The point of the sales is to convince sellers that the internet traffic generated by listing on Ebay is worth the monthly fees, not to pass savings on to customers.

  • Guys - My GF has an old Canon 400D - > I want to get her an upgrade… can anyone recommend one that is on sale? I know nothing about cameras so help me out! I was thinking:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EOS-1200D-DSLR-Black-/26166…

    • +3

That camera is a downgrade.. More the digits the more amateur user it is intended for… (stupid I know..) so aim for a 500D,550D,ect..for the more up to date model of you gf current camera or 60D,70D,ect.. for the next level up. I'm not a canon shooter so I hope the numbers are right, but I know the patten is right.

      • +2

Not in this case. The 400D is so old the 1200D, even entry level, still beats it by miles in specs. Look here for example: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-1200D-vs-Canon_EOS_400…

And the Canon numbering makes sense if you think about the Canon 1D being the best camera, like first class on aircraft, or being first in line etc. Then they get less professional as the numbers increase as a general rule.

If you see my post above you can get the 1200D for about $300 after cashback and 20% off.

Canon 700D Movie Twin Lens Kit for $999 is heaps good as there's also a canon cashback going on atm

      20% eBay discount = $199.80
      2% cashrewards = $19.98
      canon cashback = $150

final price = $629.22 + $5 (if you choose to have it delivered instead of in-store pick up

      :)

      • +1

Do not buy the twin lens kit as she already would have the glass. There is not much upgrades that happened to the kit ones (assume it is 18-55 and 55-250). Go for a body only option. She might have already upgraded to better glass, that's another reason not to buy a package.

Seriously people stop asking the same questions… go back and read the damn comments for your answers

    • +3

      Anything?

It's like a Dell, but cheaper and has multiple uses :)

"Hi, I'm looking for either a laptop, a pc, or any other product in the world"

        • "Hi let me make a pointless sarcastic reply which is literally correct"

I got myself a low-end basic notebook from Good Guys - Asus X452EABINGVX078B AMD E1 14" 500GB Notebook. Perfect for what I plan to use it for. After the 20% discount, it only came up to $280.85 including shipping. :)

  • Would there be any benefit if you were dicksmith to do a deal with Catch Of the Day before the 20% sale. Pay 479 +
The 20% subtracted when the customers payment for the deal clears? And say they payed the extra amount?

Or not really? Just a random thought of why they didn't put an appealing price this time.. (No I don't believe what I'm writing, its just complete curiosity and seeing if there is any logic.)

  • bought my two TV's for the man cave.

Life's Good in the bedroom :)

        • without TV?

Well have to up vote the deal, bought Mum a new vacuum cleaner from TGG's listed at $259 down to $207.20. Googled the original price and it was the same on their website, and also seemed the best price I could find from any store.

Least they don't seem to be doing all the dodgy stuff like DSE do.

  • I have bagged DSE before but this time I managed to buy the Logitech G710+ keyboard I wanted and even though they might have increased the price (I didn't check) it still ended up the cheapest I could find by some margin at 115.2 after cash rewards.

Having said that, I have had them cancel my ebay purchases before with no explanation so it could happen again this time.

  • anyone seen a good deal for Sony Xperia Z3 Compact?

  • Don't forget 2% Cashrewards for ebay purchases. Even though it can take some time before you get the cashrewards purchases approved. I still have some purchases as far back as the beginning of October that are still pending.

Has this ever happened to anybody? I got Cashrewards verified and approved for one ebay purchase that I ended up cancelling and never buying.

  • I'm after a cheap wireless keyboard for my desktop. Any suggestions ?

    • check out msy

  • -4

what is this 2% cash rewards people keep speaking of?

  • This might be a far fetched assumption but… "out of stock" on ebay may not necessarily mean out of stock in store.

Since the 20% off is an ebay promotion, ebay must have some sort of budget.

To put this in the sense of numbers for example,

ebay allocates a small shop a limit of $10,000 in 'discounts'

if this small shop only sells tablets at $500 a piece, the shop would make sure to put the number of stock it has at 1,000 tablets (20% * $500 = $10,000).

if this small shop sells tablets at $500, laptops at $1000 and TVs at $2000, then they might just stock 200 tablets, 20 laptops, 10 TV's (or whatever combination hits their limit of $10k).

