wireless-Trac…. Great combo.

        • Not sure if it makes a difference but I stand whilst I type, otherwise I'd be up and down every 5 mins.

  • regarding the cashback, I will be using my partner to get 3 more devices, but can I use the same bank account for all of them?

    • Why risk the hassle? Open a new free bank account if you only have one. Can be useful as a backup if you lose your card or get it blocked.
ING seems to be popular here.

      • just called the customer support and they confirm that I can use the same bank account. I already have a couple bank accounts, but having M/S cashback to the one account makes it easier for me.

    • I have before with no problem

  • Anyone ever been successful without abn?

    • +4

The ABN is for the seller. You don't need one.

      • Thanks, I thought that may have been the case - just wasn't 100% on the wording and didn't want to screw myself :) Will head to Umart tomorrow :)

      • -1

        ABN a easy read in Wikip…..a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Business_Number

Look at running a business, look at GST need, see and pay for advice from accountant/tax consultant.

  • +1

Painless price-match with MSY at Officeworks Morley. But I got the last all-in-one.
And could not resist $3 for a 800-model combo.

The more expensive 3000 series appears pointlessly bulky.

  • Damn I'm in the NT with only an officeworks/harvey norman and no MSY to price match. Their RRP look a bit excessive to me.

I was hoping to get a mouse and or keyboard that will last me a few years for my laptop :/

  • +2

Strange that no-one has mentioned that the Microsoft Wired Desktop 600 combo (KB+Mouse) is $15 at MSY - http://www.msy.com.au/peripherals/5662-microsoft-apb-00018-6…

    PM at OW = $14.25 - $12 casback = $2.25 if people prefer a wired solution.

Got a couple today no hassles :)

    • -1

Nice deal, I got mine for $8 delivered from Bing Lee. I don't have physical access to MSY stores

So the price must have dropped then because apparently the MSY ones were selling for $20 yesterday according to another commenter in this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/175624

    • +2

I bought the wired 600 combo too :)
I think most ozbargainers prefer wireless for another 75 cents, to find a use for their eneloops.

    • +1

Lots of wired in stock at all MSYs which is a plus.

I was going to buy a wireless but with the minor frustrations I'm experiencing now with my borrowed wireless I decided to revert to the ol' reliable. I suppose at least I reduced my total EMF exposure by a small percentage :) I'm not an Enelooper so I'll also save a few dollars a year on batteries.

  • Thanks OP. Picked up the all in one wireless keyboard for $9 and the Lifecam Studio for $15.

  • +1

Tried to pricematch a Lifecam Studio at OW with MSY, however OW refused to do it with the reason of "MSY return policy is different, it has a restocking fee, therefore we cannot price match".

Strange this is the first time I tried to price match at that OW, maybe it is just the Doncaster VIC OW that is dodgy.

    • Definately dodgy. I price matched at Vermont OW no worries.

      • Yea, haven't had a issue before at Ringwood, Nunawading and Vermont.
Couldn't be bothered getting it pricematched at another OW, so I just bought it at MSY. haha

Got a MSY near me, and would have only saved $2.5 not worth my petrol and time to get it. Just thought I would try doncaster because it was on my way home from shopping.

    • Yeah they tried to use the same excuse with me when i was price matching today (Doncaster OW).

They were specifically checking for restocking fee but luckily PC Case Gear had same return policy.
Now i understand why they were checking, i didnt know before.

    • +1

Same experience too. Doncaster OW refused to price match MSY for $33 All-in-one keyboard.

Then I find another $31 on their ipad and they beat it as $29.5.

      Save $2, Thanks OW.

      • Yea, Try another OW, Doncaster is being bitchy. I price matched Ringwood, Nunawading and Box Hill easily.

      • Could you please post the invoice of officeworks? Or email me: [email protected]! Thank you!

    • It all depends on the place. The guys at fountain gate in Narre Warren are the same. I now go to a newly opened one at Dandenong and they price match it no questions asked. If at all possible I try to buy it directly from the store that sold it without giving my business to dodgy OW.

    • Probably depends on the person you get.

  • If you are getting a broken link from the sites claim form remove the extra www from the front, there are two www.www's for me which Im sure wasnt the case last night. Not like cashbacks to put up roadblocks to discourage peoples claim…

what if the product isn't listed on http://www.microsoft.com.au/cashback/ ?

I'm after the Logitech M705 Marathon Mouse. How will I know what logitech's RRP is?

Also is anyone using this mouse? I would like to get some feedback please, or would you recommend something else?
I do a lot of video editing for long hours, I need something lights and has a good grip

    • +26

I don't think there's much chance of Microsoft doing cashbacks for other manufacturer's products.

      • +6

Jesus, my bad, I thought it was a logitech special. My bad

        • +6

If it makes you feel any better, I'm getting some nice upvotes out of it :)

        • @Thrift: here - have another !

    • good choice, I had it for years and still go stronger. Nice size…Logitech is better than MS…That is why 40% off on MRRP.

  • Does anyone know what the cheapest is that I can get a wired xbox 360 controller for? Staticice gives me $25 from Umart, so after CB should be $9.

  • +1

Thanks Op & Spackbace, your a champ for listing all the options and taking the time & effort to link them through.

  • My free XBOX wireless headset still waiting for me to open it up.

  • Got a Lifecam HD-3000, $6 after the cashback, trying to register the redemption at www.microsoft.com.au/cashback

    Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.www.microsoft.com.au.

Must be those on ozbagain hitting the site! lol

    • +1

Seen the url you're trying to contact contact? ;)

      • Microsoft stuffed up the URL in the T&C, maybe elsewhere elsewhere:

        Terms & Conditions
        1. Register your redemption details at www.microsoft.com.au/cashback (http://www.www.microsoft.com.au/cashback) providing your proof of purchase before 20th February 2015.

