I called through and had screen shots when it was in my cart online, after multiple times on hold they honoured it and charged me over the phone with CC… but it took a bit of push to do it.
I'd say they are honouring it for all sales.

I took a screenshot of the cart with the discounted price for safe measure and sent it to my sister to go to a Myer store and make them honour it. Luckily she got a trainee and the sale got put through.
I'll have a receipt for you guys to go price match else where very soon!!! (Receipt will be better than screenshot for price matching). Maybe give Myer a break and go price match at Bing Lee or GoodGuys :P

Just went to masters they said myer is selling the old model of dc 59 animal while they have the new model, so they are not going to price match.
Btw the new model's battery lasts 6mins longer than the old one
would be nice to know if the part number is the same at both places

The dumb thing is, Masters is selling the DC59 non-animal which was released before the DC59 Animal that Myers sells! They were just trying to get out of a price match, obviously. The DC59 non-animal was $340ish at Myer earlier.

There is no old & new model DC59 Animal.
I think they're fibbing. The model number on Myer Online is 64957-01, which matches the model number on the Dyson website. The DC59 has a 20 min battery whereas the DC59 Animal has the 6 extra minutes.

By law they don't need to honour anything. You missed out, that's unlucky but get over it, mistakes happen.
This is the stage where SOME of the people who missed out call myer, and pressure them into the purchase (why can't you price match?? %^&*$#), until myer pull the pin and say no one gets nothing….;(
Then people whose orders were cancelled will pressure them (why did you give others their order and I get nothing).

I was one click away from buying the dc59 this morning but realised its normal suction in air watts isn't much greater than my dustbuster (28 vs 23) so I let it go and saved more money for the next bill. =)

I googled: "dyson dc59 animal air watts" and "black and decker dustbuster X air watts" separately. Then found their air watts ratings.

@fonsii: If you look into that email, it will show you a Dispatch By date and generally that is when you will next hear from them again.
@eleana: I ordered the DC59 Animal. Order confirmation advised estimated ship date of 21st Oct. 4 hours after order, I'm advised it's been shipped. I am a Myer One card holder, perhaps that made a difference? Perhaps location and availability. Who knows.

@eug: As with many stores, the later you order, the earlier you get your order. I have two orders and this same exact situation has happened to me too. Grounds to make a complaint about the order in which they process their orders.

Not everyone carries the full 7-10kg onto a flight. They might think wasting $30 to save 1.55kg that they're not going to use anyway is a waste.
The vacuum part alone, which is really all you need to bring, weighs 1.55kg, which is less than a standard laptop.
All this vacuum talk has inspired me to do some vacuuming.

@mt2000: Yes. Right now there's the DC59 and DC59 Digital Slim Animal. Both have motorised heads.
Already available in the US is the DC59 Motorhead, with an improved motorised head. It's US$549, so I'm guessing the RRP will be AUD$600-650 when it gets released here.

The non-animal DC59 looks like it has been discontinued in the US. It's not listed on the US Dyson page.
Sorry, I meant the DC59 Motorhead with a direct-drive motor in the brush bar. Model was released in June in the US.

Ahh understand now lol.
So really the only difference from the animal and the new motorhead is just the direct drive which gives good carpet cleaning, apart from that pretty much DC59 animal.
And a shorter battery life.
