  • It was $100 cheaper earlier this month. Sadly didn't catch it.

Just get a new bin and cyclone for my old V8 or get a new 8V as a 2nd vacuum?

  • +1

these have weak suction compared to the much cheaper lubluelu ones. apart from warranty concerns, why buy these?

    • Got a link?

    • my v10 recently died… still thinking whether to buy another dyson or a lubluelu stick

Do you have a link to a recommended lubluelu one?

      • ebay has them. seems to be an official store. havent tried one so they might be crap

      • V10's are garbage. How do I know? I have one and worse design to empty barrel and no randomly powers on with the trigger.

    • Yep I have one of these and they are definitely not worth the absurd asking price. You get ten minutes of lacklustre cleaning and the show's over for the day.

  • Who has ever paid RRP for this?

  • Normal price..

  • efoy these were 399, even last week during jbhifi perks was around 359…

should try bigw if these are still on sale for 399…

  • +2

I much prefer the dust canister design on these models, than the higher end ones. It's easier to empty and a more useful size. For reference, the V8 has a 540ml dust canister whereas the larger V12 unit has a 350ml dust canister.

    • +1

I have never come close to filling my V8 cannister up because it just can't pick much up to begin with

  • Any lubluelu ones in comparison to recommend? Thx

Just "playing" with a "dead" V8 and V10 Dyson. People throwing them away in hords!

Absolutely nothing wrong with either of them. Just the BMS and cell balancing don't match, so you prematurely turf perfectly working machines. Dyson know exactly what they have done here.

    Head over to GitHub or

    https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/replacement-firmware-…

Charge each cell individually (just use any 4v lithium charger). Flash the BMS. Good to go for another 1000 cycles.

    Criminal waste Sir Dyson!

*If not your thing - look elsewhere. Krapoff/ Kmart .. anything else really.

    • Great post.

Do these models have battery packs that you can't replace or something ?
When my Dyson handheld battery died, I just bought a new battery from Amazon and carried right on cleaning. Can you not do that with these?

      • +1

Yeah you can replace them…but there is nothing wrong them (other than the cells get out of balance, as they haven't connected the internal balancing circuit).

If you need a 'Dyson' battery… get a Drill battery converter off Ali Express instead for <$20. Drill batteries actually work better as well (less voltage drop under load).

    • Where’s the best/cheapest place for a replacement charger for one of the original Dyson stick vacs? Circa 2012 model or thereabouts that runs for only 6mins max when new.

      • +1

Charger…just about any 20v or higher charger will do it. I use my Aldi drill charger.

        Ebay - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335046634097?

        • Bought it, arrived, doesn’t fit. Wrong connector.

          • @00: Change the end.

Its just a + and - wire, one going to the inside of the plug, the other to the outside (check the polarity with your original charger - should be a little graphic showing what the middle pin is).

If you don't solder, you can get screw in ones. Something like $1 each on ebay, $4 or something at Jaycar..

Just make sure you get the right centre hole diameter.

            https://www.jaycar.com.au/2-5mm-dc-power-line-connector-14mm…

    • Do you have one for the v8?

      I can find v6,v7 and v10

  • Bought the one on special earlier this month after our Vax Blade 2 finally died after many years, which was only a couple of hundred dollars back then..
Anyway, wasn’t impressed with the Dyson after all the hype people give them. I’m not sure if it’s the design, but the collection department doesn’t seal anywhere near 100%..
Is this the quality people accept these days..
Our grandfathers wouldn’t be impressed I’m sure.

  • Only thing I like about the dyson is can get adaptors for drill batteries like makita etc.
Do any other brands have this?

    • Do any other brands need to have this?

      • considering the key failure point of most handheld vacs is battery, then yeah, they do

        • "Considering the key failure point of Dyson handheld vacs is battery, then yeah, Dyson does"

  • After owning a shark, you couldn't give me even the latest model dyson to use.

    • which model shark would you recommend?

      • Cordless I have the 'Cordless Detect Pro - IW1611'. Corded I have had the Lift Away Pro for at least 5 years now and it still goes as good as thew day we got it, however, rarely use it as the cordless is sufficient in doing the whole house.

        • thanks - will check it out! Already have a miele corded so just looking for somehting to supplement that

  • $417 on amazon FYI