Even the "Back to main" link ends up 404.

      • oh yeah, but but I clicked on the link provided by ms

        • I'm sure it was an honest mistake from MS, as alluded by joelmuzz above

  • Claimed mine for my wireless controller. Just waiting for the cashback now.

  • Just picked up a Lifecam Cinema from a clearance table at O/W for $29.00. Cashback is $32.00, so it ends up pretty cheap. :-)

    • Any chance of uploading the receipt for price match? I guess provided that the receipt didn't mentioned it is a clearance item.

      • receipt says "clearance item" :-(

    • if you dont mind me asking which OW was this?

      • Bourke St, Melbourne, but there was only one and nothing else noteworthy

  • +2

Funny that I get this message for the cashback confirmation email using windows8 mail client. "Be careful! This sender has failed our fraud detection checks."

    • How long did it take to the get the confirmation email? I submitted 2 claims this morning, no emails - not even in Junk / Spam folders. I just got a screen with a confirmation number for each claim.

      • My confirmation emails have always been instant

  • Thanks OP, picking up the Microsoft Wireless 3000 K/Board & Mouse and also the Microsoft All In One Media Keyboard at MSY after work today.

  • Got the wireless 3000 and 800 desktops and hd 3000 web cam - got adelaide st officeworks to pricematch and beat msy morningside with zero trouble at all - just had to show msy prices on my phone to the cashier. Paid with $85 of gift cards from work xmas gift. Stock left when I left at 7pm was 1 wireless 3000 desktop, 5 or so wireless desktop 800, 1 hd 3000 web cam and a few sculpt mice. All up paid $43.70+19.00+20.90 = 83.60. After cashback it will come to $11.70+3.00+4.90 = $19.60! Thanks OP!

Did anybody notice the following remark:

The Promoter of this offer is Microsoft Regional Sales Corporation, with Singapore registered office at 438B Alexandra Road, Block B, Alexandra Technopark #04-09/12, Singapore 119968, Republic of Singapore (Promoter).

Also, the redemption form page is not accessible?
    It's suspicious… :(

    • Hardly. Look at the T&C's, the URL Is - http://www.microsoft.com.au/cashback/Home/Terms

But oh no, it's obviously a scam!

    • +4

Good to see you read the fine print - I don't think it deserves a neg for being diligent and seeking reassurance.

When dealing with Microsoft, if no money is involved you're dealing with Microsoft in the US. But if money is involved, you're dealing with Microsoft's Nevada corporation's Singapore branch:

      Microsoft Services Agreement 12.f:

If you live in (or, if you're a business, you're headquartered in) Asia or the South Pacific, and you're using cost-free portions of the Services (such as Bing and MSN), you're contracting with Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052. If you have paid to use a portion of the Services, you're contracting with Microsoft Regional Sales Corp., a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Nevada, U.S.A., with a branch in Singapore, having its principal place of business at 438B Alexandra Road, #04-09/12, Block B, Alexandra Technopark, Singapore, 119968.

      Why?

Business Insider: The Complex Tax Measures Microsoft Uses To Avoid $2.4 Billion In Taxes

Microsoft reduced its 2011 federal tax bill by a whopping $2.43 billion — or 44 per cent — by using a wide, international network of controlled foreign corporations and the exploitation of various loopholes in the U.S. corporate tax code.

Both the Ireland and Singapore arrangements are designed to subvert U.S. taxes entirely.

As the article notes, Microsoft has a true OzBargainer's heart,

It makes perfect business sense to manoeuvre the corporate structure to minimize taxes, and there is a compelling argument that current conditions are set up so that companies would be financially irresponsible not to do it.

      • You aswell, will be better off claiming ur purchase on tax if you use ur MS hardware for study/ work purposes , reducing the purchase price a further few bucks

      • Thank you thrift.

  • I picked up the Wireless 3000 set and the all in one multimedia keyboard today, desktop PC and HTPC are about 7m away from each other.

Both the keyboards interfere with each other :( I haven't sussed it out yet, I know some of the older models let you change the channel they transmit on but can't see that option with either of these two.

    Anyone had the same issue?

  • -1

Any1 know where to buy Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 WTA-00017 in Sydney ?
    Thanks

  • +4

Was just about to place an order with PLE for the xbox controller.

They've bumped up the price to $36. Not happy. Wont be buying from them now.

    • At $36 they're still equal cheapest on the item. Is it a bad thing for a company to try to make money, but still offer competitive prices?

      • +2

No, but it is considered bad practice around ozbargain #lookatdicksmith/goodguys
I refuse to buy from them now, as $16 is too much for the occasional PC gamer :(

        • +1

Considering its on backorder, I'm sure they won't miss 1 order ;)

Besides, an extra couple of bucks is what, a tub of icecream? :P

        • +2

          @Spackbace:
$6 = Connoiseur with change OR M600 Keyboard combo ($2.25) + M800 Keyboard combo ($3.00) with change. I bought this combo on Sunday after getting Officeworks to pricematch MSY. :P
I'm going to hold out, and check again towards the end of the promo. Hope it will revert back to $30.

    • +1

Atleast they didn't change it back to the normal price. They sold out all their stock and were getting new stock from other suppliers. It is quite fair of them to increase the price by a couple of dollars.

    • +2

Pretty sure the price increase is due to it not being the weekly special anymore.

It was labelled as "on special" last week…eg:

      http://www.ple.com.au/ViewItem.aspx?InventoryItemId=612699

…but has been replaced with a new set of specials:

      http://www.ple.com.au/Specials.aspx

In fact, I think their normal price is $40, so $36 is stil decent IMO.

    • You are right, they have bumped up the price from $30 to $33 and now to $36.

I guess they are trying to capitalize on the cash back offer.
