It was an error that was fixed, some people were lucky and got them with the double discount, some didn't.
I went to Carousel (WA) and tried to buy it yesterday but said I could only reserve it and to buy it the next day. Went to buy it first thing this morning and they wont honour the online $364 price. Showed the manager the receipt from above and the screenshot of the web site but he just said we clearly advertise 30% off and nothing else.

Same thing happened to me but I did not gave up and went to try my luck in Garden City. Myer in Garden City kinda said the same thing and I decided to try David Jones and they actually priced matched it! So I bought it for $364.30.
I doubt myer would honor this double discount.

Ahhh just checked again, changed from processing to back-ordered. NO big deal, I was flying round mny house with my DC44 and it's still doing the business.

Mine was sitting on processing order yesterday. Checked today and it has changed to preparing shipment.

I only ordered one - so the above messages are for the same item.
Top of the Orders page in large red bold says: Preparing shipment.
I'm guessing (hoping) that means that it has progressed from backorder to shipment.
I was @ Westfields today so I thought I'll drop by Myers to try my luck. The manager was nice enough to admit that yesterday was a massive stuff up by the online sales team, and they had been given a memo not to match that price in store. She did say that all orders made online yesterday before the price was fixed would be honoured too! :)

Very happy. Got dc59 animal price matched yesterday at David Jones Rundle Mall South Aust. Showed screenshot and scanned receipt. Best to try David Jones rather than go to Myer.

Thanks for the inspiration - I did the same as you and walked in to my closest David Jones at Highpoint today and the friendly salesman (possible Team Leader) matched the price with no dramas as soon as I showed the Myer receipt scan! He did check the date first but as soon as he saw that it was just days ago he had no hesitation!

Got my shipping confirmation and tracking number tonight (DC58A).
Called up Myer and was advised backorders may never ever come. Stock is virtually non-existent everywhere and stores aren't willing to sell it at that price (below cost). So he offered a cancellation and refund or indefinite hold on backorder that may never come.
What to do now…?

So Myer is no longer stocking this line or Dyson full stop? I'd wait it out for a bit and see what happens when the dust settles. My gut tells me it's a line they're going to continue carrying so stock will come in eventually.

Mine is also back ordered. Anyone knows if they can still place order for dc59 animal online? I tried to do it on the phone but it gave me an error message. If we could still place the order online then it either means they have the stock or will re-order them

In transit usually means someone is going to your house to secretly mark it to ensure if someone attempts delivery they know not to so your order can be cancelled. Better luck next time.
Lol I've had in transit mean it's being shipped to the warehouse from another location before. Just got the email that it's been shipped.
I rang myer customer service today and got told they are going to cancel ALL OUR backorders. I really think this is not fair for all of us because :
A, if it is price error, that is myer's issue not ours, and we don't event know if the excuse of price error and "below cost" is genuine
B, if it is because item is out of stock, then why we were still able to put in orders while myer online was clearly able to stop putting in order for out of stock items and show its status.
should we resort this issue to fair trade au?

I walked in to David Jones Highpoint today (Sunday) with the Myer and David Jones receipt scans from here loaded on my phone and scored me a price match on Dyson DC59 Animal! They had 20% of all Dyson as well. Thanks David Jones!

I went there as well, but was told by their manager that they would not match receipt but current online price……wth… could i know how you managed to get them to match price?
I just walked in and asked the salesman (definitely not a manager) if they had stock of the DC59 Animal. He said there were plenty and asked if I wanted to buy one. I said yes if I can get a price match from a very recent Myer promotion. I presented my phone and he asked how recently the deal was from. When he found out it was just days ago he was quite happy to go ahead. When he scanned the item I did see that was a little unsure (or reluctant), but he went through the sale process quite happily. Or I got lucky.

@Hipmumma, you've voiced my thoughts exactly. Got in because of the hype but now looking at youtube vids of how to routinely clean those sticks, I think I'd prefer sticking to what I do now.
That said, great pickup & great deal especially for those that wanted/needed one.
Gosh I'm not game to even look at How to clean it! I'm not going to focus on any negatives …there's not allowed to be when spending so much haha with that said I did buy an air ram which has been pretty great so if its a little better then that ill be happy

I went to both Myer and DJ in Chatswood today and the both would not price match. Told me that price for the DC59 Animal is below cost :(
@SE6 ' below cost' may mean in store cost. Not cost to company. But moot point as what is is what is.

Yeah, I was going to to pick up in store but figured it was safer to use the free shipping in case store was sold out. Bad idea it seems. Mine still says "preparing shipment" though (been like that since Friday) and not backorder, so hopefully it will come through.
Just changed to shipped now :) So if your order is "preparing shipment", you will probably be fine. If backlog then who knows.

DC59 Animal seems to be back in stock online. has anyone tried calling the contact centre today (monday) and find out the status? Given they are selling it online but existing orders have status as backordered? I understand that they are not required to sell at that price but hoping they dont cancel the existing orders.

I just got an SMS and email saying mine has been shipped. I ordered at 9.49am the day the deal was posted. According to the tracking screen, it is being picked up from Myer Brisbane City.
My tracking info (also shipped today) has also got a line that goes from Myer Brisbane City. Not sure if it is just slightly generic for anything shipping from Brisbane or if it is literally being picked up from the city store. I thought it would be shipped from some generic warehouse in NSW or something though, so either way this is much better and should be delivered today or tomorrow then if it is going such a short distance.
Has yours been picked up yet? Mine says "In transit" but the Temando website says it's still awaiting pickup.
I found out that the tracking number in the email and the ones on the Temando website (after you clicked the link in your email) are different. So I copied pasted the code in the email to Aus post to try my luck…. and found out there is record for it.
@eleana: Hmm, the tracking number my the email and Temando page is the same. Anyway the Temando page has just been updated, and the consignment number now works on the auspost website. It didn't work a few hours ago.

I am a Myer one member, but forgot (in the excitement) to enter it during the checkout process so not sure that made a difference.

So any one rang them up and ask what is Prepare shipping is and what is going on?
From previous purchase of other goods from Myers, my status went from In progress to Prepare shipping and back to in progress for some items. Ordered 2 of the same shirts, 1 was shipped, the other was in progress. They ended up shipping them at different times.
I called them to ask them what happened to my other shirt. They said there was only 1 and had to source out the other shirt from another location. So if it's showing 'Prepare Shipping' that means someone is actually looking at your order and trying to organize for shipment. If it's back to 'in progress' then it's probably means they're trying to source the item if they don't have it in stock.
And if it's 'backordered' then yeah…you're on the waiting list.. like everyone else

I know there was stock at Myers - Highpoint shopping centre on Friday because my mates wife was holding them trying to get them to process it on their system which they couldn't get the stacked discounted price to show so ended up doing it online instead.

I was also going to do pickup. However, while I was debating what's better with my work mates, Southland and then Frankston stopped appearing as available for pickup (just as I was clicking on them). I panicked and placed the order for delivery as I got worried that if I leave it any longer, I might miss out.
Myer server is down. I could not see my order in my account. I called them. They said the server is down. It will back to normal after 5:15pm. I am not sure whether the most people got their items. My order was Backordered I checked in the morning today. My order was placed around 11:18am last Friday.I was wondering whether anyone who placed order around that time and got their order status in shipping?
