  Good price on the atv, but remember that apple may be announcing a new version with their new iPad. Google officially announced their Android tv this morning, which I know personally I'd prefer over the old ATV 3. Another thing, the android tv can airplay apple devices too.

    Can the Android TV AirPlay from iOS devices? I was under the impression it supported the same 'casting' stuff as the Chromecast, where each specific iOS app needs to be enabled by developers. The PocketCasts app is a good example of an iOS app that supports it, but only because the developers have taken the time to implement it.

    The product page linked says 'Cast your favorite entertainment apps, including HBO GO, WatchESPN, WATCH Disney and more, from your Android or iOS device' - this is potentially consistent with what I described.

    Happy to be demonstrated to be wrong on this

      I use this app and I airplay content from my iPad to my fire tv all the time, mostly the Australian tv apps because I couldn't find an apk to install them direct to the fire tv. :) The advantage though with devices like the android tv and fire tv etc, you can actually install apps. I had issues with my atv, some apps wouldn't allow the content to be streamed by airplay on atv unless I mirrored, and mirroring an ipad gives 4:3 ar.

      There's been very little rumour about a new model, though it would be much easier for Apple to hide than a new iPhone which always leaks launch these days. It's due for an update, but far from certain to get one tonight.

      If it wants to be competitive with google and amazon $99 US. It will probably be more than that knowing apple. They have kept the atv 3 going for heading towards 3 years, and people still think their the best choice.

  $4.95 shipping for me on an Apple TV for me - $83.95 total. The other option is a refurbished Apple TV directly from Apple.com.au - $79 delivered. I've bought a couple of refurbished Airport Express units from them and the box was plain white with brand new plastic casing - looked brand new.
