  • On November 27, 2012 the US Patent and Trademark office approved Apple's application and "Retina" is now a registered trademark for computer equipment.

But I doubt apple would mess with the likes of Xiaomi

    • So they just won't call it "Retina" in the US.. Does Xiaomi even sell things there?

Yes, yes, I'm sure Apple filed it all over the place. Curious about China though heh

    • Actually retina screen is what the rep called it, xiaomi never use the term retina, misleading on the part of the rep, as retina has no true meaning

Yeah, Apple has such respect for trademark law.

In 1978, …, Apple Records, filed a lawsuit against Apple Computer for trademark infringement. The suit was settled in 1981 …, Apple Computer agreed not to enter the music business

  • This the old K1. This bordering iPad price

Has got some great reviews! Including: http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_pad_7_9-review-1121.php

Is really great value for money. What iPad is close to @285? Didn't the K1 only come out 3rd qtr this year?

      • +6

No, I'm afraid he's right. The ipad mini 3 is only ~$200 more. The K1 is super old, like 5 whole months old, thats close to a million years old in the scale of the universe. Nothing can beat apple, the ipad is more powerful than my nvidia 980 graphics card by 4 times, nothing can stand up against an ipad.

      • What iPad is close to @285?

        A used iPad 1?

No gps is a deal breaker for me

  • Great this time, Update price to $274.69 USD…..

too heavy :( way too heavy if you compare with ipad or samsung or sony

    • +2

Your wallet will be heavier too with the extra $$ saved, also a negative I guess. 30gms is SOOOO HEAVY!

        Humor :D

        • ipad 30g , samsung tab s 8.4 60g, z3 tab compact 90g :)

  • USD274 is roughly $318 AUD now, plus shipping will be $322 AUD. I think it is better to buy a Ipad Mini 2 for a little bit more.

    • whats the reason?

      • Ipad have better apps and local support and better build quality and better resale value.

USD$269.99 (select Standard, White. Price also includes selecting DHL shipping)

I've bought from these guys before. Totally fine. They have one of the highest ratings for Aliexpress.

    • This tablet can get a bit hot though. The "thermal" protection is almost non-existent.

I'm in the market for a tablet….prob get one of the new Samsungs though. More $$$ but overall much better build quality. But this is good for the price conscious. I'd get this if I was still living like a student :D

"Original"? You mean to say there are ripoffs of ripoffs now? Lol.

Also this seems overpriced for what it is. Rather buy a reputable tablet brand than this junk.

    • Hardly call this overpriced, uses one of the fastest processors on an android tab, and also uses the fastest gpu on an Android tablet, the exact same one in the nexus 9 that retails for $100's more.

Xiaomi has gained a pretty good reputation too, they haven't became the third biggest smartphone maker in the world through not building a reputable brand. Hence why many go to lengths of importing their products because they have an excellent reputation and offer excellent value for money.

Fun fact, lots of ios7 design was stolen from Xiaomi's MIUIV5.

  • How is app comparability in general for these?

    • +1

Same as any Android device :S