Is that how it might work ?

    • Possibly…. but wow, you think too much :)
You are correct that out of stock online, may not mean out of stock in-store, however since the 20% discount only applies to online eBay purchases, we just have to jump on the deals we find on eBay as they become available.

The mechanisms behind it and whether local stores have stock or not, does not help you score a great deal if the eBay store says out of stock before you get a chance to buy.

    • Stock limits would be set by stores and I doubt eBay would have much to do with it. Of the 20% the stores would have to stump up a % to get on the list and be part of the promotion and eBay probably loses some seller fees and PayPal commisions. So I doubt they're at a loss so to speak, just not taking much from the sales but there'd be nmo spike in sales without it.

    1st world problem….Dyson AM07 or AM08?

    Both are: $463.20

    With Cashrewards: $451.62

And TGG $75 real cash: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/cons/groups/public/documents/b…

    Net price pickup: $388.20

I know it's an expensive fan…but we need one for the lounge room that is toddler-proof…

Reviews online don't compare the 2 side by side…

    • +12

AM08 for sure…….. the number is higher so it must be better :)

      • leaning towards the AM08 also…but 600L/min = 10L/sec airflow…I wonder what a normal pedestal fan does?

        • I much prefer the look of the 07 but then again I'd go in store and try them both before deciding… not cheap for a fan so might as well do a test drive first.

    • I can't add (or subtract) tonite…must be eBay-fevered!

      net price is $579 x 0.78 - $75 = $376.62

    • +1

Ceiling fan not an option? That should be toddler proof too.

    • there are reviews online that compare the two.

      http://www.infobarrel.com/Dyson_AM07_vs_AM08

Seems like the AM07 would be more suitable for lounge rooms whereas the AM08 would be better for bedrooms.

I like the look of the AM07 better.

A pretty good way of finding out if anything is okay is to search for the product with "whirlpool" tacked on the end to see what people on whirlpool are saying.

      Invariably, you get good information.

      https://www.google.com.au/search?q=PACA100ECO+whirlpool&ie=u…

    • Choice Magazine recently did a good review on portable aircons.

  • Spewing I missed out on the 8.4 Tab S from TGG.

    • Me too. I added to cart and got to checkout but PayPal wouldn't accept my cc.

I'm still deciding between the Z3 Tablet Compact, Tab S 8.4 and Mini Retina 3 after I RMAd my N9 for a refund so honestly I'm not that bothered. By the time I've made up my mind there'll be another sale.

      • I ended up getting one from Dick Smith for $360. Not too bad considering next cheapest is $407

  • Bought Samsung note 4 from the good guys. $719 after discount. Postage is $5. What a bargain! :)

    • +27

Unbelievable! What has the world become? $ 724 for a phone is a bargain? lol I thought this was OZBargain ;p

      • +3

Anything less and you'll be classified a battler by ACA.

      • +7

agree, nowadays "flagships" are toooooo expensive.

        • +4

Yep, it's a joke. I am never spending $750 on a phone again. Did it for my Galaxy S3 at launch and two years later the battery is dead and the thing frustrates me all the time. $400 or less is the sweet spot.

        • +1

I wouldn't spend more than $600 for any flagships.

Not worth it. 1k for a phone is ridiculous. You can buy a nice TV with that or you get an Android + a smartwatch

        • @nubzy: could not agree more. a month ago, i brought my wife a nexus 5 (16G) and myself a oneplus one (64G) for little over $700 delivered. of course that was the result of group buy/cashback/discount coupon/ozbargain, etc+PATIENT.

    • You could have gotten another 18bux off through cashrewards

      • I know. New to this site. Didnt know about the×% cash back. Just signed up can I still claim the cash bak aftrr I done the purchase?

        • No you can't, you have to go through the CashRewards process first before buying on eBay.

        • @Franckel: damn :(. Oh well still a bargin .

    • +1

if it's a bargain, where is the up vote?

    • TGG tell me they're not getting stock in for another 2 weeks… I ordered it 10:01 on 30th.

      • I ordered about an hour after you - and I was just told they have no ETA on when getting stock :/

Honestly though, I'm more mad at myself for forgetting to go through Qantas Mall…

I am looking for a good juicer, saw an advt for nutribullet yesterday, read reviews online, doesnt seem to be good. Now am leanin for Kambrook KBL20 Blitz 2 Go Blender or George Foreman Mix and Go any recommendations from anyone who is using either of this? Pls thanks

      • +2

It depends what you want. To preserve nutritional benefits of fruit and veggies, get a "slow" juicer. These squeeze the juice out the veggies and fruit with an auger.
If you just want to blend up a milkshake or similar, any blender will do including, the Big W brand one, which comes with a 2 year warranty. Kambrook and Breville are better quality than some of the other types.

    • +1

I'm onto my second mix and go after a year …I thought I broke my first and chucked it in the bin before realising I actually just forgot to put the rubber ring on the blade part whoops…either way I liked it and used it enough to buy another one :)

    • +1

George foreman mix and go. It is really great for $35. Not really a juicer though, more a smoothie maker/blender.

      • Can't we put the fruits inside and put water inside to make it juice ?

    • +1

Yeah i got the foreman one too. I was lucky enough to get a text from tgg saying $20 off anything i want so i got it for $14 brilliant machine

      • How did u get a text from tgg..? Thx

        • they sent me a message saying "hey matt get $20 off your next purchase no minimum spend, just show this message bla bla" so went in showed the text and got $20 off.

        • @Chef-Johnson: wow thts cool

    • get a nutri ninja at target or woolworths or something

      • Thx I don't want to invest so much because I m not sure if I will use it much. Thx for ur comment though

  • +4

Is there a way to view all pages of comments at once?

It'd also be great to have all the good deals in one post somewhere. :)

    • +6

I'm with you, something like the 'archive/print' view on Whirlpool would make searching these much easier and should stop people from posting the same question multiple times across different pages.

      • A tip for the people asking same question on different pages, they should go to "My Account", go to "Comments" and click on the number in the "User Replies" column. Those links are direct links to their comments in the deal.

      • +1

That'd be awesome! Having to navigate multiple pages without being able to search through the entire thread is tiresome.

    • Yamaha YHT2910BT 5.1Ch Home Theatre System NEW from Appliances Online for $400 ($500 prediscount). Good for a small room.
I feel sorry for the guy who bought one yesterday before the sale.
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-YHT2910BT-5-1Ch-Home-Theat…

      • $145 postage kills it unless they allow pickup which is not listed there

        • It's free shipping for me in Melbourne metro.

    • +6

Have requested for it before - in short, will introduce server load issues: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/153054

The feature I'm keen on getting for these deals is 'hide posts whinging about how prices are jacked up before these promos'. It's already been discussed to death in previous deals. Rather than reading armchair lawyer's commentary on how they'll be complaining to ACCC, AFP, NATO or whoever else will listen, I would instead like to know what people are buying and what good deals they have spotted.

      • Could perhaps have a flag on comments, whether your comment includes a suggested deal/item?

  • Picked up one of these just now —>

    • that's very light for a washing machine. my one weighs a ton

  • Any one knows if there is any surcharge/fees if I linked my ANZ Amex card/Visa card to PayPal and make a payment on eBay? I played safe and paid with my linked debit card instead :(

    • +2

Nopes as long as it is in AUD.

    • ^ what jlogic said.

This applies anywhere you are paying by Paypal, not just eBay. Provided it is in AUD, and the merchant does not charge fees for the Paypal payment option, then regardless of what your 'payment source' is into Paypal (e.g. amex, bank account, paypal balance) you will not pay fees or surcharges. This is because as far as the merchant is concerned, your method of payment is Paypal, even if that is ultimately fed into by an Amex card.

bought a Delonghi Latissimo from TGG got $449. got the 20% off, so paid around $360. there is also a $100 cashback from Nespresso on that model, so total cost will be around $260. Harvey Norman have exact same model in today's catalog for $499.

  • Hey guys, any of you bought this?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ACER-Aspire-15-6-V3-572G-55FT-W8-…

80 sold at the moment, pretty tempted to buy it since it work out to about 640 after discount? That in my book seems pretty good for an i5 with a gt840 that actually allows you to play something :)
